This store is a lot of fun. Full of retro and nostalgic items like old comics, books, video game systems, funko pops, CDs, vinyl,etc. I especially enjoy the 2nd and Charles located in the Colorado Mills Mall in Lakewood. Excellent selection and great customer service.

I stop in 2nd & Charles every month to look through their records (vinyl) and CDs. I have purchased a lot of gifts here over the years. Books, t-shirts, video games, comic books, toys, collectibles, guitars and many other things. Every time I have asked staff for help they stop what they're doing to help me. 2nd & Charles deserves six stars.

This is one of the best 2nd and charles I've been too! Not too big but they had a lot. They especially had a lot of funko pops which I was pleasantly surprised about. If it wasn't a 45min drive one way I'd go back more often.

Really great selection of board games, comics, and books. Almost overwhelming in its variety. Everything is organized and its many, many shelves are well stocked with all kinds of interesting stuff. Staff is friendly! Will be coming back for sure.

First time but definitely not my last. I loved that they had a selection of the "banned books", that I collect. The staff that I encountered were friendly and all-around wonderful. See you soon!

Easy parking. Aisle far enough apart for stroller. A large variety of books,new and used, albums, tapes, and a whole children's section with games and toys. It's just a great place to wander and dream.

There's always a great selection here. They don't give you much in-store credit when you bring your books in, but it's better than nothing. I got $11 for 5 books that were new hardcovers (like, copyright 2025.) I'd give 5 stars if they gave better store credit.

This store is like the wayward love child of Barnes&Noble  and Spencer Gifts. New & Used books and ironic toys. Great clearance section for toys & books. They buy used items-anything related to books and games but I warn you they pay out so little for your stuff that it's almost not worth it unless uvreally need the cash. Staff is pretty cool and very patient! Knowledgeable too! That's all I have for now.

This is an awesome store.  There are so many different things here that are worth seeing:  anime, clearance books, vinyl, 💿, music instruments,  stationary, Pokémon, toys, Harry Potter,  Nightmare Before Christmas,  and the list goes on & on.  The only thing that I didn't see was reading spots but not all stores are like that so maybe that's why they were absent.

Pretty great selection of comics and Manga. Their used game selection is weird and not very well organized. They have a good amount of books and even musical instruments. Definitely a cool place to browse.

It used to be a good place to go and sell some used media items, but they’ve changed their policies and don’t offer much anymore. The DVD selection is mediocre, although you occasionally find some real gems.

I generally love 2nd & Charles but this location is a little strange. I have sold and purchased at this location.

They expect you to know how the selling process works - they don't communicate about what's going on or what to expect beyond the instructions posted on the wall (which are minimal). Unfortunately, their process is different from other locations and companies regarding the use of boxes and other things.  For example, at other locations I've been given back the books they don't want to purchase but not at this location and they acted shocked and offended when I asked questions, such as "were all the books accepted?"

As a customer here, it's pretty hit or miss. Last week, I went to the front with my purchase and nobody ever came to check me out. I stood around for about 10 minutes, then went to find someone. I could only locate two workers in the buyback section and they ignored me. I didn't want to butt in or be annoying so I just put my books back and left.

Other times, the workers are fast and helpful. I've had some good connections and enjoyed my visits.

I want to love this place like I love the Littleton location but it's uncomfortable. Hope that changes in the future!

Not always the best experience. Not likely able to find what you're looking for. Books are often over priced... Only this location while other 2nd & Charles had more selections and affordable prices. Whales Tales is a good alternative on the other side of the mall.

Great store, always find neat nerd stuff here. But, one time I was charged 4x the price of an item and the cashier said they were unable to do anything about it. I was never able to get a refund because they claimed that the item was from their warehouse and therefore could not be returned? Litterally makes no sense, I bought it off the shelf like any other item.

I've never had such a bad experience shopping for records in my life. Their vinyl isn't too horribly priced, and they even have good stuff, but it's a mess. Half of the new pressings don't even have a price tag. None of their inventory is properly alphabetized or sorted by the correct genre. I'll find Dylan in Jazz and Nina Simone in Country, both under incorrect letter cards. It's ridiculous. Records are warped, sleeves are creased because of the poor organization and storage of their inventory. This is the second time I've tried to shop here and I wouldn't ever suggest it to another collector. Maybe they ought to look to the local record stores and see what they're doing that makes them successful, cause this is not it. It feels like digging through messy thrift store bins. Such a shame.

I figured their selling approach changed. I gave them another try after doing spring cleaning to thin out my book collection.

I took a carload and fit what amounted to at least a few hundred books into their required allotment of four bins for processing.

I received a text of an offer but no amount was given until I called.

My offer: $5 in cash or $11 in store credit.

I asked if they took all my books and they said there was no way to tell me that.

I am sorry, but this offer is borderline criminal. I have sold at other outfits and they have been far more generous with offers. For giggles, I checked a previous order on the shelf (since I mainly collect history) and there was a book on the shelf of mine for $28!

