This place is awesome. I bought a virtual boy here for a good price. But I found out the left eye was broken. I went to return it and they said they would try and fix it for free and if they could not I would get a full refund. It got fixed and cleaned. Again this store is great. 5 stars. If I could I would give them more stars

My son is not typical and learns differently and can be socially awkward. This store is his "happy place" everyone that works here are so kind and knowledgeable. Years ago he gifted them a drawing of spoder- man and they framed it and hung it in the store. I will always rally and support this store.

I love going to this place whenever I go to the mall. Their pokemon card binders always have good finds and the staff are really nice! I’ve gotten some great deals there as well!

Awesome shop!!! Very reasonably priced retro games, bought 10 Atari 2600 games for a dollar each! There was a good amount of games available, and it seems that stock tends to change each month, so there is always something new to look at. The staff were nice and the store has a great atmosphere!

Extremely helpful. After having issues with Amazon getting an Xbox 360 battery and calling all over town, I was able to find it here in great condition for a good price. Fun place. Thanks guys

We went to the store and we had a wonderful time here. The store is very clean and organized. My while family found thing we liked. We are huge star wars and gamers and they had something for everybody. Gavin was awesome to work with today. Found some awesome figures and tcg cards. We will be coming back!

A great little retro gaming store tucked away in the corner of the mall. The staff was nice and friendly. A good place to find a gift for a friend or for yourself.

Dude at the counter was cool, when he was talking to the couple in front of me in line, clearly he was making great connection and was invested in customer service! I used to come in to the store occasionally for a couple friends, but recently they started getting more dolls, and I am a Monster High collector. I saw that they had a Shadow High doll and I had been thinking about starting to collect some and none of the ones in stores right now seemed as exciting as I would want them to be to start a whole collection. Finally I caved and grabbed the one at Retro Zone (after going in to look at it every couple of days and stew and fight myself over whether to buy it or pass it up, and after passing it every day I left work). He was like, “Hey, how’s it going,” y’know, classic customer service things. To be honest, I don’t remember what he said that made me mention I collect MH, but I did and we said a couple more small-talky things that weren’t horrifically awkward! Huge fan of that part, because I hate not knowing what to say to people when they ask me small-talky things. Anyway, he let me negotiate the price down a little, and it was overall a great time! He was chill and fun to talk to, and there’s usually a great selection of collectibles even if I don’t collect them, haha. I will be coming back to check for more dolls as time passes, so, very excited for that. I hope they end up getting more stuff in that category as that’s my most collected thing, and it’s very hard to find secondhand (even out of box) stuff without going on Depop or Poshmark and paying a 70% price increase (don’t get me started on scalpers when collectors edition stuff comes out) or using the “Filter Search, Hope and Pray, Find a Sought After Item, Realizing It’s Priced at $500, Complain That $500 Is Completely Ridiculous Even For a G1 NIB Operetta, Be Sad That The Only People Selling MH Dolls Are Overpricing Them And Ultimately Not Buy Anything” approach. Great store, great dude at the counter, neat altogether!! :)

This store is one of my favorite spots for vintage collectibles. They have one of the coolest collections I’ve ever seen It has an amazing arcade with any arcade machine or gaming console imaginable. The owner is incredibly friendly and very personable.

The service was excellent! The man who checked us out seemed to be the shop owner, and he took good care of my son and I. Gave us a good deal on some toy lightsabers! We found what we wanted and then some. The prices seem quite fair in comparison to what I’ve seen online. Overall a great experience! I will be returning to buy more action figures.

OMG!!!  I just stepped back in time to my childhood. They have everything that was cool back in the 90s. I actually almost bought the Super Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt Nintendo game. They even have the gun accessory to play the game. I am visiting out of state and had I not needed to keep my return items to a minimum because of Carry On restrictions, I would have totally bought several items. This is a must see place if you were a teenager in the 90s.

Love going into this store!  They always have new Funko Pops for me to add to my collection. The team is awesome with their reasonable pricing and knowledge over the million products in the store.  My go to place to buy/trade/sell my collectables in KC.

This place is awesome. Great customer service and awesome selection of anything you might be looking for. One of the employees gave me an awesome deal on some DBZ VHS tapes. They really do care about the people that walk in the doors.

