I don't often write reviews, but McCarthy's was excellent! I had to travel from Los Angeles to buy the car and if Chris hadn't been so helpful on the phone I wouldn't have risked the trip; he went to the trouble to drive the car while we talked and gave me detailed answers to all my questions. I made the journey and am very happy with the vehicle. These guys are a pleasure to deal with, and a welcome change from my experiences with Los Angles car dealers. Highly recommended!!

My husband and I both got our cars from McCarthy Auto and had a great experience! They have a variety of cars for each budget point and worked to find the right cars for our wants and budget. We came in without much knowledge of buying cars from a dealership and they explained everything we didn’t understand. The entire staff is very personable and fun to work with, I would definitely recommend looking here!

Mccarthy’s is a step above. When you arrive, ask for Adam, sales. As business owner he respected my time, was fair and will work with again. Cody in finance was a pleasure to work with and look forward to purchasing more vehicles from them in the future.

My daughter and I came down last weekend to check out a few cars, Honda especially. They had exactly what she was wanting. I just could only hope it was doable. Chris took our information and a few hours later, we signed off on her new honda and headed back up north! Fast forward a few days later - the battery went completely dead! No signs of it just dying, it just died. We got ahold of Adam @ Mccarthy and they replaced the battery for free within the first few hours. My daughter was so devastated in the beginning and Adam really just made her feel so much better. Thank you for being so helpful to our family. We appreciate you all very much!

McCarthy's is your hometown dealership!!! They have a great selection to fit almost any budget!!! Their cars have been gone through to where you are comfortable buying right after looking at it!!! The paperwork is simply explained and everything is made simple!!! If you want a quality car at an affordable price go see Chris, Cody or Adam and they will take great care of you!!! I drove from Lompoc to get my HHR and it was well worth the drive!!!

I purchased from McCarthy's in June 2024. Buying at McCarthy's has been without a doubt the best car buying experience I have had. Chris was attentive to every question, flexible with my timing, and extremely communicative whenever I reached out. From the moment I first stepped foot on the lot through when I signed the purchase paperwork, everything was seamless and comfortable. The process was honest, quick and fair. There isn't a single negative thing I could say - everything has been wonderful. Chris event went out of his way to check in after the sale to ensure everything was working and that I was satisfied with the vehicle (a vehicle that I still LOVE!) and has continued to be available for me when questions come up. A truly perfect experience!

cody was super chill, knowledgeable, and helpful. we felt like he was on our side right off the bat. he made the process very seamless and we got a great deal. we will definitely be purchasing future vehicles from here.

They made a good deal for me with the bank, they Caine to my family and my self a day after we closed the deal they call me to let me know they found a better deal with another bank to lower my interest rate, Thanks guys they have to that but they did it ,no one have done that for me specially I dealership.

We bought a used car for our recent college graduate and can't recommend McCarthy's enough. As out-of-state parents, we relied on locals' recommendations and wanted to make sure we "gave back" and added our experience, as well. McCarthy's seems to specialize in high-quality, mostly sub-$20K cars. Each car is thoroughly inspected by a local mechanic and includes a CarFax report (which they helped to decipher). Unlike some of the dealers we visited, the cars were very well detailed and they seemed to take pride in that. McCarthy's itself offers a 90-day full-coverage warranty, and the third-party extended warranties they offer are only the top-tier available (i.e. the most stuff covered). The credit unions they work with are carefully selected. Everybody we dealt with (owner Mike McCarthy, Cody, and Jimi) was very low-pressure and helpful, from advice on picking a suitable car, warranty options/recommendations, and financing. The entire vibe seemed to be geared towards making sure the customer was happy with their purchase and the process, and, like a lot of San Luis Obispo, they were LGBTQ+ friendly

Love my new (to me) Prius! Chris was super easy to work with. I had such a great experience I brought my mom back and she bought a car here the next week!
