I have been a customer for over four years and one of the places I came to for building a new collection of sports cards.  Working with the owner John has been a great and is a collector at heart.  His store has so much to offer and brings a nostalgia from when I grew up.  There is something for everyone!

Went here last weekend. Great selection, very knowledgeable staff. Two cool older guys work there and own the space. The space is huge. It looks somewhat disorganized but they know exactly where things are and they can find things you’re looking for quickly. I was looking for a gameboy color. They didn’t have it then. They genuinely felt bad that they couldn’t help me. They had them last week but sold out. That happens I said no worries. I will definitely be back because of the service and collection of games. They also have wrestling, sports memorabilia, and vhs tapes. Good prices too.

They cleaned up my Wii controllers that were covered in battery acid and got them to work again. Very friendly team and an affordable place to shop for collectibles, hobbies, and repairs

John is fantastic. You can tell he loves what he does and he’s so good to the kids.  His trade in values are more than fair and whether it’s a large trade or a few games your kid wants trade, he makes you feel like you’re his #1 customer.  We will be coming back often!

Was looking for some Pokéman single to fill vintage collection. John and this place are A1! Have absolutely everything and then some! Absolutely incredible. 10/10 recommend stopping in and checking them out!

If you’re like me (in my early 40’s)…this is an exotic and must go-to place. Having had every video game system, this place brings back childhood memories from the minute you walk in the store. Whether it’s going back to the Atari, Sega, Sega Saturn, all Nintendo’s to the current systems..toys..funko-pops..and yes, as a wrestling fan of the 80’s..even the classic hard to find LJN figurines to trading cards..this place has it ALL.
John has a wealth of knowledge, not just of what he has in-store, but can talk with you about all video games, comics and sports cards and very welcoming once you’re in the store. This is a true paradise.

This is a top-tier store with reasonable prices and good staff. You will always find something you want at this shop, I guarantee it. I have been doing business with John for over 5 years and I am rarely left wanting. The maybe 2 times we have had any kind of an issue, he rectified it immediately and honestly. A lot of people in these review are judging the store for having some clutter, but people do not understand that MJ is the highest volume video game and collectible store in CT and John spends a lot of time digging through these trade ins to find treasures that will make customers happy - nobody has the same volume or quality of inventory, and the owner strives to appeal to a lot of different fan bases of different collectibles like wrestling and horror franchises.

A great experience today with my 7 year old who picked out another awesome Jayson Tatum Card and I picked out my own Roberto Clemente baseball card! We love coming here. A great spot for games and memorabilia. This is the best one I have been to in the state!

Great experience, nice products and easy transactions.  John the  Owner is excellent!!. One time I inadvertently sold my daughters “want to Keep” video games and  John promptly returned all games to me with a smile on his face.  Really great guy and completely understood my error.

The place and people there are really awesome. When me, my pa, and brother arrived, we were just lookin before we left, and I decided to get a Pokémon booster box. It had a teeny tiny dent on it, and at first I didn’t even notice, but the man who was at the front gave me a bunch of cards for it. The store is great, people are great, and I really thank them for it.

I've been coming to M&J for years now. John, the owner, is fantastic, very friendly, always answers questions and is willing to negotiate on pricing based on the condition of the item you're looking at. They've got basically wall to wall funko pops, I've had several good finds here and as someone with an extensive collection, I don't feel I've ever been charged more than market value at the time of purchase. They've got lots of collectible options from star wars to wrestling to new and old video games alike. It's a great store to just go on a treasure hunt. I scrolled through before I read my review just to see what some of the negative ones were out of curiosity. It sounds like most peoples negative experiences could have been resolved by just asking for the guy in charge, and if they were already talking to John then maybe just tell him the issue you're having. He had my daughter's xbox for a minute to be repaired, could I have gone somewhere else and maybe gotten a diagnosis faster? Maybe. But I go here because of John so I'm willing to wait a little longer to get a better one on one experience. I'd say if you haven't gone to M&J then go, check it out and if you have any issues at all you talk to John because he will do whatever he can to correct it.

The best place to buy pokeman cards. Its my son’s favorite spot. The owner is very friendly you can tell is his baby. The store is run by true passion. You feel like you’re at your favorite uncle’s  house :) always welcome !

I enjoyed coming here, they have everything you could pretty much ask for in collecting old school to new school things. I definitely will be coming back to get more cards and other collectable items. Definitely worth every penny to go back in time or stay in the present. To all the haters that say it's not organized, well that's a true collectors dream to go to a place that's actually not as bad as people say it is and find gold not in a literal sense but gold to a true collector, people that just expect perfect anywhere you go well those people need to eventually wake up cause there ain't nothing perfect in this life. Can't say enough good things about this business! The owner was super nice and informative with any questions we had. The largest collection of funko pops I've ever seen! I recently visited M & J in search of a PS3 at a negotiable price and some classic games. From the moment I stepped in with my brother, we were met with nothing but helpfulness. The staff, M & J, went above and beyond to assist us. They had multiple copies of games we had been wanting to play for a while, which was fantastic.

M & J were open to negotiations, and we ended up leaving with 2 PS3s SS and a variety of physical games (Infamous 1 & 2, GTA4, & etc)

The atmosphere of the shop brought back memories of my excitement when visiting retro stores in the past. The staff is not only welcoming but also incredibly knowledgeable about pretty much every console that has come out.

What I loved most about M & J is that it’s not just a retro gaming store. They also have collectibles and a comic book section, which I, being an avid fan, thoroughly enjoyed exploring.

Overall, I highly recommend taking the drive to M & J to experience this hidden gem. Whether you’re a retro gaming enthusiast or a fan of collectibles and comics, M & J has something for everyone.