Easily the most interesting store in the mall, if not the city. Retro Zone is filled wall to wall with things from every generations childhood. I go here anytime I'm looking for something from the 1980s to the 2010s. The staff is always friendly and excited to talk about their merchandise. Not only is this a great store with great prices, but this place basically doubles as a museum. I cannot recommend this store enough.

Along with the store having the best selection on anything vintage/retro collectible, the staff is extremely knowledgeable. When you go to trade stuff in, their offers are the best in town, the quality of customer service is grade A. No, it's fine Japanese Wagyu grade.

The Retro Zone/KingCade store was amazing. The staff was very friendly, and the store was very organized. The young gentleman gave me a great deal on some multiverse and legends figures and was very friendly and knowledgeable of the products. Definitely will be returning to hang out and purchase more figures!

This place is amazing. They always have a big selection of vintage Nintendo and PlayStation games and consoles that are always prices you cannot beat. The employees are cool as well and always willing to make suggestions. I have also traded and sold games and consoles here and they give you really good trade in deals too! Love it here!!

LOVE THIS STORE!!!! It’s a collectors dream, anything you could possibly want…they have it. My husband and I have added so much to our funko pop collections because of this store and the staff here is incredible! If you are looking for a reliable collectibles store, this is it!

We initially wandered in to the store as we walked the mall but stayed for the shopping! I found many things that brought back childhood memories (mainly Star Wars related). My kids enjoyed the store as well as there was plenty to see for many age groups. Time spent looking around I believe can reveal some treasures
The staff was friendly and knowledgeable as one might expect in a store full of retro toys, etc. I discovered a Funko Pop I didn't know existed (Dragon Prince: Rayla) and was able to get it at a pretty good price.

Gavin was seriously the best! I love coming in here because he has such a friendly demeanor and is very knowledgeable about the cards. There are a lot of card shops in the area that will buy your pokemon cards at a terrible price, but Gavin and Retro Zone always have offered me a very fair price for all of mine. I've stumbled on this amazing place about 6 months ago. Retro Zone has some of everything. I visit this place about once per month or every few weeks and always find new things. I've purchased several collectible ninja turtle and power ranger action figures. The owner is super cool and his staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. I really love this place!

I love this shop. The staff is fun and very knowledgeable on all things collectable and retro. There is always something new to check out. Great place to find a unique gift for your collector friends young and old. New stuff, used stuff, all good stuff. They have an actual old school arcade next door loaded with all the great video games of yesteryear. It's like stepping back in time. It's magical.

Went to that store on May, 9th, and it was a great store. I went their specifically looking for Gravity Falls pops and they had Grunkle Stan, which I had been looking for. It was priced at $150 and they gave me a deal of $100 instead. They had another deal anything 100 or over was 10 dollars off so it was really only $90. The people there were very nice and the shop had a lot of pops and other retro toys along with various other items. Definitely recommend a visit!

Every time I visit the Oak Park Mall I always make sure to check in this shop. There always seems to be a hidden, or not so hidden gem somewhere. The staff are some of the nicest people around and are extremely knowledgeable about what they have in stock. Although the shop sells mostly older items the quality is always amazing like they just came off the shelf’s or usually in better shape then that.

Came in by word of mouth a couple days ago and got a great deal on some hard to find Atari 2600 Titles. Came back a couple of days later with a stack of Pokémon cards to sell (left with a different stack of paper), the people there both days were very knowledgeable and extremely thoughtful. I can tell the folks running this place treat their customers as old friends and are ready to make your day! Thanks again :)

Great shop! Went today with two other family members to pick out a few things for my birthday. I was looking for older Superman or Batman comics. The lady on shift was very kind and helpful! She got a lot of older comics from the back for me to look at. I ended up getting 5 Superman comics, a Funko pop, and two other Funko sodas. All were in great condition! Great staff, great products, great experience and I’ll definitely be coming back!

This review is long overdue, I've been coming to this place nearly every week for about a year and a half. Almost every time I come In I not only find things that I want, but also talk with some great people who work there namely Gavin and Kat. Those two always help me and my friends out and the store is made that much better with them there. This place may not have something you were specifically looking for the day you go in but they will stop at nothing to bring in new merchandise and complete sets (charger, controllers, adapters, and more) just so you can relax when it comes to collecting. As for the arcade it is a work in progress but still a fun place to spend a few hours in. I recommend trying a on rails shooter in the back where the guns vibrate so violently you arm feels numb, lots of fun my favorite thing there. Anyway, try this place out the people who work here are great and always wanting to improve the quality of their store and arcade.

