Clothes Mentor is a fantastic, organized resale store with great prices on name brand items.   Ladies...don't miss out!

This store is one of my go to places to shop. They have the best deals and the best quality bags, shoes, accessories and clothes. Whatever style your looking for they have it. Their store is always very clean. Their workers are some of the kindest people youll meet, I recommend this store a lot. Everytime I go its a pleasant experience!

Love this store.  Purchased a bag and other items on-line and was super simple to purchase and the quality of the items was amazing!  They were all like new and reasonably priced.  Kate Spade bag was beautiful and I can’t wait to wear the aqua J.Crew skirt this spring! Worth checking out.

Both my 22 year daughter & I found several items that we just love. The store is very clean & organized. Will definitely go back for more shopping.

I have been shopping at this store a long time. It is like a treasure hunt. You always find great items. The Ladies are the Best. Lilly is always very helpful. Holly knows how I love shoes. All the ladies are so friendly and wonderful. You never know what you will find.

My granddaughter wanted to go to a thrifty store so we went online and we found this one and then a friend told us about this one too. They have some really really high-quality nice things somewhat reasonable prices.

Although I was not in the local area, Karen assisted me with my order and was attentive and detailed.  The shipping process was impeccable.  The packaging was secured from every aspect. I great resale shop can be hard to find. Being a woman in my late 20s, I'm looking for quality items from casual to workwear. I stuck to my mission of pants only for my first trip to Clothes Mentor. I was able to find 2 pants, a casual culotte, and  *bonus, a blazer that I couldn't pass up. They have a nice and clean fitting rooms, bags and even designer perfume if that's your thing. I also appreciated the women at the registers upbeat energy. I'll be visiting again.

I have been shopping at Clothes Mentor Novi for about 6 years now. They always have the BEST styles and accessories to fill any need at a GREAT price! I have received many compliments on the items I have purchased from them over the years. The ladies who work there are very kind, professional and always willing to help. Stop what you’re doing and head over to the new and improved Clothes Mentor located in the Novi Town Center where Lane Bryant used to be located. The new store is absolutely beautiful! From a gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling, to beautiful hardwood floors, you truly forget that this is a resale store. The store is very organized and as usual, filled with many designer choices. From handbags, sunglasses, jewelry,  to shoes, and if course clothing, you won’t leave without finding something you can’t live without. The employees are beyond friendly and helpful and the store is clean and incredibly organized.

I was able to get many, many great foundation pieces as well as mix and match tops. I wasn't even sure what exactly I was looking for and they had even more, quality, unique clothes than I hoped.

Even found an awesome black leather tote and an incredible Anushuka handmade, handpainted leather purse.

Love this store! Tons of brand new items at amazing prices. They do a great job of filtering the selection, so we don't have to. With these prices, I feel comfortable donating my well-worn clothes and replacing them with "new" items with a fresh look.

I'm not really sure what some of the other reviewers are saying. Seems some people are just bitter that their stuff was visibly worn or was out of season. I have brought things here and have sold a few and had a few things passed on. I didnt get mad. I love this location, I find myself here once a week, i always leave with something amazing. I have found some killer deals here and more than a few hidden gems. The staff here is very pleasant and welcoming.

This store is so much fun! It has the thrill of hunting for thrift-store-bargain-gold without having to sift through mountains of worn-out vacation destination t-shirts. They purchase new or like new brand name or designer clothing, and I have always found the prices to be very reasonable. The selection recently has not been quite as good as it was in the past, but it could just be my style preference too. I check in here any time I am in the area and I usually find at least one thing each time :)

Great clothes at a very reasonable price. Staff were mostly friendly but overwhelmed. It would be nice if they designated someone to help customers and separate staff for checking in new items. Was able to walk out with a gorgeous dress for $18!

Decided to try this store out! Super cramped and unorganized, the staff is rude and snotty! Bought a couple of items but not overly impressed overall! It was hard to find anything! Seemed dirty too! Never greeted by anyone!

Won't be returning.  I took in over $500 worth of items. There was a centimeter stain on one the items so they wouldn't take it. After dropping the clothes off, I got $35.00....I should have just donated them and that's what I will do next time.

