Lots of cool vintage clothes at a good price

This store is adorable and a real asset to SLO. Their offerings are carefully curated and it’s obvious the buyers know what they’re doing. You’ll find an eclectic mix of high-quality, on-trend pieces at reasonable prices. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It seems like most of the negative reviews are from people who are offended that the store didn’t buy their items. Get over it.

Calico is my favorite store! I find the most unique pieces, from accessories to jackets and tops! The store is thoughtfully curated with lots of good vintage items as well. The store is also nicely organized which makes shopping super easy!

how can i give more than 5 stars?? not kidding when i say all of my favorite clothes (basically my whole closet now) are from Calico. the most unique finds at great reasonable prices. calico has a warm atmosphere, kind staff, and new inventory every single time i visit!! this is a must-stop if you are in downtown SLO and want to support local businesses <3

This was a super cute thrift shop, they're clearly very picky as to what they'll sell because I only saw quality clothing. The price point is also great, not too expensive for what you're getting. The staff was super nice!

Creatively curated resale shop! Lots of great vintage denim, handmade goods, and modern, high-quality brands. Prices comparable to Poshmark, but you can support a small, locally owned, brick-and-mortar business by shopping at Calico.  Definitely worth a trip!!!

Upscale resale!  AKA, fancy, clean secondhand.

These aren’t thrift-store prices, and this place also lacks the thrift store “ick” feeling.  It’s clean, organized, and the offerings are high-end & highly stylish.  A hipster’s dream!

I love shopping here- I feel eco-friendly (recycling clothing), sophisticated (luxury brands), AND I also get great deals.

Expect to find reasonable prices on high-end brands at Calico.  Expect to become instantly stylish in whatever you buy here, since stylish people have curated the offerings for you.

As we all know, SLO has lots of certain things (sandwich joint, anybody?) and not enough of others.  We are in no short supply of thrift stores, no sir!  However, Calico is filling a gap of what any rad college town needs: a true second hand clothing store.

We went on their grand opening day (because we're cool like that) and it's clear that the owner has done it right.  Store was clean, well organized, and the selection was great.  My wife found three or four winners, and I'm excited to keep going back to see what else I can find.  Selection was geared towards a wide range of ages it seemed.

Was approached by a woman who warmly introduced herself, turns out that she's the owner.  A true SLO County native who's turning over a new career leaf... and is doing it well.  Excited to see this place gain traction.

A consignment clothing store that is well organized with a large selection. Has clothes for men and women. Nice friendly staff. They take consignments daily which is wonderful and makes it so much easier. Parking is the only challenge…

Great finds, cute cards and small stuff. Prices are very reasonable. Staff was helpful and very nice. If you are Hispanic I will not recommend it, other customers are not nice, since it is upscale thrift shop.
Parking lot is hard to find and you have to pay, limited 2 hours on the street. Free parking lot is a walking distance but not too close.

I got a pair of quality used Merrill low rise hiking boots here for $25. Good deal. Helpful friendly staff. Some of the stuff is priced pretty high for used merch.

Why does this say it's a thrift store?? It's pretty pricey! Cute stuff, definitely a second hand store, but I definitely wouldn't buy anything there when I can buy it cheap at the thrift stores in morro!

Hi Ellie, I am sorry for the confusion. I talked to our manager and was able to research the transaction in our system. Unfortunately we do not accept returns on clearance or without a receipt. We will definitely have our team be more clear regarding our return policy during checkout. 

I really like this store! It’s clean and local and always has good options. However, I had a pretty lame experience. I bought a pair of sandals a few days ago in a rush. The cashier did not tell me I would not be able to return or exchange, or else I would not have bought them. I went back to exchange them because they didn’t fit (tags still on) and they would not even give me a store credit. I was fully planning on buying a few things and spending much more money than the 18$ return for the sandals. The cashier just stared at me and was so unhelpful. Seems like pretty common sense that happy customers are returning customers, so hopefully they will consider changing that policy

Find it absolutely stupid that Tuesday is the only day with a 50 person cap limit to exchange clothes, I drive an hr only to find that out, don’t go past 11:30 on Tuesday’s, they’ll turn you away and won’t accept. Every other day though is completely normal and you can exchange until 2 pm. I would understand that being a weekend rule and having a cap limit but the rest of the weekdays are normal, like why a does a Tuesday have this limit, they don’t state this policy in the store either. Just absolutely ridiculous to false advertise! Waste of a drive and gas and I’m embarrassed by this store to not even state this policy. Change the board at the least.

