Loved this place. Very peaceful atmosphere. The people were so nice.

I almost didn’t want to share this location because I’m scared all the vintage items will sell out! Ha ha ha I had things I’d been wanting to donate for a long time and randomly picked this location. I’m so glad I decided to shop because I found some amazing items here! I was so impressed at the selection of vintage furniture upon entering. In my opinion everything was greatly priced. The bottom of the store is dedicated mostly to bigger furniture pieces. The upstairs is where the clothes are. As well as smaller house items, toys and more! There were fitting rooms with mirrors and little benches. The clothes were priced at VERY affordable prices compared to other thrift stores like goodwill. Some areas were messy but it didn’t bother me at all. Especially considering that the workers are in recovery and the proceeds benefit them. It’s a non profit business and I was told the proceeds go toward the recovery of the people in the program as well as a men’s shelter. I’m all for the cause! The workers were so friendly as well and were excited for my finds too! I can’t wait to revisit and to add more vintage items to my home.

Walked in and was greeted with a smile and made to feel very welcome. I was directed to the exact location of what I needed in the store. Extremely organized shop. I will be back.

I just started thrifting here recently and I love this place! Prices are affordable (even the “premium” tagged items) and there’s always sales which is so nice! There are also dressing rooms available to try on items. The store itself is very clean and organized and the employees are kind and helpful! Love coming here~

I enjoy going to Hometown thrift store a couple times a week everyone is so friendly and so nice they always have something for me to buy and walk out the door with in with a smile on my face that's one of my favorite place to go

I recently donated items to this store and I must say the two young men that came to pick up the items, were hardworking, kind and very Grateful and Respectful. I would like to encourage others to please donate to this establishment because their doing great things for others and their employees.

Im sick of hearing the negative reviews. These people that work there are all in recovery. Damn have a heart not all people are as perfect as you all. The prices are cheap.  learn how to negotiate a price.

They have great deals for good furniture and clothes and are very helpful. They also do delivery for a reasonable price and donation pickups if the furniture is in usable condition. Plus all the money generated goes to help the Better Roads Recovery home in Hammond and the City Rescue Mission.

All proceeds go to support Better Roads ahead addictions  program so every purchase goes to help someone make a better life. Working with a program that volunteers at many of the local thrift stores I see the prices of the competition and they seem very competitive at hometown thrift. Unfortunately no thrift store can compete with garage sales but they try here! And no I'm not an employee.

I have had very very good experience here! To anyone who whats to BIT** needs to go to good will or salvation army and check their prices. I love this store and will keep going back there for years on end. I also have a sectional i bought from there 2 yrs ago and still in great shape and works fine. Like any store check it out before you buy or u will get burned! thats like anywhere look before u buy even when brand new

Nice Neat Clean and plenty of merchandise

Most of the furniture I have in my house I found at Hometown thrift. All of it is in good shape and the prices were great! Very happy with what I have found there.

I USED to think this place was 5 stars hands down..... I have been ordering and donating with this place since before their fire in Gary, Indiana leaving them to move to Hammond. However, I am now I am a bit of a dissatisfied customer. Why? Because I feel they have kind of screwed their customers. Delivery used to be 30 bucks, now it's 40...ok ok I get it with gas up I guess, but I was also told that they will no longer bring my items into my home - that's what a delivery charge is for. If that's the case why am I giving you guys 40 bucks? I don't even live 40 bucks worth of gas away and your guys are just going to drop it off outside??? What a crock. I mean really...

Nice stuff kinda on the high price side.not a whole lot of selection. Great deals on plate sets $5 for a whole set!

The people working there are really hit and miss.  Some of them have creeped me out to the point I actually left, some are really nice and helpful though.

Overall not a bad place, clothes purchases would be fine here but their furniture was either over priced or completely broken. Or both. I think they had maybe one piece I'd consider but it was missing the glass doors. For the price of some of the furniture I could buy new.

