Truly unique, artful and beautiful collection. The shop has a wide range of antiques from serious to whimsical and it seems Andrew (charming, knowledgeable owner) is constantly updating so it’s good to stop in frequently to check out what’s new.

The shop was thoughtfully laid out with beautiful pieces of quality, but most importantly I had an engaging and educational conversation with Andrew as we discussed the items for sale. A+ for service, presentation, and most of all Andrew taking the time to talk.

Exorbitant prices

Owner Response

Dear Ms. Larson, Thank you for your visit. Ours is a relatively high end antiques shop, where items are carefully vetted and chosen for quality, rarity and condition. Nevertheless, we do try to offer items at a variety of price points, although I am sure we cannot satisfy every budget. Please know that we are always happy to discuss and negotiate prices with our customers.

They're selling a photo of a man in black face. Edit: it's pretty easy to make a snap decision about black face. If preservation of history is the concern, I suggest donating the item to a relevant museum or historical society instead of profiting off it.

Owner Response

Dear Devin, Thanks for your visit. We are sorry you gave us a 1 star review because of the photograph of a minstrel in black face we are offering. In fact, these photographs are very important reflections of changing attitudes about race. They are highly valued by collectors, black and white alike, as well as major museums worldwide. This is not to suggest that the subject and form of representation are not difficult and challenging. We believe that not to preserve it and show it is to deny this history and this important chapter in the history of photography, as well as our culture. We are always happy to discuss any item in our inventory which is selected with great care. It is unfortunate that, apparently, you made, a snap judgement about our shop. We welcome you back any time if you wish to learn more about why this object, or any other, is in our inventory.