I'm not sure what scale they use. I had more than a dozen items, mostly new and was offered $20.10. I didn't notice until later that she told me she kept ten items for that price when there were at least eleven.  My receipt shows one Torrid top when she actually kept three.  They were all brand new in the plastic.  Could it have been a mistake? I think not. I won't be returning.
You can get decent deals but when you're selling, they sell you short.  I now remember why I deleted the app.

So I turned in more than 100 dollars worth of Coach items, I was paid 108.00 so I go to the atm I have 50, 20, 10,10,5, and 3 singles which equals 98.00 dollars.  I was shorted 10 dollars,  I do not carry cash ever! So no cash in my purse,  wallet no where. Yet they were not short. So I am to believe them yet why don't they believe me. I am so sick of places doing this. I must assume that Chase Bank does not know how to count either, Chase counted 98 also not 109. Never again

Horrible pricing on buying items. Told me my items were old. But one for a wedding that I wore 6 months ago and the other mother of the bride dress that never was worn. Offered me $15 on a $300 jacket.

Not too bad to shop at, but a waste of time to try to sell anything. I was in there a few weeks ago and got a pair of shoes. I was happy, good deal, gently used. Then I went in the next week to try to sell a few things and was told my items were "too young", although I saw very similar things on the racks when I was in there before. So I left, and brought a few other things a few days later. My items were again declined, with a "out of style" reason this time although they had almost the same thing already on the floor, and was the same brand even. Seems their store is too full up and they just have to come up with decline excuses. So I went one more time with an item I was sure they'd take. It was a $50.00 pair of shoes, barely worn at all, well known brand & I was told the most I'd get was $5.00. They had shoes very similar selling for $22.00 - $25.00. Last time for me wasting my time there, I'd rather take them to a consignment.

I should’ve read the reviews before I took my clothes in there to sell.  They wanted to give me four dollars for a brand new Sak handbag that sells for $179.  Also wanted to give me $14 for a coach purse that cost me well over $200.  They didn’t take my Michael Kors shirts, even though I just purchased them last year.  When looking at the store, I saw things in far worse shape, or undesirable compared to the stuff that I had.

Would give it a zero. I was selling 500 bucks worth of items and they gave me 20 bucks like I was a begger. They know nothing about clothing. They passed the valuable items and only chose some shitty ones, avoid it at all cost if you are selling or even buying since it’s a store of garbage.

Don't go here to try to sell your designer clothes. They will give very little for it. You'd be better off just selling on eBay or Facebook marketplace. I looked around while I was waiting but didn't really see anything of interest.

I am absolutely appalled at the offer they gave me for my items. They made me wait over 2 hours just to tell me they wanted to offer me 34$ for my items! BRAND NAME NEVER WORN ITEMS! Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied, will not be returning to this or any other clothes mentor locations ever again.

Went into the store after regularly shopping at Clothes Mentor in Ellenton, FL. I was so disappointed to see that this store did not have the nice quality or selection I expected. Not a friendly environment either. Will not be back.

I came to sell some of my Moms old Handbags and Accessory items to be refused by the store employees. I am of age (18+ to sell items) but they said I needed to bring my mother to confirm the sale of the items I asked what difference it makes and their response was “we need to know she knows they’re being sold”. Doesn’t make any sense!

I sold them 6 ST JOHN blazer jackets and they gave me $50. This was a while ago but I still think about it and regret it to this day. I was desperate and they took full advantage. Don’t expect to get what your clothes are worth.

