Books and retro video games for cheap. No complaints there!

Always a fun day when you go to this shop.  LOTS AND LOTS of books to find.  This location had a lot of fun staff working this day.  They were so friendly and helpful.

Great place with vintage video games (PS2,PS3,Xbox 360,) they've got comic books, vinyls , Funko pops, figurines, guitars, shirts, and books. Fun store to stop by and I'm sure you'll find something you like .

I'm more into finding video games that I used to play than the other stuff sold here, and it really helped searching because it was organized well.

This has an eclectic mix of everything from books and movies to stuffed animals and Funko pops.  Quite a collection of D and D / fantasy items as well.

I always deal with second and Charles they are friendly very nice and a good place to trade away your old DVDs and games for new stuff!

I love this store! Being an avid reader, I could stay for days. There is a seating area to read. There are a plethora of authors to choose from and any genre you can imagine. I would much rather come to this store than any big box store.

Multiple Wonderful selections! Tons of amazing books. Vintage toys & video games. Funko Pops, Loungefly sweatshirts & backpack purses!! Many popular & cult classic characters on a variety of products! The employees I encountered were amazing!!

Fun place to geek out on a great selection of books, comics, games, toys, and music. The staff is also friendly, helpful, and informative. The store is always spotless and well-organized, too.

Love visiting and seeing new and used books. Have found some amazing books on Malcolm X and other significant Blacks and Hispanics.

What a great treat this place is! So many great reading choices to choose from at unbelievable prices.  We picked up several books for less then $20 and our nieces who were with us found a few really cool things they really liked. So many great little toys and trinkets. You can even get music equipment here. Staff was very helpful and the place was very clean as well. Check this place out!

First time in this store and it's massive. They have every book, comic, or manga you could possibly want. They had harry potter merch, anime figures, guitars, DVDs, Xbox and PlayStation games, used consoles, I mean everything. It was truly impressive!

This location has a great selection of books compared to other book stores in the area. Hard to say whether the returned books were ever used, so good quality. Fun trinkets, decorations, games and more; not only books. Cool place.

I LOVE this place. The selection of items, not just books, is amazing. I almost always find what I'm looking for. If you are looking for a particular book, you can even call ahead and ask, and the staff will put the book on hold for a couple of hours so it's waiting for you! The staff is always friendly! I love this store so muxh!

Always like a fun Scavenger hunt, you never know what goodies you will find. I once went in to get some Doctor Who merch, I had found the 11th Doctor, Adipose and 2 Dalek Funko, and I was joking with my husband about how cool it would be if I just looked over and found 10th Doctor (by far my favorite Doctor) on the Shelf by my hand( 💁🏻‍♀️) and I looked over to where my hand was and would you believe that that's exactly what I found!?!? I almost cried I was so happy. Took him home that day and have had nothing but amazing experiences anytime I visit.

I love this place so much!! I go to every other month to buy a book and the staff are always so helpful and quick with helping you find it. That day I went to go find Anne Rice's 'Interview With the Vampire" and they helped me find it really quickly. There are a ton of trinkets and goodies in here to catch the eye. It's usually not too busy and if it is then the line gets handled fairley quickly. Again , I definitely recommend 2nd & Charles if you're exploring Town Center or are looking for a good book/geek store. :)

Cool variety of new & used stuff, for all ages! I use the trade service to de-clutter my video game collection. It's better to get store credit vs. cash, with any trade. Books, toys, collectibles, posters, vinyl, and: video games, of course!

Absolutely love this store!! It’s my go to store for gifts for literally anyone of any age!!! They have some of the coolest and funniest things you’ll see!! And the staff here is super friendly and helpful also!! Never once had a bad experience here, I love coming to this place!!!!!

You could get lost in this store for hours.
They sell music, books, video games, board games, collectables, etc.
They sell new and used.
The "last chance" shelf has bogo books for as low as a dollar.

I love going to 2nd & Charles and just hanging out, enjoying the atmosphere. I often trade my unwanted collectibles in for in-store credit, and I've traded in and spent quite a bit at this store. Their selection is great!

Updated review - still solid! I actually live farther away now, but still make the drive occasionally to check out their fun stuff. This time I got a hat as a gift for a friend, a demon slayer magnet, and a pac man pin!

I've been going to 2nd and Charles almost every other week to find anything new that has been brought to the store.
Staff are always friendly and great with any questions or help I've needed.

There is a huge selection of everything from books,music,movies,comics and games and sold at very reasonable prices.

Just went here with my dad yesterday (2/6/23) and I absolutely loved it!
They have all the books you could think of, lots of plushies, fidget toys, puzzles, music albums, movies, a sell and trade center, some comfy chairs to relax in, and they even have guitars!
I haven’t used their bathrooms yet so can’t comment on that but I will update you when I do!