In the comments I see a lot about customer service being unprofessional. And a manger trying to compensate for their behavior by addressing how they thrift and price their clothes . Customer service is everything.

Although we regularly donate to several local charities, we are not a donation based thrift store or operate under the direction of a non-profit.  We carefully curate our items and try to have something in all price ranges.  We hope the next time you're in town you give us another chance.

Before leaving town, I made a special trip to this store. Their items are very nice but way overpriced. Do the proceeds go to charity? I also read a reply from the store about how their business works. Apparently,  they purchase high end items, from people & resell them. That's called a second hand store, not a typical thrift store. Also, when I entered the store nobody greeted me, the salesperson just looked at me & stared, I said hello.
The ambiance was that of entitlement.
Overall, it was a short-lived unpleasant experience.
I love SLO, and the people were lovely & friendly. This store, not so much.

We are so sorry you didn’t have a great experience when you visited our store. Our business is a little different than a typical “thrift” store, we purchase our inventory from our customers instead of selling donations. We also sell upcycled and handmade one of a kind items, so even though the majority of our inventory is priced below $25, we have some higher end and designer pieces.  We hope you give us another chance and if you DM us we would like to offer you a coupon to use at a future visit.

Too expensive for leather bags with spots and shoes that are too worn for 29-45$. Plus there was two women working at the counter and they didn't say hi or ask if we needed help... trendy, overpriced and unfriendly.

I don't think I've ever actually been welcomed when I enter the store. If you walk in and aren't their type you are basically entirely ignored. This happens to me every time.  Several people told me about this first and I doubted it until I experienced it myself.

I recently visited this store to donate a variety of high-quality clothing items, many of which were brand-new with tags or lightly worn from PR packages and brand deals I’ve received as an influencer. However, my experience was extremely disappointing.

Despite the excellent condition of the items, none were accepted. While I understand that stores have specific guidelines for what they take in, the lack of explanation and the dismissive attitude I encountered were unprofessional and uncomfortable. The employee who returned my items made an unnecessary remark, stating, “We’re not going to be buying any of these things from you,” in a condescending manner.

My intention was never about making money, as their offer would have only been a small percentage of the value. Instead, I planned to use the funds to support my annual initiative of creating goody bags for the homeless in Los Angeles on my birthday. A friend who frequently sells similar items at this location was also surprised by the treatment I received, raising concerns about potential bias in their selection process.

Regardless of the reasoning, the experience was disappointing and left me feeling unwelcome. I cannot recommend this store, particularly to individuals from marginalized communities, as the environment felt uninviting and unfair.

If you are coming to sell, expect poor service. The staff member in charge of buying clothes was unhelpful and made an offer on 2/25 items with no good reason given for the remaining items, many of which were never worn. I would recommend selling items online, as it would be more convenient and profitable  to visit the post office next door than to pay for parking.

I'm sorry for the error. Occasionally the person who prices is different than the person who buys and that can lead to a price discrepancy.  We would like the opportunity to make this right. Shady business practice. I sold some clothes to them, getting what they said would be 25% of what they’d price it at. Went back in store and saw they’d marked it for much higher than what my 25% cut suggested. Why the dishonest practice?

horrible customer service here honestly. they post the store hours and say they buy clothes you bring in, but it wasn't posted anywhere until recently that there's all these extra rules and different hours for selling. they only accept clothes until 2 even though they're open till 6. I didn't know this because it wasn't posted anywhere and when I went in at 2:05 I was turned away. I told them I live 30 minutes away and made the drive to SLO just to bring things before donating them and the woman was so rude about it and said "just donate them then ok?". I understand rules are rules, but at least make your policies easy to find and speak kindly to people.

The incredibly unprofessional teenagers who work there need to be better about removing the Goodwill tag for 5.99$ before charging 42$.   Ridiculous attitudes and sour faces. There are almost no quality brands there. Skip it. Spend 5.99$ at the Goodwill. You'll most likely have someone friendly helping you too.

really clean and neat shop overall but staff are the worst people i’ve ever seen working for customer service. my friend and i walked in and the girl in front was just sitting there on her phone and didn’t even look at us or welcomed us. when i was paying, the two girls working were not smiling at all and they look so dreadful and depressed to be there. that one girl was still on her phone just sitting there doing absolutely nothing. we tried to make jokes and have conversation with them but they just looked us dead in the eye as if we were there wasting their time. NEVER going back here again.
