Really big place that also had music instruments and vinyl. I ended up buying 7 books that day. Definitely will be coming back

I always love going here. They have so many used books that are in great condition and much cheaper than "new" full priced books. The employees are very helpful and friendly.  I prefer this over Barnes and Noble.

Great place for comics, oddities, music, books and more. I love coming here and always end up in the store for hours. Great place to find a gift for someone too, they have practically everything.

Always a delight ! Turned in a lot of things while we were moving for some cash DVDs, games, books, and the like... They were kind enough to take the things that they didn't want to buy back so I didn't have to make a special trip to go donate them.

They are no regular book store. I always find po culture things to add to my collection. They have an awesome mixture of new and used items. This place is big so be prepared to be here for a while. The store is always clean and there is always someone around to help when needed.

If you haven’t been to a 2nd & Charles this was a great one. A ton more stuff than the one I’m used to going to. Had to wait a bit due to the checkout line being at the buyback area but it was worth it.

I always come here for a good book! They do have pretty good sales every so often. And they have a huge variety of genres and stuff other than books. They try to do a good job to keep the shelves well organized. Super clean and great mixture of new and used books!

It is clean, things are well presented, and I have only interacted with very professional and nice people. On the other hand, buying some gas can be like a bunch of birds picking some seeds, just like in any larger gas station. In general, it is pleasant, perhaps a few extra seeds will allow smoother transitions at the pump

I always enjoy coming here. I like the mix of new and used books, it's a great selection. Because they buy books, the inventory is always changing so if you visit often, you won't see the just the same stuff over and over again. The staff is young and mostly helpful. Sometimes seem a bit distracted. The buying counter pays you about what you'd expect, which isn't a lot but it's better than giving to Goodwill.

Very cool "little" store. It is a BIG store, but it feels VERY intimate. They have such an eclectic selection of all things books, magazines, Comicbooks, and even movies! Retro gaming stuff and toys, too. I spent 2 hours there just digging through comics, lol. It felt like I was only there for 10 mins. I have a feeling this book store is going to become a favorite place for me.

This place is INCREDIBLE! They put their used books IN with the new books so you have a choice of getting either and not having to look in separate areas for the same author. Every corner I turned was more and more to look at. I couldn’t get enough. Absolutely loved it here!! The employees I spoke with were very happy and just all around friendly. Helped me find a book rather quickly and was very well informed on how the series was doing at the moment. Had a hard time leaving. Will return as much as possible.

We had a great experience at this 2nd and Charles. I haven't had one since I moved to South Florida, so getting the chance during a trip was definitely taken. It is exact to other 2nd and Charles' franchises, so you will know what to expect. I found a good handful of books. Associate's helped when I was looking around. Overall, it is definitely as expected but still a good little outing for book lovers alike.

Nice second-hand book store with a nice variety of genres and well organized. They even have various clearance sections throughout and musical instruments for purchase!

The library is vast and the collection of comic books and manga can really make you feel at home only negative is they don't really give you a good price for your  selling items other than that highly recommend

Cool place with lots of stuff but sometimes their Used goods are not marked obviously.    Bought a puzzle for full price at $11 and it was sealed in a box but it was missing many pieces.   Pretty disappointing.   Saw "Used" in tiny letters on the stick...

Stopped in to checkout 2nd&Charles since we don't have one in Ocala. Massive selection of books and giftables, there's so much inventory it was a bit overwhelming for me. Staff at checkout was very friendly. Would stop by again when in Gainesville.

They have a lot of stuff...books, movies, games, x-box systems.  Appeal an to backpacks an stuff animals. The store is big... will b going back soon

I come here to check out the used video games. Sometimes you can find good deals on retro games if you collect them. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the pricing is a little bit wild sometimes. Usually things are either at about the going rate or way above (like double what the item is worth).

Still a great selection of new and used books, but lots of book, writing, and literature -related items as well -- perfect place to get your nerd on.  I especially love the selection of boardgames and media tie-in stuff. I went looking for some Lovecraft-related gifts for friends and found just the thing.  Great selection of Harry Potter, Star Wars, Edgar Allan Poe, Alice in Wonderland, and other such things.

The place can be a tad disorganized, and you need to remember to bring your own bag (they don't give any out) but still in all it's one of my go-to places to Christmas shop.