The Shop itself is amazing and I always see myself there every weekend just to see what new stuff the owner got. The owner is also really respectful and chill as hell. I recently bought a PS3 from him and the controller ended up not working but he came in clutch with a brand new controller free of charge and I was sent on my way. Now that's good custom service. Amazing location, found out about this place while going out and around. Walked in and felt like a kid in my childhood, spent about an hour and a half and left with some of my favorite childhood yugioh cards and some Star Wars stuff too. John is incredible and with a big heart + passion for the collection. Incredibly organized given the INSANE amount of product. I will be coming back and bringing friends.

Just discovered this place a few days ago at the grand opening of their new location. If you are a wrestling fan, this is your dream store. They have a great selection of collectible Star Wars and sports merchandise too, aside from the video games of course.

Worth the drive for Retro Nintendo games and controllers. They actually have all the old systems but we are Nintendo buffs. Huge inventory, a little too much for the space, but digging for treasure is still appealing to the true hunters so with that said, either you will absolutely love this place for its huge assortment of all things or it will be off putting to feel like you walked into hoarder’s paradise. Did not get a chance to chat with staff as they were extremely busy with customers the 40 minutes I browsed. Highly recommend, will return.

I was excited to find a store that had single card boxes. I was told to stop looking through the boxes because they weren't for sale yet, even though they had prices on the cards and there were tons of boxes laying around. Too bad, I was looking forward to purchasing a ton of .50 cent cards. Maybe they will get organized and I'll be back to browse the .50 cent boxes if they are ever available.

The worst place to do any business or repairs, I dropped off my xbox series s off on February 3,along with the 50.00 dollar deposit to repair. To date I have had numerous contacts with i assume is the owner ( which is never there) and all I got was excuses and to date no return of my xbox, and now they don't even contact me . So save yourself the headache and go else where

Dirty and unorganized. If you walk in, careful not to trip on any of the boxes haphazardly strewn about the floor. Smells musty. When you enter the store nobody even says hello to you. Disappointing!

I am sorry you feel this way. we take care of all our customers.. we get a lot of trade ins in and you might of came in on a day we had a truck drop off boxes.  we give big discounts on the cards..  So let me know what your looking for. 

This store is disgustingly cluttered, good luck trying to find anything. And if you do have fun having the owner and his creepy brother breathing down your neck. There is music which is constantly blaring, and if you're looking for Pokémon cards Goodluck. It's all overpriced garbage, with next to nothing having a price tag on it so you can ask and then be pressured into whatever price they want and "can't go down" on. Not touching this place with a ten foot pole again.

I am sorry you purchased a card which was damaged. please bring it back and I will refund you the money.  I am sorry about the mishap wiith the pokemon game too it was during the time we moved and the repairs were mixed up with the boxes that went to the warehouse.

**Title: Disappointing Experience with Overpricing and Poor Service**

This is the second and final time I will ever visit M&T Video Games. My first experience, two years ago, was on my birthday. My mom and boyfriend accompanied me, and we purchased an overpriced Lucario Funko Pop, a used copy of Pokémon Snap for the Switch, and had the batteries in my Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire cartridges replaced (at $15 each). However, the store lost my games for months. After multiple visits and phone calls, the issue was only resolved when my parents got involved. The store eventually replaced the games, but the batteries were still dead, and I never received a refund for the faulty repair. Overall, I was out $30 and had to deal with months of frustration.

Fast forward two years, and I decided to give the store a second chance. I was looking for Pokémon cards, specifically reverse holo cards from the Legendary Collection (also known as firework holos). Unfortunately, nothing has improved. The store is still cluttered and disorganized, which I initially attributed to their move, but it seems to be their norm.

My main issue this time is the overpricing. My boyfriend and I were eventually shown a Golem card from 2002 after a lengthy search. Despite its noticeable flaws—a stain on both sides, a misprint line, and wear and tear—the store quoted it at $75 in near-mint condition. The lowest offer was $45, which my boyfriend felt too uncomfortable to negotiate, so we paid $50 and left with the Golem and two common cards worth $0.50 each.

After researching the card’s value, I found it’s worth about $15-$20 due to its condition, which includes an original PSA 4 grade for the misprint line only to br brought down to a PSA 1.5 grade for the staining. This means I was grossly overcharged, just like in my first experience. In total, I've lost at least $65 across both visits.

In conclusion, while M&T Video Games may be decent for Funko, baseball, or wrestling memorabilia, I strongly advise doing thorough research before purchasing anything, especially Pokémon cards. My experiences have been disappointing and costly.

As a video game collector I was interested in checking out this local shop near me and I was very dissatisfied with both my purchases as well as my experience here. I went in looking for just about anything I could find at a decent price and they did have lots of things-Almost too many things cluttered everywhere like it was a hoarder's basement, rather than a store. Anyways I picked out my items and left the store that day. That same night I took a look at one of my games which was Need for Speed Underground 2 for the OG Xbox and the disc was scuffed up beyond belief and it had marker all over the disc surface. I wiped it off as best I could and the disc did work, but l ended up getting a second copy elsewhere because the disc was so poorly scratched that it should have never even been sold in the first place. My second purchase was a steelbook of Perfect Dark Zero for the 360 and at a quick glance the disc is in great shape. But when I collect a decent amount of items sometimes it takes me a while to play the games. When I went to play it today I realized that they only sold me the Bonus disc, not the actual game. Needless to say l had to replace that one as well. This store was a mess and I felt unwelcome, so I preferred to fix these problems elsewhere rather than step foot in here again. Bottom line: if you do shop here check your prices, and your discs before leaving because my mistake costed me $36 of worthless merchandise.