A must visit experience for every book, manga, game, movie, and music lover. I could spend hours here! A huge selection of unique titles perfect for every sort of collector. Really great place to buy manga, books, games, and collectibles! I always enjoy my time there and I was able to find things I wanted pretty easily. The staff was nice and helped me look for certain Manga! I managed to pick up a funko pop I didn't think was going to be in stock!

Great shopping experience! You wouldn't even realize you're looking at used books. It's set up like a traditional big box bookstkre which is actually kind of a relief. There's a time and a place for perusing the little dusty bookshop but this is an all together different experience. They have several locations up the coast so I highly recommend seeing if there's one near you!

Just wow. This is an amazing store! It's like Hot Topic, BAM, and FYE had a baby. Tons of cool items, staff is very friendly.

You can enter this place for one thing and leave with twenty things you had no idea that you can't live without. Cheap used DVDs, great comic and book selection, and amazing clearance finds throughout the store. Very friendly staff as well. Make sure you bring a bag. They don't give them but have some for sale.

Pretty good book store. Definitely need a bigger horror section.

Wish they would organize their funko pops section where you can see all of them. Don't really like the way they have them 2 or 3 rows deep.

Great store kind of a combination between FYE and Barnes & Noble.

More than just a book store! First time ever coming here as a suggestion from my sister and her kids. My kids loved it so much...too much probably! Huge selection of items not in your regular book store, plus used and even free items! Spent an hour just walking around seeing all they had. My boys loved the Mario, Animal Crossing, and Sonic things. My one downfall was the number of knick knack toys near checkout, which I guess is typical of most stores. But my kids had to touch each thing, play with it, beg to buy it, etc. But for the older kids and adults, definitely a place to check out!

OK selection of board games (including used games) but prices are VERY hit or miss.  No bags at checkout (a pain when xmas shopping)!

It's kind of hit or miss depending on what you're looking for exactly.  Sometimes you'll find exactly what you're looking for other times not so much.  Staff seems to mill around and talk amongst themselves.  Think the GameStop version of trinkets and stuff

Good selection of used books, just don't expect them to honor CLEARLY advertised discounts. They currently have their calendars marked half off, but I was charged full price anyway. If the half off pricing is a discount only available to some customers, they should mark that more clearly.

They have a ton of books and a decent amount of games and figurines which is nice. Their prices however are hit or miss. Some are decently priced and other items are way over priced.

The employees could use some work. The one who rang me up kept their headphone on and was obnoxiously chewing and snapping gum the entire time.

Been going here plenty since it opened, including being a fan of the parent company. They have a pretty cool selection of items, including some I generally can’t find anywhere else locally. They get cool stuff on trade-ins, deals can be pretty good as well.

My only gripe is they don’t offer bags. In a place like the TC, walking around (even in this side strip) and not offering a bag is ridiculous. Since we don’t live in one of the states that taxes bags, people don’t always bring them with them intuitively (nor should they have to, but I suppose that is a debate better left off here), and this policy keeps me from buying stuff I would have bought without it.

Spent nearly a thousand dollars on comics, only to find out when I double checked my receipt at home that I had been double-charged for multiple $80 items. After reviewing the receipt, it was clear the cashier had accidentally scanned some items multiple times. Even after correcting a double charge once while at the register.

To make matters worse, most of the items here are in worse condition than what you’d find at standard retail stores, yet they still charge a premium. Every visit has been disappointing, and this will be my last.

What made the double charge even more frustrating was that the items in question had already been removed from their display cases by checkout. Most display case items are rare or unique, meaning they don’t have multiples in stock. There was no reason I should have been charged twice for a Japanese *JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure* box set—an expensive item to begin with.

On top of that, there were 5-6 employees standing at the front, yet only one register was open. The cashier was clearly overwhelmed, and my wife and I had to wait by the display cases, making eye contact with staff multiple times before anyone helped us. After waiting about 15 minutes, we finally just got in the checkout line to request the items, which ultimately led to the double charge.

Having been to multiple bookstores and comic shops, I’d honestly recommend just going elsewhere. Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, or your local comic shop will have better prices and more helpful staff. Even Amazon consistently beats retail prices by 25-40% across manga, comics, records, and books.

As someone who recently got back into collecting, it’s disappointing to see the scene like this.

Cool selection, awful pricing. Bought an opened and obviously used Wes Anderson film and was dinged $15. I didn’t notice the price since I was with my family purchasing other items. Amazon has similar or better prices for new stuff.

Used to be great. Have had multiple issues lately and now am convinced they do not check the DVDs they intend to sell to ensure they work. Below are the details.