I will never shop here again.  The manager Karen at  the Novi location was not just rude but actually unkind.  I’m hoping to believe she was having a bad day because the way she was treating myself and other customers was not normal. 2 hour before closing she was already pressuring us to get out of the store and refused to help me when I asked her any questions.  It was a very strange situation because we didn’t have any confrontation.  She just chose to be very mean.  It was honestly just weird . Sometimes you don’t get helpful customer service in retail, but this manager was purposefully trying to be rude to customers.  It was disappointing after to going to Plato’s closet in both Novi and Ann Arbor.  These stores are amazing.  The girls there were so helpful and gently good, kind people.  Not because it was their job and they had to be.  But because they wanted to be and they take pride in their job.  The clothing and the amount of high end clothing far exceeded what Clothing Mentor had.  I am starting to wonder if most of their clothing is all online.  The things they had in their store were not the types of clothing that they said they purchased and sold in their company info section on their website.  Plato’s Closet gave me 150$ for my trade ins and a lot of it I thought I would be donating.  Clothing Mentor didn’t take anything and all of the clothing I had was new and a lot still with tags.  Every item I had was a brand they had listed on their website.  My thought is that they are just not taking any clothing right now do to their inventory.  Don’t waste your time!  The manager is so horrible that she actually hurt my feelings .  I take pride in being good to people and she went out of her way to just be unkind.  I had to remind myself ( and kindly remind her ) that maybe she was just having a bad day and that I understood because I have them too.  I can see this place going out of business soon.  PLAT0’s CLOSET has a much better business model from what I can grasp as a customer.  They have remodeled and expanded some of their locations even recently.  Their clothes are all current and the organization is impeccable. I would def make the drive to the Ann Arbor store even if it’s a little hike.  They have great product.  I’m guessing a lot of the students take their clothing there.  It is a more upscale area and they do stick to their brand list.  I just read the review below me Return policy and I just wanted to let everyone know that they do not accept any returns.  Plato’s closer allows returns for a full refund for seven days.  I want to add on that. I just received a call from The general manager, Tony, who was Amazing. She was so thoughtful and so apologetic and does not Tolerate that kind of behavior from any of her team members.  She was not at the store the day of the occurrence.  Based on our phone call And how wonderful she was I will definitely Be giving the store another shot! Thank you, Tony.  If anyone shops at the store, definitely ask for her and thank her for her wonderful customer service!

I would not recommend trying to sell here I brought in some stuff watched the lady look at maybe pull 3 things out if the bag and say they are good on everything about 1 minute after I handed them the bag  if you do try, bring no more than like 3 items in basically new with tag condition or they will pass not to mention if you’re smaller than a size large it’s unlikely u will find anything in this store to buy  really only the shoes and purses are decent but extremely over priced

Extremely rude and unprofessional group of women. They act like their used garbage is worth more than treating a person respectfully. Now I know why there were no customers in the store.

Careful buying items online and picking up in store. Although their website says that you get the same return policy as shopping in store, this is not correct. I asked to see the item before walking out the door but was told that it was a final sale and couldn’t be returned if I didn’t want it. I was told this was the corporate rule.

But here is what they list under each item online:
“Online orders placed for shipping are final sale. Online orders which are picked up in-store will follow the store return policy of the specific location the order/pickup takes place. Please contact the store directly for questions on their return policy. Should you find any issues with your online order, we would like to know about it and ask that you please contact the store.”

I recommend just buying in person if you can!

Went today with some shoes and torrid clothing. They unlocked the door and walked away, didn’t open or say anything to those of us standing outside. Staff was rude and for lack of a better term snotty. They kept two items and offered $2. The person I was with brought three bags, some items still containing tags and she left with three bags. The one item from her was offered $.90. What a joke. I’ll find a shelter or something that can use them before I go back to this joke of a store. I tried once before. Walked in right after they opened but told me it could be the end of the day before they would contact me. They had a bus coming in that day. Now if you don’t take appointments why is my stuff delayed for an “appointment”? And if I didn’t come back before closing my clothes would be donated. I don’t recommend this place at all. I wasted gas to be insulted.

Had a very negative experience with them years ago. Thought about going back but reading the other reviews I’m sure they haven’t changed a bit. When MK bags were still very trendy I took 3 of my bags there. Mind you these were the nice ones with the lettering that everyone sought after. They tried to tell me they could not verify they were real. Hmmm even though every one has the inside label that really can’t be duplicated  and I even had a receipt for ones. One she said I’m not even sure why we couldn’t take this one. Smh. You also can search the tag where they have the barcode and numbers to verify it’s real. They literally said they couldn’t even accept 1 bag.

