About This Store

Tinner's Anvil Antiques is a unique antique store located in the historic town of Alton, Illinois. Specializing in primitive, farm-style, and industrial antiques, this shop aims to provide customers with a diverse and eclectic selection of vintage treasures.

According to the store's Facebook page, Tinner's Anvil was founded in 2011 by Dennis, who has been collecting antiques for over 40 years. His passion for early American antiques began during his time in the Navy, stationed in Washington D.C., where he had the opportunity to view some of the nation's earliest artifacts. After retiring, Dennis decided to open his own shop, drawing inspiration from an anvil that was gifted to him, which he viewed as more of a sculptural piece than a functional tool.

Reviewers praise the well-organized and clean presentation of Tinner's Anvil, with one customer noting the "great arrangements" and "interesting" selection that is "displayed well." Another reviewer describes the shop as "beautiful" and "full of unique and interesting items," highlighting the fair prices and friendly service.

The inventory at Tinner's Anvil is diverse, with customers reporting a wide range of antiques, including "old handmade doll houses, antique rocking horses, trunks, buttons, marbles, hutches, antique photo albums, stain glass windows, door knobs, [and] antique baby furniture." One reviewer emphasizes that the store has "treasures to explore" for "every price range."

Tinner's Anvil seems to be a hidden gem for antique enthusiasts in the Alton area, offering a unique and well-curated selection of vintage items in a welcoming and organized environment.