I implore those to simply stop selling to these con-artists and force them to reevaluate their deeply shady buying practices.

A week ago, I dropped off two Ikea bags full of books to their buy counter. I was in the area for a birthday party and figured, why not cull some books from my collection and see what they offer.

I left the books at the counter and was told, you'll have to wait two days for these orders to be processed. Ok, I get it. No worries. Two days comes. No text alerts. Three days comes, no alerts. I call the store, the guy answers and says, "I am going through your book order as we speak, there are a few titles I am researching and will have this ready tomorrow."

Tomorrow comes, nothing.

I call back five days later and the guy is -- shocking -- "looking at my order as we speak!"

Later that same day, I get a text telling me to come to the store and counter to get my offer. I am on the complete other side of town so that is impossible. I call in and get the order over the phone and was offered $20. For two massive Ikea bags of books.

I asked why such a low offer and the woman on the phone has the guts to tell me that "book prices are just not very good right now" which is interesting considering the bookstore she works for has a massive ever-changing warehouse of books that are dependent on people bringing them inventory.

I've been through the buyback process at Half Price Books and most recently, McKay's on the East Coast and the process, updates, and constant shiftiness of the employees here tells me that their resources or system is not equipped to handle people's books.

Before I hung up, I mentioned that I cannot be the only person who finds this system extremely frustrating and she said "Nope, you are definitely not and there is nothing we can do to change it."

So, perhaps some folks at corporate are looking at these reviews (judging from all the others, I see they are not, so welp!) and seeing what an absolute nightmare this process has been. And, perhaps, you'll work to fix it.

Told me I would get %25 off if I purchased on my birthday in exchange for my information.  Came back on my birthday and %25 discount wasn’t applied. Scammers

Shopped at 2nd and Charles's all over and after today I will never buy anything from any 2nd and Charles in the US. I went to sell about 10 books, Sherlock Holmes, Canterbury tales, good books, and I was offered 15 cents a piece for them. No sorry it was about 16 cents a piece my mistake. Those books will be sold for what, 800% markup from 16 cents at least, maybe 900%.

You lost a lifelong customer today. I'll be sure to spend my money at Mom and Dad stores exclusively going forward.

Absolutely disgusting practices.

Went in to look at kids books and they were disgusting. I understand buying used books but who wants to give their kids books that have been chewed on. So gross will not be back because seems like they buy anything 🤢

I have gone in this store multiple times and looked around at their products and have also purchased without any problems. That was until today. I picked out two funko pop figures and headed to the checkout. I was asked if I wanted to make an account to which I replied yes and went through that process. The cashier (Thomas) asked if I wanted to donate towards a fundraiser that gave gifts to children in the hospital, the cheapest donation was a box that was "under four dollars". I replied no thank you and Thomas proceeded to stop everything he was doing and stare at me as if I had said something wrong. He reads me my total and I asked to pay $20 in cash and the rest on card. The bill in my hands was damp because my hands were nervously sweating and he was said "why is the money wet?" With a judgemental look. I explained that my hands were sweaty and apologized several times he glared at me again checked the bill (was very much real but I don't have a problem with him checking the bill but more so his attitude throught the interaction). I finished paying and collected my items without any further comments. Honestly a horrible experience and as a customer I was left upset and frustrated. Frankly I don't intend on coming back.

Don't sell your books here. I had a whole bin of books I brought in, pregnancy books, complete Shakespeare and Emily Dickinson, books about zombies and folk tales, mythology, etc. and was only offered $3 and some change or $7 store credit. It's a rip off. Don't sell your books here.

Don’t bother with mystery boxes. Mine was filled with books missing covers or listed as free promotional offers that were given away. That’s sleazy business! I want to have a box of books not a box of trash. I called them up to see if I could be refunded and they said they do it because it’s the only legal way to get rid of this stuff but that’s just horrible. Throw it away or donate it, or you can make a buck off your customers and do the wrong thing. Disgraceful!

The cashiers were very friendly and deserve five stars. The managers and c-suite making these calls - shame on you!

I spent about 20 minutes browsing, and found a book I wanted. It was on clearance, even. The total was $1.78. I had exact change, and they would not accept it. They told me they couldn’t take cash. I said “OK” and left. No sale, and I won’t return.
Hey! You (corporate) spend hours pounding on your loyalty program, and then send loyal customers packing? How, exactly, does that work?

I usually only post positive reviews, but I was pretty taken aback by this store. The baby changing station is broken and dangerous. I had to change my baby on the floor of the bathroom because I was worried he would be dumped off the changing station onto the tile floor. I did not want to put my infant on the floor of a public restroom, but it seemed the safest option. When I informed an employee, they said that maintenance wouldn’t fix it unless it’s “literally falling off the wall”. The bare minimum they could do is put a sign on it to make sure no babies get hurt. Just leaving it broken and dangerous is terrible. A baby could get seriously hurt.
