I also have consigned furniture and other items with them so I know how particular they are about the quality of anything they accept for resale. This is a wonderful place run by good people. This place has an excellent variety of home items! I recommend this store for everything from a good neutral sofa to a great accent chair. Go in frequently. Furniture and decor turn over quickly.

Lots of very nice pieces and sets, but room to walk around and look.  Reasonable prices that drop by 15-25% if you are willing to risk waiting a couple of weeks. Staff is very helpful and available.

Fascinating place with a lot of unique, high quality pieces of furniture and decor.  Prices seemed very reasonable to me.  Their inventory seems to turn quickly, so I anticipate stopping in whenever I visit KC.

This store is always active and is an inviting place.  It is packed with a large selection of high quality and/or high end second hand furnishings (rugs, furniture, holiday decor, wall hangings, collectibles, etc.) at reasonable prices.  I am amazed every time I visit, and it’s fun to meander through the many little organized vignettes to see all that is in the store.  Dropping off your own items for sale is a methodical process; and calling ahead for an appointment is always best so the staff can minimize disruptions for shoppers.

First timer, great customer service! Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. I had my young daughter with me and they were very kind even with her being a kid doing kid things. Prices are on the higher end but everything is quality. I thought items were priced fairly for what they were. I do a lot of consignment shopping/sales specifically furniture.

The staff are friendly, the selection is great and changes frequently. The ticket prices are a bit high but they have an awesome discount program.

We use a variety of sources to determine pricing for our items but we don't always get it right and we welcome your feedback.

Recently moved, much bigger, however, prices have gone up on everything. They need to be careful on the used items, but it's a great store. I always buy something.

Walked in on a spur, just looking for consignment store in the area. Glad Google maps offered this choice! And lucky me...they were having an Open House. Drawings, beverages, and lovely items. I bought 3 Christmas home decor items, and a lovely vintage tray. I have my eye on a couple larger items to go back for!
Stop in some time. You may find something you didn't know you needed!

I thought this place was cute and had lots of options but it personally wasn’t for me. The prices were not reflective of used furniture in my opinion they had very high end pieces. I’d say come here for something unique and not necessarily thrifty.

Walked into the store for the first time last Friday just to look around and see what they had to offer. I was impressed by the quality and selection of the furniture.  The items in the store were in good shape (lightly used). I did not feel like I was shopping used furniture. The prices seemed good to me. So much so I ended up buying an area rug that wasn't even on my potential shopping list. Becky and store staff were welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be stopping and shop there again.

I bought an end table which was exactly what I wanted. Price was 50% of exact table I'd buy online. Not a nick or scratch!  I consider that and my immediate happiness a 5 star experience.

I live in the St Louis metro area, and wish this store was closer to me. I never miss an opportunity to shop here when I'm in the KC area. Fair pricing, great selection, well-curated displays.

What a hidden gem! Consignment store par excellence!! A dazzling selection of great furniture as well as wall decor, seasonal decor, table top, and even some funky unusual items ! You'll have fun discovering lots of cool things for your home! I sure did ( next time I'll leave my CC at home & only bring my debit card)!!!

I love everything about Couches to Curious.   When I consign they are amazing.   When I shop they are pleasant & helpful.  Can't get enough of this place.  I constantly recommend them to friends & family.

Quality furniture consignment store, not antiques but good, solid classics. It's not the place to go for Victorian, shabby chic or mid century modern. But if you are in the market for investment pieces at a reasonable price, this is the place. I always see something I want.

Best consignment and used home furnishings in KC area - based on purchasing and consigning experience.  Plus nicest owners and sales assistants.  A very eclectic mix of items and prices.  Seasonal changes made and redecorating to keep the place looking fresh.

Fantastic Finds Here!!!!  Was able to drop of half a house of furniture and Payment was on time and was kept informed about pieces that took a little longer to sell. Also has Great finds for my new place.  Staff was Very helpful, I even have them call me if something they know I am looking for comes in

I see a lot of comments about the pricing being too high.  I disagree with this a little bit. There are different levels of 2nd hand stores.  This particular shop tries to find furniture and curios that look almost new in all their products.  Pricing then would be higher.  There are also 2nd hand stores where  furniture  are not in like new condition. Pricing is lower and may need a bit of refurbishing.  I bought a table for $28 that I needed to repair and re stain at another store. Recently purchased a chair at this store. Looked in excellent condition with nice upholstery in a fabric I liked.  A reasonable price.  To purchase a chair like this at Pottery Barn would be at least double the money.   All 2nd hand stores can haggle or not.  Many feel they're  Pricing is fair so don't typically haggle.  Of course a shopkeeper that is helpful and courteous is always expected. My experience was good.