I bought a 2 disc limited edition, sealed copy of Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Put it on my DVD shelf at home until a week or so later, opened it to find the disc inside the sealed box was Pirates of the Caribbean 2.

I took it back to exchange it, no copies were at the same price so had to pay more for the new copy I had to buy, no even exchange was offered, even though the new one I was getting was the same movie without the bonus disc. Per my DVD player, the new copy I have is encrypted and unplayable, so will probably throw it away. Buying the DVD I want from somewhere else now whenever I can find it. Will not be buying DVDs from here again.

Also bought DVD Season 1 of Mash from here, the second disc has disc rot and is unplayable, but the rest are fine. 3 strikes, you're out. My suggestion would be to actually make sure the discs you intend to sell actually will work.

Been coming here for a while now and have loved it. I have always had great customer service and a chill time inside. Today I went to sell books for the first time because I had no idea they did that. When I walked in a lady pointed me to the correct counter and let me walk over and wait before I was rudely told that buyback was closed. I proceeded to ask what the hours were as I came well before an hour of closing and was talked down to like I am 5. The lady said as you can see I'm backed up so if you dropped off today the earliest I could get to it would be Monday. I still have no clue when they are resuming buybacks as that was all I would listen to before leaving. I was thinking about buying something too, but now I feel uncomfortable being in there at all today and I am not sure if I will get the courage to sell again due to awaiting rude customer service. So sad to have to leave a review like this on my favorite place.

So I signed up for the membership program with second Charles I want to say at least 3 weeks ago. When I signed up for this rewards program I expected more but when I attempted to sell my books back that I recently purchased from them out of 12.00 the most they wanted to offer me on the buyback was 45 cents in cash or 75 cents as a gift card.

I don't know how long or others have been dealing with the same issue but this definitely needs to be addressed it's too much money that we're putting into these books to receive nothing out of it.

I became so frustrated with the rewards program I asked them to remove me and help me out of the program it makes no sense to keep a program that is not going to be beneficial for me but only for the company.

I brought dvds to the town center store Jacksonville Florida and was told that they are at capacity. So why have it on your website if you're not going to take them. I would encourage everyone to take your dvds to your local large libraries.

I have come here a total of 6 times. We live 45min away and I swear, without fail, it is ALWAYS something.
They are overstocked and not taking kids books, or they aren’t taking video games at this time or not taking board games or way behind and won’t get to our lot until tomorrow but then only give us that day to pick up the cash offer. They are always super rude. Not to mention their books are waayyy over priced for used, that’s is unless it’s hanging for dear life by a thread then you can get it for the low low price of 3$.

I used to go to this place in Alaska called Title Wave and this place should take lessons from them on how to run a business

They tried to offer me $14 cash for $100 worth of PS1 games and a toy from 2001 worth at least $40-50

I found a used vinyl record that I was interested in. It just had a clear jacket protector that had a piece of tape on it. I took it to the check out counter and asked if it could be opened so I could see what the quality of the record was. I was told they weren't allowed to open them. Why would you sell used records if you're not willing to let the customer look at it first? So, I'll never go there again.

TEACHERS BEWARE!!!! I’m so mad because I loved this place. I have a collection of 500+ books in my middle school classroom library and they are ALL from 2nd and Charles. Unfortunately I won’t be going back to the store. Despite the skyrocketing prices and the fact that the once BI ANNUAL teacher buy 5 get 5 sale has not happened in a year, I went in September 15th and bought 10 books. I realized I left my teacher ID back at home…an hour away! I showed the following as means of proof I am a teacher: my health insurance card with my school district on it, my current school website with my name and position (paired with my drivers listened to prove I am the person on the school website), photos of myself in the classroom, pulling up my FLDOE certificate, my school issued laptop with the district name and my government name, even a digital copy of my school ID and the sales associate remained insistant that she needed my physical school ID. She was belittling and rude. I wanted to leave the books, but already had students in mind for some of them. I knew how much the kids would enjoy these books, and didn’t want them to be impacted by the sales associate’s cruelty. I once told all teachers how much they NEED to go to 2nd and charles if they want an affordable way to build a classroom library. Now…STAY AWAY! Book outlet has fast shipping and honestly beats 2nd and charles pricing every time these days. and the books are new. Goodwill is a little more of a hunt for good books, but it doesn’t get more expensive than $2. Just stay away from this place.

First time experience! I brought in three large tubs of Blu-ray DVDs. Quite a few still sealed and a handful special edition ones in metal cases. Upon picking up They told me that they do not look at them they only recycle DVDs and I was offered $.10 a DVD. $40 in store credit and only $20 in cash. Definitely was not worth the hassle of taking them in there. If I was told this upfront, I would not have taken them in. I was told the first time I brought them in and asked about it that they would appraise them and make an offer per DVD. Waste of time this place is a rip off