This is my former books a million when I lived in this town, and now it is home to an impressive selection of used books and other media. I’ve had some good finds, even in the video game section, during the many times I’ve been by here. Worth checking out especially if you’re looking for specific items for less. Their vinyl sections and video game sections have all gotten great deals for me. The staff is pretty friendly also. We like to stop by whenever we are in town.

Massive place with toys, games, books and vinyls. Went to look for some vinyls unfortunately didn't find what I was looking for but they have a larger collection of rock vinyls.

I wish they were better organized. I would buy some comics and movies but lack the patience to read through their entire collection hoping to find what I’m looking for…

The store was amazing and the employees were nice. The only reason I'm rating this 3 stars is because I saw a random person eating a chocolate frosty from Wendy's over the men's sink. I also went with a friend. (He doesn't believe in Christianity, so that's why he's making the face over christian *fiction*)

Thrift store dirty u. Organized very very over priced but it is for a great charity! I paid and I donated my left over cash. Pets were being given that day. Clean seemed well cared for except they needed
Ing water very hot all big dogs. Mostly Pitts. But two stole our hearts. If u had not 7 rescues I d took. One thing as 3 legs one senior Pitt mix. But I can't I have senior small breed special needs.  A lot look like they had been pit dogs. Shame. ...I did check prices for medical treatment outrageous!

This is the saddest 2nd and Charles I've ever been to. The Manga section was good but the kid section was tiny and a disaster area. So many of the science and history books were 20+ years old (what few books they had). The shelves were bending under the weight in some areas and I was half concerned they were going to collapse every time one of the kids grabbed a book. I drove 3 hours to get here since there isn't one where I live. But I won't be coming back.

I love a second-hand book store just as much as the next avid reader.

This could be just a temporary situation but the place is so disorganized it puts a home library to shame. The sections are cut up and moved around. Large sections of Books are not in the right labeled or alphabetical order.

When asked about a film option I was given a 'could be in this section or this section under this letter.' With no assistance, I went through both sections fully and came up empty. It was a bit disappointing.

I used to live in the area and shopped here regularly for books, games, etc. I remembered loving this store so I brought my friend here to check it out. I was honestly embarrassed to have recommended/suggested this store for an outing, it was so disorganized and dirty

There was a lot of staff standing around up front but we didn’t see anyone working on putting up anything, which was kinda crazy because there was stuff scattered everywhere and piled on the floor. There was a tote with a trash can liner in it and some mystery liquid. Gross.

I hope they hire people who care and fix this place up because it used to be a really cool store. I’ve worked retail and get that down time is 100% needed but it’s crazy that they would just leave merchandise scattered in the isles where people have to step around it.

2nd and Charles has always been one of my favorite stores, but after today’s visit I won’t be going back any time soon. For starters, many items sold new in the store are marked up in comparison to all the other stores carrying the same items. Prime example is the Lego sets. The King Fisher set sold for $54.99 at 2nd&C is $49.99 or less at any other retail store including Lego.com and Barnes & Noble. The new Hei Hei set sold at $42.99 is $39.99 or less elsewhere. I do understand the company has a right to charge whatever to an extent but I got to looking around and saw the same thing across the board with books, record players, games, and many other products. Yes, the used books are fairly priced for the most part but they’re are some books with price tags that don’t match the condition they’re in. I will say I bought the Hei Hei anyways as I had store credit ($94+) and wanted to make sure I used it all.
However, the real icing on the cake was “Sam” who acted like I didn’t know what I was talking about when I explained that my Driver’s license number was different from the one in the system because I recently got my CDL. He even went so far as to act like I couldn’t use my store credit without the physical copy of my old license, even though I had a picture of it and the physical copy of the new one. Thankfully the other guy that was at the registers told him to accept the photo and I was able to clear out the store credit balance. I was absolutely disgusted by the whole interaction and will not be spending any more money at 2nd and Charles.