3 stars for the kind of expensive prices, but 5 stars on the ingenious pricing system where markdowns are set by date and displayed on the sales ticket.  Lots of beautiful & unique pieces.

Gorgeous furniture from estate sales. Love the paintings on the walls. Bought a set of 4 copper canisters I had been admiring from afar. Furniture with class, not what is produced today.

Check out the new items at nice prices. Great selection of couches, desks, tables, cabinets, and other curios! Always fun to shop for unique furniture to bring home!

We've frequented this store for the last couple of years, usually looking for art and glassware. The employees are always great and very friendly. The store is clean and loaded with lots of items. As others have mentioned, the prices are meant to be 60% of the original piece's value, but often that seems too high for what you get considering the condition of the piece. However, they do get cheaper for each month they are in the store.

Recently, I was surprised to see that an accent chair we had donated to the nearby thrift store was at Couches to Curios within a few days of donation. I was completely flabbergasted to see that they posted it for $350! This is a chair we 1) bought from Nebraska Furniture Mart nine years ago, 2) was a brand I can find nothing about online, and 3) was almost exclusively used by our dog for the last 5 years. Needless to say, I am now even more skeptical of their pricing.

I visited the store and I had managed several consignment stores over the last 15 yrs. The staff was friendly and helpful. Store was clean and inviting but.... Prices are high for age and condition. The person pricing really needs to do more research and get out and shop the other furniture retailers to see they are priced too high for used. To say your 60% is ok but you really need to look at each piece based on age and condition. Need to be more like 70-75% off for what you have.
Take some advice from a consignment veteran
Lower prices so you turn faster and keep your floor fresh for you customers. I found you always want keep them coming back and if it's priced too high they see the same thing over and over again.
But a beautifully merchandised store!

My daughter and I love going into the store.  They have some fabulous items.  However we always leave empty handed as I am not part of the 1% who can afford to make a purchase.  I have been reading the reviews and everyone loves the store but the pricing seems to be the main issue that people have with the merchandise.    I see that both the management and the owners acknowledge this and apologize for the customer feeling that the pricing is high and try to explain down why the prices are the way they are.  I have shopped many other consignment shops and the management has always been willing to negotiate with me.  There is none of that here.  Although we will continue to stop in to get ideas we will probably never purchase there which is unfortunate as we really do find a lot of items we would love to have in our home.

Honestly was pretty irritated going in here. It's beautiful but seriously their used pieces are overrrr retail price. I heard the owner talking about their extensive data base for market value.......same pieces next door at the thrift shop for less than half. Come on. Price  Gouched!

Use to love this place.  Now...their prices seem high.  Great selection.  Great staff.  They are there to help, but let you browse too.  Just wish they would have stuck to lower prices.

Visited for the first time looking for solid furniture that I could refurbish.  Thinking thrift.  I was actually shocked at the prices.  Then I realized the furniture was great quality and we don’t find that much anymore.  Gorgeous pieces everywhere enjoyed seeing the store.  However the prices were not for me I’m too thrifty!

Unique finds priced extravagantly high. You can often find the same pieces at the actual consignment store next door for 1/10 of the price. Fun to look then buy somewhere else that has prices reflective of second hand pieces. If anything, I would consider this place to be an upscale reseller of refurbished furniture.

Lot’s of overpriced stuff. Spend just a little more and you could easily get new.  Over the years I have visited this store a few times and walked out empty handed every time. Pricing is just to high for used stuff and I were lucky enough to find a treasure,  there is no doubt in my mind it would be priced like a treasure.  Just made my last visit. Not worth my time when there are so many other good consignment stores in the area.

Hi Rebekah, thank you for letting us know what happened. This type of review is disappointing for any business to receive but this one in particular will help us improve our customer service.  We have a "no hold" policy in place for many reasons but in your case we should have made an exception.  Because you were driving into town and called ahead to let us know, we should have placed the chair on a brief hold until you had a chance to look at it.  Another customer who had been looking at the chair came in and purchased it before you arrived.  I have since instructed the staff to made exceptions to our policy so this does not happen again.  I am sorry this happened and I am sorry to lose a customer.  We will take your review and improve our procedures.