We called 1 week prior to offering a generous donation of 38 Quuen size beds & boxsprings. We spoke with Mike Reed who told us they would be happy to take the donation & they will be able to pick it up on Wed May 24th between NOON and 2PM. He also told me I will get a courtesy call to  confirm the pick up at 11am. I never got the courtsey call- so, we called them. I spoke with a guy named JR. who told me they will be here within 45 minutes. well after 1 1/2 hours passed I called again.... This time I spoke with a differnt guy who was the driver- He never even left the facility and then told us that it will be another hour or so. I would not recommend this place for any donations if you have a time frame or if you are running a business. We were set up for pick up between NOON and 2PM - and as of now at 2pm we are still waiting and the driver according to him has not even left yet!!!!! Horrible place when it comes to keeping their word and communication is NON-EXISTING!!!!!!

I dont go to stores to listen to people trying to preach to me furst off an second its over priced for run down furniture the manager really needs to step back an take a look from the buyers point of veiw instead of trying to burn a new whole in the customers pocket

I think it's not good for business to post something for sale and have it sitting at the front entrance like it's still for sale!! The cashier was like that's mine it has my name on it. Ok that's perfectly fine but why post it if you all are going to sale it to your employees 🤔  and have them brag about  it 👎👎 since it's your's remove it so NO ONE see's it and would like to purchase it. That's the smart thing to do.

Walked in this place to find it’s nothing like the pictures. I understand that inventory changes daily but the pictures make this place look amazing they had nothing . It was very disappointing to make the drive for nothing .

Horrible place will never  shop here again. They are a scam completely  criminals.  Bought a matress from them it was in perfect condition  in the store. Even thou they were lying about the model and what kind of matress it was. Still paid for it . Apon delivery  the drivers admitted  the damaged  the matress, it was ripped and stained.  When speaking to Rebekah  at the store she was rude and shady  refused to refund  finally after telling her we have them on camera admitting the damage and that i heard her tell her driver they caused it . She agreed to refund but not the delivery charge.  Then she said she couldn't find the recipt5 to refund ate credit card. So  we told her we would report her if it was refunded . Then her driver said  even with the damage  that they were gonna sell it for same  amount  anyway. They do not donate to charity its a ripp off.

Wouldn't advise anyone to go there for furniture it's over priced. It was much cheaper when they were in hobart .They jacked the prices way up since they moved to the hood. I can add a few dollars more for new furniture and the lady that was working was rude and unfriendly.

Complete disappointment.  Used to be a nice store when in Hobart with very nice and plentiful furniture.  Went to the Hammond location looking for a nice sitting chair. The few chairs there were on a shelf above your head and all garbage.

Looks nice from outside but the store is completely CLOSED AND HOUR EARLY!!! I drive 30 min and it’s closed early. Call first or be disappointed like I am now.

Disappointed, especially after reading glowing reviews.  We called 7 June 2016 for a pick-up of a full bedroom suite of furniture.  {Queen bed, frame, & headboard.  5 drawer chest of drawers, a 9 drawer bureau, 2 - 2 drawer bed side tables, with or with mattress and box springs].  We were told they could be Friday or Saturday, 10 or 11 June.  Initially I said Sat would be best as we had to empty all of the drawers, dissemble the bed from frame and headboard, and move to front of house.

On Friday, between opening and 11:00 .m. I called back, speaking with different person stating that I had completed the project and that the furniture was read for pick-up today, if they could.  He stated that they were booked for the day and that Saturday was still a good and that they would be here between noon and 1:00 p.m, "without fail, promise."

I said fine as I has a community project helping to build a wheelchair ramp at the house of an elderly church member beginning at 8:30 a.m. and that I would be home by noon.

By 2:00 p.m. they had not called and were a no show.  I called the store and spoke with a 3rd and 4th person who stated, we are busy and can not make the pick-up.  I asked:''  Don't you think it would be more professional to advise that you were unable to show up.  When there is a problem, you should call as soon as you find you can not perform the service, not ignore your potential client.

After a long, somewhat irritating, conversation he stated the the pick up would be made today, Monday, 13 June 2016.  As of this time and writing I have not received a call advising whether or not will be here, as promised, or when.

Very Undependable

Place smells, dirty, nasty people. Merchandise is garbage!

this place has OVERPRICED GARBAGE!! do not believe the 15 plus positive reviews for this place. it is all a big fat lie!!!! all these reviews are coming from people who work there. this place should be investigated because they seem to charge prices so high for sofas in better condition than the truely needy can afford. i want to make sure none of the  proceeds are being pocketed. shop at own risk!