We were looking for a certain magazine.   They do not carry magazines or maps, like if you wanted a road atlas.  However, they have a large selection of children's books, religious, mysteries, fiction, nonfiction, and a very large selection of about any other book you may be looking for. One downside was that there were only a couple of employees that we saw. One check out register

I used to love going to other 2nd and Charles locations, but they closed. I was excited to stop at this location on the way through town. But I was very disappointed. The store was very dirty, and smelled damp. I unfortunately had to use the restroom and it was in very bad disrepair. Obviously rarely cleaned, and even more rarely repaired. Sadly it is on par with the rest of the store. The employees, when they weren't talking to their friends or ignoring you, were very unhelpful. Many aisles were very disorganized. The record section was extremely disorganized and the records were haphazardly crammed into the crates or just sling around randomly. They were certainly not in the proper categories, genres, or any semblance of order.

Prices are very high on everything. Honestly, it is very clear this is a business that is in it's dying days. I would expect this location will be closed at the latest when their lease expires, or even sooner.

How are they banned if you are selling them? Oh.. they are available in stores and public libraries? Then they are Not Banned.  Get Literate! You're a freaking book store!

They were removed from age inappropriate grades! That is NOT Banned!  If parents want them reading it they can buy it from 2nd and Charles obviously!

A rip-off.  They give you pennies for you're items, then sell them at ridiculous prices.

Highly dissatisfied! They called me to come get the left overs of my books after telling me they were only offering $2, which I assumed meant they took nothing…. Nope they took almost every single item & still came in with that offer. Save yourself the time, they are a joke & will not pay you what your items are worth. Not even 10% of what the item is worth!

Came in with 5 boxes (over $1000 worth if it were new) of near mint condition hardcover comic book compilations, art books, zelda guides, mangas,  several unopened board games, and several DND books to get some cash or trade in dollars and clear up some space in the man cave. Gentlemen asked for an hour to appraise the five boxes of books. So we patiently waited an hour and half. They offered $32 cash or $64 trade in value. Because I had nothing better to do for 1.5 hours I had walked around the store several times where I found the exact books I'd brought to be appraised: being sold for $50 plus dollars each...  Cost of running a business or pure greed. I let you decide.

As much as I have loved and supported this establishment, I hate to say that I am disappointed in some of their policies and they could change.

I had some knowledge about their buy backs rates being low but they need to work on time management, an hr and half past when I was told my offer would be ready. That's fine I found things to do, things come up. But they were not busy so idk why it took 2 and a half hrs. AFTER the offer was ready, I was told they can't tell you the prices of anything. OK. Not only that. They can't take away something. They would have to redo everything else. Ok so I said I would leave everything else besides one thing and come back the next day. I was told I couldn't. That I would have to haul everything back tomorrow and wait another couple of hrs for a new offer. No good reason as to why. I, of course declined the offer and said I would not be coming back the next day.

Waste of time! They need to explain these things beforehand!

A big box around seventy dvds i had to carry in and I'm disabled.  They will rip you off near 70 DVDs 12 bluray and so.e books after 6 hours I go to get my offer finally and it was 9.40$ are you kidding me, a pack of vultures. Don't sell anything there because you will get ripped off... mic drop

Every time I try to stop in there to sell DVDs, there's a two or more hour wait. Today I tried, and they say it won't be until tomorrow. That would be fine, if I didn't live an hour away or had other options. The management needs to address this issue. I could kill an hour, maybe a little more shopping there, which is how long this should take at the most. I'm not impressed with this place.

I used to love this place, the clearance book wall was organized and had fantastic book deals. Now the books back there are ratty and basically just self-help or coping types of books that are disorganized and in bad shape. Loved this place during undergrad and coming back as a grad student seeing it in its current state was so disappointing. Hoping they get back to what they used to be as a store.

It used to be more organized, no near perfect, but now not at all.  Staff acts like they don't know what they are doing.  Used to be a nice store at okish prices.  Now I wouldn't go back.  Go to Books.A.Millons same stuff much better atmosphere and has the same stuff and you get the membership price is comparable.

When we arrived we saw within the movies section a special buy two get two. My wife and I spent easily half an hour deciding what to get, only to go to the register and be told to pay full price.

It was explained that these deals ended Wednesday and they "just hadn't taken it down yet". WHAT?! So I lost time and paid twice what I intended because no one could pull up a few pieces of paper on some shelves.

I cannot begin to express my anger and frustration at this situation and I will NOT be back despite having easily spent half a grand within the past few months.

Hope being lazy was worth losing our business.