My first time here but wasn't happy with them. Gave me $7.50 for 3 items never worn and had tags with prices. Will never go back. Should have gone to clothes consignment in Northville

Don’t waste your time. I walked in with two full baskets of clothing that were barely worn, in season and in style. After 2+ hours of waiting for them to look at my items, I came back to an offer of $4 for two shirts. They told me the items were “old and worn”. A good portion of them were either new or worn maybe 1-3 times. Anyways, I just wanted to write this so other people dont waste their Saturday on this place like I did. Just donate your stuff - this place is not good.

I went to Plato’s closet first Friday morning they couldn’t accept the clothing and ties I brought it, they informed me to go to clothes mentor. The lady Friday morning that checked me in was very sweet, I forgot her name she had darker hair and glasses. When I came back later in the evening I delt with a rude employee who was trying to talk to me like I should know the stores policy.  When I came to pick up my order it was a “pass” I asked why and she stated we don’t carry mens clothing, I go well if I would of known I wouldn’t of wasted my time , she has the nerve to say “you should of asked” or checked the website” who says that to someone? Be nice or say it in another way. The lack of customer service and her RUDE attitude, I will never come back again.

Do not sell your clothes to this store. They grossly underestimate your clothing. They tried to pay me $5 for an item valued at $125 which isn’t 1/3rd of retail price then 30-40% what they pay you. And an associate lied and said if I didn’t pick up my clothes by 6:30pm they will donate all my clothes and not pay me out even though the store closes at 8pm, when I called them the lady lied and said they don’t accept clothes after 6:30pm. Not sure why they would make things up, I can’t wait to see how much they mark up my items for a profit.

If you are trying to sell items do NOT go here. It is a waste of your time. I took some Frye Melissa boots that were regularly $328.00 and some cow girl boots that were maybe worn once. You have to leave your items and they tell you it will take an hour. By the time I got home 10 minutes later they were texting me to say that my items were ready. They won’t tell you over the phone how much they will purchase items for. So I go back and they said they would pay me $18.00 for both pair. I can no longer fit the shoes but I would rather they collect dust than to be insulted. I’m not sure if they are used to people who are very desperate but I can assure you I will not be back to sell or purchase.

I brought 2 huge bags of outfits and from normal brands such as H&M & American Eagles some with tags on them, & I've been told they just accept items not older than 2 years and only for this current season. Yes they were mix of warm & cold seasons outfits both, but not older than 1 year. And the team could be a little more friendly in their attitude. At the end we and you all are helping to find a solution to reuse/exchange some of our items. It's not a serious big matter to be grumpy.

Never again- do not waste your time. All the poor reviews you read here are accurate. I feel like they didn’t bother to look at what I brought in. I was told it would take about an hour to go through my items & they would text me when they were finished. I received a text barely a half hour later. No way they took a good look at these items. Many well known brands & names with tags still on were passed over with an excuse about the style. These items were very up to date & in style. They offer next to nothing for what they buy. I drove right over to Goodwill to donate where I’m sure someone will be very happy to find these items.

Don’t go here to consign/donate! They told us they don’t take anything less than 2 years old....lies. They took 2 jackets that were AT LEAST 4 years old and everything else that we had that was less than 2 years old, name-brand, and in excellent shape they passed on and then offered hardly any money. Don’t waste your time. You’d be better off donating to Goodwill and taking a write-off on your taxes!

Based on service alone, I will NOT be returning here. Went in for the first time, wasn't greeted, was the only person in the store for quite some time and didn't even get so much as a hello. Snotty staff, who were on their personal phones too busy to even offer a friendly smile. I think maybe they need to have a store wide viewing of that iconic shopping scene in "Pretty Woman". Awful.

I agree with others who experienced the staff who clearly must have instructions not to purchase items on certain days or maybe they have a purchasing budget. I brought in several designer suits and dresses I bought in New York. They had been dry cleaned and in the bags. A pair of Coach pumps worn less than 5 times in the original box. They didn't purchase anything stating something about style. Some of what they have on the racks looks like something from my 85-year old mother in law's closet.
