Excellent resale shop. Nice layout and good selection of dishes, quality clothing. We found some Steve Keene street art work but now they are all gone!

An excellent thrift store. Clean and very well organized. A wide selection of household goods, furniture, books, kitchen utensils and clothing. And for a special treat, eat at the Dandelion sandwich shop next door  !!

It is convenient, well tended, well staffed. They strive to put nice goods on display at very low prices and their selection is terrific. This store is about the only thrift store that has kept their prices and goods at a reasonable rate. I recommend this store above all.

I went here to get some swimming trunks. They have a deal where clothes are $2 except for special finds/or boutique. The sales lady went above and beyond to help me, I ended up buying 2 swim trunks for less than the price of 1 at Walmart, and it feels great knowing my money is going to help those victims of domestic abuse. I will definitely be coming back again!

My boyfriend and I discovered this place a couple weeks ago and we love this little thrift store! It's very nice and well kept (not to mention full of great stuff!). Everyone who works there is super sweet too. Definitely worth a stop by. 😊

Love the store, but every time I have went to shop there in the past few months, the "CLOSED" sign is on the door. Not sure whats going on. I know they have lost a lot of business because of it.

While it is a clean place, and most of the time they have decent prices, they closed their dressing rooms and do not give refunds. I was told.../just hold it up in front of the mirror'. And it was implied that "some people wear skinny pants and slip on clothes over them". I get it. But everyone shouldnt be punished for the sins of a few. I won't buy clothes I can't try on or return.  There wasn't much after that. It supports a great cause. Thats about it.

I hate to post anything negative about this place because they mean well and provide a needed service to people who have nowhere else to turn but people still need to be warned about their bed bug problem. I went to their shelter in January 2018 because my ex was stalking me. My first night there, within an hour of falling asleep, I was covered in bed bug bites. I had so many bites that they woke me up and I ran to the bathroom. I'm highly allergic to bug bites and I had an immediate reaction. I had bites all over my neck, shoulder, and arm. It was horrible. I immediately got the staff. The other women in the room said they had been getting bit and had reported it to the staff but nothing had been done. I hadn't slept in days from being terrified every night, and I was exhausted, but I immediately packed my bags and left, driving back to Asheville at 11 pm. I slept in my car behind a church that night. I emailed the shelter the next day with pictures of all the bites but no one ever replied. To this day, I've never heard back from them or been contacted.

Unfortunately, I had some books on the bed with me that night and brought the bed bugs home with me. My apartment has to be heat-treated to get rid of them, which is very expensive (from $600 to $1500). Thankfully my apartment complex is paying for the treatment but other people may not be so lucky. In addition, I have numerous permanent scars from the bites, including ones on my face, and no one deserves that. I'm very thankful I don't have kids that would have been affected also.

If someone had cared enough to contact me to let me know that they were going to address the problem, I wouldn't be leaving this review but no one has. When your scared for your life, you don't need the trauma of bed bugs on top of everything else you're going through. If you need to go here, don't put anything on the bed or near the bed until you know if there are bed bugs in the room. Inspect the mattress for signs of bed bugs (you can google the signs). Ask the women in the room if they've been getting bit. And if you want to be extra careful, put alcohol on your face and neck before you go to bed. That will discourage any bed bugs from biting your face or neck, preventing any scarring.

We are sorry that you were not allowed to inspect the item.  That is not our policy.  We prefer that items to be inspected before someone purchases.  I have let the store staff aware of the situation and we will be be sure that all staff and volunteers are aware.

Wouldn't let me open a box that had been half caringl taped shut. If an item is used, and you won't accept a return, you have to let people see what they are buying...

On Saturday I helped my Brother pack up his late wife's clothes and he knew she wanted them donate to Safelight to help those in need.  I called on Friday as I live in SC to make sure we could donate on Saturday what the hours were.  Nothing else was said to me other then yes, they were open and donation drop off was 10 to 3 and you ring the bell and they would help and we could get a receipt.  We got there around 12 and we had two vehicles of items for them.  First thing is they said nobody heard the bell and I rang it twice.  The other is that the lady working was not helpful or nice and stated they were only taking Spring seasonal items.  Well I had a lot of both and if I had been told that I would have separated it all.  The other thing is we took maybe two boxes and a bag in and she shut the door on us with not even saying anything to us.  I understand that they didn't have the storage space for off seasoned items however, I think when someone calls asking about donation they should be told what they were taking in.  My sister-in-law would have been very mad if she knew about this.  Thankfully we were able to donate to my nieces school and they were not picky about what we dropped off.   There was one nice volunteer that was not working that day but was leaving when we pulled up.  She drove around and park and went in to tell them we were there.  She did state that there was only two works and one had gone to lunch.  Thank you to the volunteer that was not even there to work for helping us. Again I get it and we were willing to help anyway we could.  Please be more specific when someone calls again about donations and maybe write it on the chalk board you have outside so people are aware of what you are accepting.

The shelter isn't a safe haven. It's a drug house and the woman are bullied.  Treated here like prisoners and bullied by staff and other house mates. Woman trying to do good for themselves and get on there feet are treated worse  than the situations we came from or left. I work three jobs and go to school, but I get up out on the streets with now where togo. The drug dealers and bullies can do what they do and lay around all day. They get to stay. Don't ever send anyone to the place.

Safelight in Asheville, North Carolina is one of the worst shelters your ever gonna come across. The staff there do not respect your privacy they walk in and out of your room at any time and take stuff. I'm pregnant and cramping and they made me climb the stairs when they have an elevator. Before the lady did intake for me she said I seem a bit off like I've been drinking and I'm like I'm cramping and coming from an abusive situation so yeah I may seem a a bit off plus I had been up since 4am that morning getting yelled at by my husband. So yeah a bit off but I barely drink when I'm not pregnant let alone when I am I was just cramping really bad from arguing with my husband. Plus the fact they don't have anything but can goods and dry pasta for you to eat. You have to get your own food and drink. They offer bus passes but I could barely walk with the way I was hurting/ cramping while being there. I only stayed one night. They have to be stealing government funds and donations and pocketing them

They do not help you or do what the rule says will put you out on the street baby and  All. The thrift store is amazing and so are the woman who run it.i just wish the shelter was better run
