About This Store

P & J's Edelweiss is a unique antique store located in Alton, Illinois that has been a go-to destination for vintage enthusiasts for many years. According to reviews, this store offers a truly immersive shopping experience, with one customer describing it as "a wild ride" filled with an "explosion of stuff."

The inventory at P & J's Edelweiss is eclectic and diverse, ranging from dolls and beer glasses to rollerblades and fur coats. As one reviewer noted, "there is a LOT going on in this place" - the store is packed to the brim with an overwhelming array of vintage and antique items. Dedicated shoppers are rewarded with the thrill of the hunt, as described by Sydnie Rushing: "This isn't the type of place that's neat and tidy with things set in vignettes around pretty settings. Its the kind of place you want to really engage with to find those special gems."

Customers praise the reasonable pricing at P & J's Edelweiss, with Sydnie Rushing noting that "Price point is reasonable." However, the store does have a unique policy of asking customers to leave their bags behind the counter, which the same reviewer felt was ultimately a positive, explaining that "you'll prefer that once you start looking through things."

While one reviewer found the store to be a bit overwhelming and not entirely clean, particularly in the basement section, the overall sentiment is extremely positive. As Joe Lorenz simply states, "Old school. A must stop," and e miner declares it "The best store." Sydnie Rushing sums up the experience, saying, "you'll will always find something new" at P & J's Edelweiss.

This has been my go-to for antiques and vintage finds for many years because you'll will always find something new. This isn't the type of place that's neat and tidy with things set in vignettes around pretty settings. Its the kind of place you want to really engage with to find those special gems. Price point is reasonable. One thing to know up front, the owner asks you to leave your bags behind the counter... but honestly you'll prefer that once you start looking through things.

A wild ride- there is a LOT going on in this place. From dolls to beer glasses to rollerblades to VCR movies to metal signs to fur coats, this is a loosely organized explosion of stuff. Get ready to dig. Only 4 stars because there is just so much stuff crammed in (to the point of it being overwhelming; narrow walkways), little clear organization, and didn't feel very clean in some parts. I didn't find anything worth buying, but the owner was very nice. Note the store is cash or check only. As of September 2020 masks are required, but honestly I'd wear one even without a pandemic- smelled meldew-y, especially in the downstairs basement section.
