I love shopping at Maxine’s Antiques. The shop owner and her puppy are very friendly. Maxine’s is one of the oldest shops in Historical Ellicott City and carries beautiful one of a kind jewelry, antiques, clothing and accessories. I’ve found so many unique treasures here!

Yes this shop is overpriced (esp if you consider online second hand) HOWEVER it has the best clothing curation out of any shops in the area by FAR. That's what you're paying for. I've had only good experiences with the shop owner, so I was surprised to see the other reviews, however perhaps I was just lucky.

Ellicott City is my favorite place in Maryland, and almost every weekend I go there, as I do antiquing a lot, but "Maxines Antiques" is what I AVOID. Maxines' daughter works there and she is very RACIST & RUDE and if you dont buy anything, she will literally confront you for stepping into that shop. I visited Ellicott City may be 275 times in last 7 years, but after my first visit, I have never again gone to that shop. May be she is suffering from MENOPAUSE, but if you dont buy anything, she will make sure to inflict the same suffering on you, by her RUDE remarks !!!! TAKE MY WORD !!! Response from a VICTIM.

The owner must be some flavor of misandrist and/or misanthrope. Every time I’ve been in, she’s been short with me if she even bothers to say anything at all. Meanwhile the one time I’m in with my wife, she’s circling around her like a vulture, pressing her to try on clothes that wouldn’t fit her. But she got angry and defensive that I dared to tell her I thought the flamingos she had around the store were neat, and heaven forbid, ask her what the story behind them was. Her selection is adequate. Prices I presume are fair, though I haven’t found anything to my tastes that I’ve wanted for the amount listed. But her attitude is just abysmal