I'm visiting a friend and while perusing the INCREDIBLE selection of all things nostalgic, a gentleman offered my friend and I the last $50 on his gift card and helped pick out the coolest TMNT Splinter ever. I am still blown away from the kindness of the patron and the staff's knowledge of all things retro. Truly a one of a kind place that I can't wait to come back! I have been frequenting Retro Zone for a few months now. It's always fun to see their always changing inventory. I can always count on seeing different cool and rare collectible items when visiting the shop. They have the most diverse and quality selection of items I have ever seen in any collector shop including classic movies on VHS, vintage comics, and highly collectible toys.
One of the main reasons this store is worth revisiting time and time again is their excellent employee, Gavin. Gavin has an extensive and impressive knowledge of collectibles that would be hard to best. Aside from always being professional and polite, Gavin is easy to talk to and always has interesting facts about movies or video games to share. If you are looking to buy, sell, or do any kind of business with Retro Zone, make sure to ask for Gavin.

I had a great time! I got several things at great prices that I didn’t have in my figure collection. The owners are very nice and the store is a refreshing addition. With Toys r us gone and only Walmarts/Targets around, having a good old fashion toy store is much needed for collectors in the area.

The toy store went thru a major changes since last year. It no longer has their once vast selection of vintage toys. It's still worth checking out if you're in the area.

Luckily the arcade next door is still fantastic. Owner and employees (except one) are all awesome people.

I came into this store today with some friends trying to trade a pokemon card but the worker that was working there today was very.. unprofessional. He was on his phone the whole time watching something turned the other way not being welcoming or friendly. He didnt respond in good way. Ive been to this store countless times and havent seen any bad workers like this before so i thought that was interesting.

Sorry… I’m sure one of our employees was getting food or using the bathroom… hopefully you have more time and patience for us in the future! 

We are from out of state and this was going to be our second time visiting the store. Unfortunately when we arrived around noon the store was closed. Nobody was inside and there was another person also waiting at the door. It said they opened at 11am. We specifically came to the mall to shop at this store so we walked around and came back and still nobody was here. The first time we came in a year or two ago it was nice and we picked up a few things for our collection. Sadly we were unable to shop on this trip and couldn't come back because we were on a tight schedule. If we do visit Kansas City again we will try and make it back to this store.

We price accordingly and accurately. We start at 25% retail.. Sorry you don’t like the owner of the store, lol. Everyone else seems to love him! Can’t please em all! We hope you find a better toystore! Good luck!

I sold some things, I got lowballed pretty bad. I get it, you guys gotta make profit.
But dont tell a customer “this is a $10 pop” (you only gave me $5 for it) and then not expect them to come back and see you sell it for $60… not cool.
Just felt like a slap in the face.
Not a fan with the guy who always wears the Ray-Ban sunglasses. He kept talking to me like I didnt know what I was doing.
Couldnt tell if he was looking at me or not because of the sunglasses. Just couldnt take him seriously at all.

Selection was poor and prices were at or above local competitors prices. Plus it's in a mall. Suggest Brothers instead. Staff was polite and helpful.

Drove up from Missouri, got there at 520PM.  There was someone inside and said they were closed.  They close at 7PM today.  So why not post it online?  Don't know. Was here once and looking forward to it.  I guess I won't be back.  Post it on Google next time.

i wish a zero star rating was acceptable!! i cannot believe the amount of gas we have had to spend on going back and fourth several times to get to this dumb store! we have tried selling cards to them and every time we have gone they have told us “come back at a different time” yesterday on Saturday we went and they told us to come back because they don’t sell on weekends!! completely fine! we were okay so we came today and as soon as we got there the guy who KNOWS??? how to do cards, LEFT!!! HE LEFT!!! And the person there DID NOT KNOW HOW TO BUY CARDS!!! first time we were here he told us not to go to any other store because this store would be the best to sell from because they would give us a “better deal” than the other stores. i would not recommend going to them for selling cards if you wanna save gas money, and save good cards for a different store who offers better quality people!
