Came to sell some vinyl and had a great time reading and looking at the variety of books, games, clothing and other things they had in the store. Definitely a vibrant place for gift shopping, and the customer service was great!

Lovely and fun medium-sized bookstore with games, records, and toys as well as lots of books for children's, teens, and adults. Excellent collection of graphic novels. Staff is friendly.  Lots of interesting finds throughout each section.

Such a gem to find! Ton of great things here; books, collectibles, records …even comics. Grabbed a Christmas book since I forgot to pack one. The staff were nice, available & helpful. Would definitely visit them again when in town.

The place smells amazing, has a comfy vibe, staff are kind and courteous. I bought IMPERA by Ghost and got an on-the-house sticker, and all I can say is this: I'm begging you, get more of a selection from Ghost. You had the albums, at the time of my visit on 11/16/24, IMPERA, If You Have Ghost, Phantomime, and Ceremony & Devotion. I'd love to see their entire discography there on the shelves, you're only missing Infestissumam, Opus Eponymous, and Prequelle. I'll definitely be coming by more and more when I have the money, as I love vinyl records.

I told y'all I'd leave you a good review. I appreciate the staff even holding my items for me while I had to step out.

(P.S. - If you can get Ghost cassette tapes, please do. I will drop any amount of money for one of each available album, but this is again nust a request.)

I didn't know baton rouge had a location so was very happy to come across it while visiting friends in br. The selection was incredible. I spent over 100 on graphic novels , collectibles  and comics! Stuff is been looking for for forever and it was way cheaper than I'd seen online. I didn't get to check out the whole place but from what I saw it's nice. The Shreveport location seems way bigger but it's better than nothing and from last I  checked there aren't a whole lot of used bookstores in br.

It is a bookstore new and used. They also have music and instruments. It is located where the old Books-A-Millions was on the corner. Nice employees. Kid friendly.

I really love this bookstore.  It was full of things I never thought I'd find. It has a collection of POPs and records, Manga, and fantasy collectibles along with thousands of books on a variety of topics. Lovely place, friendly staff.

One of my new favorite places! My kids love to read and I love collectibles so it's the perfect place to kill time and come back home with some fun stuff!

It's a neat store. Plenty of used books like you'd expect. There is a bagged and boarded comic book section. They organize it by dc, marvel, and indie. They also have movies, vinyl, and cds.

Great bookstore! Lots of new and used titles, tons of manga and graphics, and a whole bunch of fun extra stuff! While it wouldn't be my first stop if I needed a very particular book, it's a great place to browse.

Selection is low due to being a brand new store but it will be better as time goes by.

Nice selection of books with really good prices. Clean and very organized. I really appreciate the overhead genre signs and the shelf signs. There’s definitely something for everyone in this store. And if you are an introvert like me, you’ll be able to shop unbothered by employees and other shoppers. It’s nice to have another local bookstore option.

Plenty of options that are fairly priced. Overall, a great atmosphere and a lovely 2nd hand bookstore to compete with Barnes and Noble.

Kind staff, I did buy a game and they couldn’t find the disk, but were extremely kind and patient, and were kind about giving a refund for the game. Great staff, and good stuff in store.

Love the new 2nd & Charles on Perkins. So many books at a good price. I also like the game board and mystery solving selection! I went to the 2nd & Charles in Shreveport and liked it so I was excited to see the new one in BR. It was nice, clean and organized. We also sold some books there and didn’t get much back but that’s expected. The process was relatively fast though. They have a screen that shows when your order is ready instead of calling your name. Our order had been ready for awhile but we didn’t know because they didn’t explain the screen thing. Will be returning for more book trips.

Awesome place. A lot smaller than the Covington location. Lots of used and new books. Also sells dvd’s, CD’s, and records. A fun place to come on date night!

I absolutely love the vibe there. Everyone is super friendly, and there's so many things to choose from.

Being that, I am so used to books– a -million as well as Barnes & Noble, I was expecting, perhaps a café area and some sort of book finding station (computer). As a result of the prices and the customer service, I anticipate visiting this store more frequently than the previous stores. Second and Charles might be the name of the store, but the Customer Service is second to none. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Good customer service only place that will purchase books but for Pennie’s on the dollar

This is similar to Barns and Nobles.  We were looking for used bookstores, and this popped up on Google as new and used.  If there are used books,  I don't know where they were. I still liked the store but am not fond of paying the full cover price.

I love 2nd and Charles bookstores, but this location does not have any sitting areas. So disappointing. They only have step stools in the stacks. I drove across town to buy books and work on my laptop in the inspiration of the bookstore, but no chairs. So weird. I love too far to not be able to enjoy

I love the store and atmosphere. I'd say the buyback offer was very low though. I brought in 11 board games & 3 Xbox one games. The offer was like $36. Most of their boardgames sell for like $29 a piece, so that was disappointing.

The manager was having a bad day or needs some serious customer service work. He was rude, impatient, and sarcastic with multiple customers. Otherwise, this is a very cool store! I hope that it's a successful business and the manager has better days ahead.

Had a lot of fun shopping at this store and my only beef is the folks at the checkout came across as disinterested and seemingly wanting to be anywhere else. Outside of that I'll be back for more shopping fun just hope it's a different crew at checkout.

Selection was nice, but buyback program is much to be desired. I had several older collectables cluttering my office and was offered $50 cash for what would have sold for $300 on eBay. If you have the time and anything of real value I would suggest selling elsewhere. While I understand that they have a profit to make, this was not worth the offer made. Live and learn.