Offered $425 for a lift chair for my disabled brother-  lady on phone accepted offer-  we drove truck and trailer over immediately, within 15 minutes, this lady sold the chair out from under us to someone else!! Only shop here if you love unprofessional ethics and rude service!!!! (3/18/25)

At Couches to Curios we strive to make the shop a warm and welcoming environment and this was not your experience and for that I am very sorry. I have been to this business 3 times  in the last 6 months, my 3rd and last visit was 09/12/2024. I saw a Gucci and Louis Vuitton bag when I first walked in the store the wokers looked at me and my Husband like we had diseases, this is not the first time. We are working, tax paying African Americans and we work for everything we have. We were not greeted, I am standing in front of the glass cabinet where the purses are no one asked did I need any help I guess they thought I was window shopping. This is the most racist consignment store I ever step foot in. This was another example that racism still exists in America.

We strive for excellent customer service and I am very sorry that you had a negative experience.  I will share your review with my staff and I thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.

I felt I was treated rudely and coldly by the staff and most likely a manager. He reprimanded me and 10 minutes later asked if I needed any help. I prefer to be greeted before being reprimanded or let you help me. It keeps the energy of the room positive instead of negative.

It’s unsanitary. There’s drinks on the floor room and food behind the counter of the register. No one was sanitizing their hands before putting the pieces on the floor, or handing them out, etc. I kept seeing one particular employee coughing all throughout the floor room and didn’t once put his hand over his mouth or into his shirt, definitely wasn’t sanitizing either.

I recommend secret shopping to the vendors here to see if you’re pleased with the business’s customer service practices… Let this review cool off for 3-6 months and see how they do when it’s not so new.

I am very sorry that your family did not find the store welcoming.  We are all about creating great customer experiences, I'm sorry we missed the mark on your visit.  I encourage you to try us again in the future and I really hope we can prove we care about all of our customers.



Tried shopping here for Christmas with my family and received nothing but glares from employees. One even glared out the front window at us as we got in our cars and left.

Thank you for your feedback.  I am sorry you had a negative experience with consignment.  We do our very best to explain the contract details with every consignor.  With the amount of inventory we take in every week it would be impossible to contact consignors with the status of their inventory.  We keep many items beyond the 90 day time period and created a "last chance room"  to help sell items at more of a discount before donating items.  We do have to move inventory out of the store to make room for new inventory.   The 90 day sales period goes fast and that is why we ask consignors to call once a month to check on the status of their inventory.  

Dropped off a item awhile back for consignment and found out it never sold, so they donated it. That was awful nice of them to donate my item. Obviously, they need to work on their communication skills! Guess I won't consign a antique desk with them. Can't afford to have that given away, also. Seller beware!

They have a sign in the store stating Veterans discount does not apply to furniture. I was looking for an end table.  When I saw that sign I left.  I am a Vet and I am appalled that they would offer a discount for only certain items in a resale shop. Never going back.

I’ve been to this store several times. Their prices are ridiculous for a second hand store. Also the older lady with a bun follows you like you’re going to steal something, not just once but every time I’ve been there. The last time I was there, I was looking at a piece of furniture that my daughter wanted. A guy comes over and says “we close in 5 minutes.”. Doesn’t ask if I need anything, or if he can help me. Walked out and I’ll never return.

Dear Private Citizen, I am the owner of Couches to Curios.  When I purchased the store from the previous owners, they felt they had finally turned the corner and could use the term "well made furniture and home decor in good to excellent condition". Our team shares this vision because it benefits our consignors and customers.

We approve furniture by photo ahead of time, and have always reserved the right to turn a piece down when we see it in person.  This does not happen often but we cannot always assess quality or condition through a photo.  We cannot take furniture that is dirty, wobbly, stained, severely scratched, smells like cigarettes, mold or animals...and these are things we cannot see in a photo.

Our pricing strategy is simple, we start at about 60% of the retail price and go up or down based on age, condition, and style.  We do research and set prices that are well below the price of a new piece. Our commitment to consignors is to hold firm on the price for 30 days, reduce the price by 15% at 30 days and 25% at 60 days and after 90 days we will negotiate further.

What was initially a great store with friendly and welcoming employees (former owners) and reasonable prices has turned into a place that is money hungry, refuses to deal, and from looking at the prices obviously think they are selling new and not used furniture!   Beware— if what you want to put on consignment doesn’t appeal to them (via email & photos) they won’t accept it.  If they accept it and you drag it all the way there, they may still refuse it!  So done with these people!  Have consigned and bought there since they opened their doors — no longer!  They really do need to understand customers come first!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!  They are expensive and refuse to deal!  I found a nice table and chair set for my parents, who are in a limited budget, and the lady said that she'll take 40% off.  The price she gave me was not 40% off.  Her calculations were way off.  I asked her to call the person to see if they would reduce the price.  She acted like she was going to but after a bit we asked if she had, she did not and refused to call.  This place sells consigned used furniture and refuse to make deals! Bad bad bad!!!!
