Do you love to look thru random things, and wonder if you could Reuse things for other purposes? Do you love a deal? Man! This place is for you! Come here and try to park on the decline angled section near the loading dock, so you don't have to pay to park! Check out my photos, I was there just a few days ago. Books are $0.10/lb and I actually found White Barn candle, used, but for like $2.00 with a discount, I bought kids books & that candle for a total of about $2.57!! Awesome! They do sell other wacky stuff like a diving board! Medical devices, U of M furniture, dentist chairs, massage tables, Gigantic desks, and other weird stuff!

Interesting experience, great deals if you need what they happen to have on hand. Interesting finds.

The female cashier is awesome! She's funny yet courteous. She brightens up the place.

This is one of the places for me -and probably everyone has a few on their own list- that made me feel hurt and almost shameful because the moment I walked into the University of Minnesota ReUse Program for the first time I realized how much time I had lost not knowing about its existence sooner.

Working with my hands is my passion and the process of discovery is what drives me. My visits to this place are deeply spiritual.

It might be a hodge podge of things, but you could literally find anything in that store if you came at the right time.

Amazing variety of cast-offs from the university. I would rather not recommend it to others so it's not as popular, but hey, why not go get lost in imaging the potential of having your own centrifuge or stereoscope.

Great place to find unique and everyday items for cheap.  They usually have tons of office/desk supplies for free or darn close to it.  Good deals on electronics also.  Tons of books and random things that just make you wonder why the U of M had them? or why are they even here?  Staff is nice and helpful.  Lighting is very dim so you may need a moment when entering to adjust and some people use their phone flashlights.

This place is HUGE!! Not to mention it's a great place to find some unique items at way discounted prices.

Do you like strolling through warehouses full of goods? Well, come no further! Great prices, random selection. I got a 2020 GRE prep book for like $2, an old IBM hat, a map to throw on the wall -- not to mention just the random odds and ends for electronics that exists here.

Great place to find used university goods, from microscopes to furnitures, clothes, lamps and chemical photo developing supplies and everything in between. For the deal-hunters out there, it's totally worth a visit.

Items here range from books and cleaning supplies to  furniture and abandoned lab equipment. You may find valuable antiques if you look carefully.

Thanks Pete! The bike are for sale at our annual bike sale events.  The next one will be in the spring.  Exact date still undetermined. We partner with local bike shops to have them repaired over the winter.  We currently partner with Mr. Micheal Recycles Bicycles and Full Cycle. This is great for the bike shops who see less business in the colder months and both of these shops have great social missions helping disadvantaged people. Bike prices start around $50 and go up from there depending on brand, quality etc.

I absolutely loved getting to finally explore this place for my first time! Such a wide array of items, gadgets and furniture and accessories and books galore! Very friendly and professional staff, too. Surprisingly well organized given the immense quantity of items they’ve accumulated. I found some brand new Mother’s Day, Easter & thank-you card which were a great find. I also found some small boxes of personal hygiene items including one mini bottle of hand sanitizer which was a shocker to find unclaimed given the times we are in. I didn’t see any prices for the bicycles though and was curious how buying/selling those work if they are for sale, or if they can be picked for parts, etc. I know there are some nonprofits who may be highly interested in the bicycles and/or their parts for use in helping disadvantaged people have access to a bike. Bottom line though, I’d highly recommend giving this place a look-through! They said the selection changes regularly too!

Literally the best store in the country, maybe the world. Their selection is entirely unrivaled. They have one of absolutely everything for sale on the cheap. It’s good for the environment. The folks who work there are some of the best humans. Abundant parking. Fantastic selection of computers saved from the e-waste stream. 7/5 starts.

I needed a couple stethoscopes to help dissect my old tabby cat that I picked up at a trash bin outside of KFC, and the options available here are excellent. Mr Snumpkins took a tumble off my balcony and did not stick the landing. Even so, I was abale to harvest his clavicle to fashion a homeade door handle for my son Benny. Everything worked out just fine. Life is good! Cheers! 🍻

If you have ever been to an Axe Man and enjoyed  their cornucopia of whosits,whatsits gizmos, thingamabobs , and thingamajigs then the chances are the ReUse center will have the same kind of appeal.

Thanks Troy, just a clarification on the meters.  We do have free parking available on public sale days only in the loading dock area.  If you happen to park at one of the meters instead, you do have to feed the meter!  Parking and Transportation can and will tag people if they are at an expired meter.  But Troy is correct about being able to park in the loading dock area on public sale days.  Thanks - Todd

This is the used/surplus store that you have been looking for. The prices are fair and are discounted over time based upon how long something has been there. The color of the tag aligns with the amount of discount. You do not need to use the meters, it is permitted to park for free on the loading dock on public sale days.

As a former UMN student, I love seeing old stuff that my tuition brought, reused instead of sent to a landfill.

great place to find any kind of furniture or equipment you'd find in university classrooms or offices. I've purchase chairmats and white boards in great condition at 20% or less of retail.

Great for desks, chairs and office supplies. Also great for  oddball stuff too. Need a 1980's answering machine or chemistry beakers for a play? Try here!  Outfitted my basement w/ game table and chairs for $20.

Lots of cool random stuff for cheap. Great for scientific glassware and equipment as well as furniture and much much more.

If you always wished you had a mad scientist in the family so you could visit their lab and gawk at it, well this is a good substitute. I love this place. You never know what you will find here. I have purchased many treasures here as well as office furniture and other materials that I would never find anywhere else.
Stop in just for the fun of it and see if it sparks the mad scientist in you.

The reuse center, open to the public all day long on Thursdays each week, is something between a thrift store and a surplus store akin to "Ax-Man". The contents are impossible to describe but vary between office, labratory, garage, and machine shop. You can walk out with a great old fashioned wooden or metal desk, a chair, and a tray of microscope slides.

It's basically the greatest thrift shop ever if you're into old tech and lab supplies. Lots of interesting stuff to look at.

I love this place! Always treasurer's to be found! Legless table? Check! Vintage drafting chair? Check! Medical light box? Check! 1990s era computer? I'll pass on that one...

Such a cool place to wander through and find some “treasures.” The staff was great and very helpful.

There is so much stuff and looks like more is added frequently so worth the trip. It’s fairly well organized for how much stuff there is!

You have to pay for parking at a meter which is a bummer, but probably the norm since it is on campus.

Amazing deals on everything from expensive lab equipment to old chairs. Prices have become a bit higher on lab and computer items but are still lower than most places.

It's all surplus, you never know what you'll find. This visit, the shelves were kind of bare.  Mostly furniture, larger pieces of equipment

If a random alien hobo was given access to the dumpsters and told to pile some of it in a warehouse for the university we could replicate the reuse program.
Random short pieces of hose, broken particle board shelves, dirty plastic bottles with no top, 3.5" floppy drives, bent and stained umbrellas, and some actually reusable furniture.....

We have a couple metered spots and offer free parking in our loading dock area on public sale days and have enough parking for about 30 vehicles.  We hope you try us again sometime.

I'm sure it's a great program but there is nowhere to park so we didn't even go in.

We are not the outlet for University IT equipment.  The U of MN has a contract with a third party vendor that handles E-waste, computers included.  We do receive a few computers from time to time, but very few of them and we remove all hard drives before offering them for sale.