Great prices, good location, nice staff. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I don't appreciate being asked for my phone number AND email address each time I checkout. Every. Single. Time. No, I'm not giving you either so you can harass me with spam. Not now, not ever. The creepy thing is they don't even explain why they're asking. They just nonchalantly expect you to voluntarily surrender them like that's not a totally inappropriate thing to ask for. What's next, being asked for my home address when I check out at McDonalds? This must stop.

The associates are nice, store is maintained neatly, but the buyback program is criminal.  Don't waste your time or valuable stuff for peanuts.  Sell them online.  Four brand new board games, 4 brand new (and very popular books, one of which is hardback and signed by the celebrity who wrote it), plus about 25 other books, for $20.  Don't do it.

Respectful staff but... I believe they under cut customer who bring in merchandise to sell. Yet mark is greater. Lps, CD over priced.

Service is mediocre to decent, employees seem to vary in a grasp of knowledge of what they actually sell. Very disorganized, I can barely help myself in finding something. I, and my GF have sold to them multiple times a year ago. We never see our items in the store. I personally believe they're putting new items in these "bundle boxes" to avoid dealing with them. Either management needs to step up on training or the piss poor employees need to get axed. Calling them is like flipping a coin for an answer. I don't expect everyone to know everything, but I've called for things in the case that's literally next to the register. The deals are good, but that's a company thing and not a location thing.

Great place to buy books if you ignore the customer service from most of the employees that work there. I would not sell your book here though. My husband and I brought about 14 books there to sell. Most in good condition and some of them a month old and we didn't even get a dollar for each book. We ended up getting $9.00 store credit! That didn't even buy one manga I wanted. I would have felt more satisfied donating them to a local thrift store. But at that point I just wanted to leave. As a store that promotes a lot about buying back books they the need to work on it.

This store is a bit hit or miss in terms of service. The first time I went there, my spouse and I weren't greeted and had to wait a while before anyone acknowledged us at checkout. The second time, we brought in all our old books and the gentleman behind the counter explained the process. The buyback took about 40 minutes... enough time to do some shopping. We left happy that time. The third and last time we went (on a Saturday) the young woman behind the counter shouted as we entered that they weren't taking any buybacks. Then she said she could do 1 bin. We dropped it off and heard her loudly complaining with her co-workers that she didn't want to be working and complaining about her job. I  got a text while we were leaving (5 minutes later) that everything had been processed. She said she couldn't take anything because they weren't doing non-fiction. Considering the closest thing to non-fiction in the bin was Circe, I think she just decided she didn't want to be bothered.

It's a shame because the store itself is well laid out. It's great for browsing, just don't expect to easily check out.

The workers had a displeased look as soon as I walked it to sell books…furthermore they acted as if they didn’t even wanna be at work.. such a cool place to be and they have “McDonald’s” attitudes…The price of books was shockingly low especially since they were in good condition. Only upside was that I found a few rare finds but if they don’t find better workers they’re definitely going lose business because of it.

The 2nd and Charles store in Baton Rouge sells these cute Santa mystery boxes all sealed with books for children for $25. We bought one labeled ages 8-12 for our granddaughter and she opened it as an early  gift. Whoever packed and/or labeled the 8-12 box, had board books for non-readers, and emergent I Can Read books.  Needless to say,  not for ages 8-12. The store associate said he could buy the box back as used for $1.90 even though we had the receipt and returned it the same day. Bag Humbug, 2nd and Charles!

Brought in a $1000+ piece of hardware in multiple heavy boxes to sell. After 30 minutes of testing they quoted me $50. Brother, why don't I just give it to you for free? Maybe the single greatest waste of my time I've ever experienced

Do not try to sell your books here. Honestly the offer they gave for over $575 MSRP (29 books) of brand new and very well taken care of used books is criminal. $16.76 is what they offered for all fairly popular books! Wasn’t even worth my time and gas getting there.

I give them the complete TV series of the old Batman shows and Batman beyond and some more movies and also give them some really nice books and all I got was 4$ and some coins never going back to those crooks again

To put it plainly, they stole books from me. I sold them some books maybe about a month ago and at the time, I couldn’t use my credit as there was somehow 2 accounts with my name. One had a previous $2 something and the new one had the (about) $9 I was supposed to get for the books. The lady said I could only access the old ($2) account that day but next time I come I will be able to use the new account with the $9 and I only had to show my I.D.
Today, I tried to use my credit and showed my I.D only to be told there’s nothing there. When I told her about the 2 accounts last time, the woman checked again but said there was nothing there and didn’t offer any additional help so I didn’t feel like I could press the issue. Honestly, I wish I had my books back and this experience has made me not want to even shop there again.

Total rip off if you are trying to sell items through this store. I understand they have to make money too but it was almost comical. Employees were clueless as to how or why I was given the amount and in the end very rude. I rather shop at Amazon or barnes and nobles than waste my time here.

Cool store with the worst customer service. When they are not completely ignoring you, they seem angry that you’ve interrupted them. Understandable that online sales are putting places like this out of business. Ended up leaving merchandise on the counter & walking out. Unreal.

Dropped books off. Didn’t receive the phone call or text that I was told I would receive when quote was ready. Low balled me. They have a horrible buyback program. You’ll do better selling on Ebay or somewhere else. Customer service can be better too. I’ll continue to shop at Barnes and Noble

Brought some stuff in for sale or trade.  First I waited for over 3 hours.  Finally I asked how much longer and found out it was done, they just didnt bother to tell me.  Then the amount was laughable.
