Our rosewood buffet (sideboard) has just been returned. We are very pleased with the work done by Harry C. Johnson & Son. The customer service was excellent and we were sent photos of the work in progress to see what was being done. We have no hesitation in recommending them to refinish your better pieces of furniture. A joy to work with. Absolutely first rate craftsmanship, professionally handled. Took some research to find the best furniture repair and upholstery shop in the DC area, but worth it, even though quite a drive from Annapolis. I give them the highest recommendation possible. They did the leather chair seats in the photos. Showed me a complex pattern cane seat they were about to begin, and some amazing finished pieces. Great people. Needed 6 dining room chairs reupholstered, 2 had pieces of trim missing as well. Of course, there is no one else I would have do the work. As expected, the reupholstering was fantasticly done - see yellow cloth seats in photo. In addition, the replacement trim was perfectly matched - both wood type and finish. As a hobbyist woodworker, I can assure anyone reading that matching wood and finish so well is very difficult. So, once again I say, that I give HC Johnson and So n the highest possible recommendation. If anywhere in the greater Washington DC area, these are the furniture reupholstering and repair people to trust.

We had Johnson restore some family heirloom furniture for us. It was not fine or high-quality furniture, but held a lot of special memories for us. Pat and her team did outstanding work with the restorations, going the extra mile for quality and attention to detail. We especially appreciate that they treated the work with all of the same care as if it were fine furniture pieces.

I am so pleased with the restoration you did on my antique pine and maple side table. What a beautiful finish it has now, and the drawer is much sturdier. I smile every time I see it. I brought in an oyster basket that my great, great, great grandfather had made (he was in the basket business). It had holes in it, and Harry Johnson's craftspeople did an amazing job with the repair. I cannot even tell where it was patched. I had to drive an hour to the shop and an hour back, and I would do it all over again! Thank you for restoring my family heirloom!

Johnson & Son have repaired a number of pieces of furniture over the last several years, most recently recaning a bench whose back suffered a large hole due to grandchildren. They have previously repaired a chair whose bamboo arm was chewed by our son's dog. The new arm and rattan wrapping appeared original. They have reglued any number of our old chairs (neither children nor grandchildren to blame), all of which continue to get regular use and have remained stable for years afterwards. We have never had cause to be disappointed.

I sent them a mahogany knee-hole desk from my grandmother’s house that was in serious disrepair with water and other damage that I thought was unrepairable. I got back a museum piece that will last another century or more. Now this is how to recycle. Great place, these people are artists!

Harry & Son refinished two pieces for us. Their work is impeccable! The highboy that I sent them was in pieces and looks beautiful now! The hall tree is a show piece - thanks to them. I highly recommend their work. They took their time to do it right. These pieces will be loved by our family for another 100 years!

My leather couch seat was color matched and expertly recovered. Excellent communication. Great job.

This furniture repair business did an excellent job refinishing our natural wood dining table top. They made the table surface much better than original by applying a polyurethane coating, as per request.
