Nice little place that I only just came across a few months ago. Their prices aren’t bad compared to some of these other bigger TCG markets, especially for a local shop!

Love coming here. I'm not a gamer but a mother of one and I find all the good cards and items my son needs/wants. They always have what the other stores in town don't. Lots of people gather to play magic and other games. Definitely worth checking out if you're a gamer.

My fiancée and I come here every year and we prefer this place the best! Staff are always welcoming when we arrive and very attentive - also enjoy the vibe overall! (With the added bonus of finding cards here we couldn’t elsewhere as well as other booster sets that aren’t as prevalent in the main TCG scene - Shadowverse etc.)

Well organized and friendly store!  Came in for a miniatures event, and had a great time.  Now I visit periodically for paints and supplies.  Would definitely recommend!

CFC has managed to create an atmosphere that is focused on the community first and you feel that from the moment you step foot in the door. That’s carried through especially over into the many events that are offered!

As for the store itself, the layout is fantastic and everything is easy to find. Staff is courteous, helpful and knowledgeable - especially if you’re looking to know more about a specific product or game!

CFC has done so much incredible work for the gaming community in Wilmington. They have handily accomplished the lofty goal of building a community hub for gamers of all kinds, that caters equally to all of them. The staff (across the board) are the best of any game store that I have ever stepped foot in. CFC offers lots of space to play card games, board games and tabletop games. It's an excellent venue for both pick up games and tournament play. They have cultivated a lively community that has been so rewarding to be a part of.

In short, if you're considering visiting Cape Fear Collectibles, whether it's to shop or to play, please don't hesitate to do so. If you spend enough time there, you'll likely make some new friends, participate in some awesome games and make some great memories. I know I have!

This store is amazing for nearly every gaming hobby! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and they’ll always work with you to get exactly what you need to complete your army, your deck, or your “nerd shelf” at home! Great staff who are dedicated to the hobby, two good sized rooms for gaming, lots of tournament terrain and mats, friendly player base for many card and tabletop war games.  Also good 3D printing service.

Excellent customer service! Even when I messed up and used the wrong address, they were still able to help me and resolve the issue. Then there is the game space which is inviting and open allowing players to reserve space come in and enjoy themselves in a friendly environment. I would recommend CFC to anyone as they are a great place to play and shop and if Sam doesn't have it, he will look into it and get it if possible.

For what it is, a pretty great place! They've started carrying Gundam model kits and they've got a lot of variety, even if it is mostly High Grade kits. There's some Real Grades and a Master Grade every so often, which is pretty cool.

Highly recommend for the card gamer in your life! Intelligent and welcoming staff who just wanted to help out and share their passion for gaming! Loved that the MTG cards were cataloged online so we didn't have to sift through binders or cluttered display cases! We will for sure be going back!

Cape Fear Collectibles is an incredible gaming store! The play area is huge and one of the most well equipped gaming stores I have been to. They have plenty of tables and space for TCG games as well as great mobile tables for war gaming along with all the appropriate terrain and game mats. The staff and owner are the best part about this store. Not only are they extremely kind and helpful they are also knowledgeable and love to play as well. It’s a store built by gamers for gamers and it’s apparent from the moment you walk in. Every event I have attended here has gone smooth and has been incredible amounts of fun. If you are new to the area and looking for an awesome gaming community I highly recommend stopping by and giving CFC a visit!

First of all, my geek heart absolutely loves the entire aesthetic of this store, including the gender neutral bathrooms and their amazing signs. The employees are super friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. The areas for table top gaming and miniatures are nicely laid out and decorated and a gamer's dream. Overall, this is one of the coolest places in Wilmington!

Friendly laid-back yet professional staff who have a combined knowledge base exceeding that of Dr. Strange, Gandalf the White, the wisest Copper or Green Elder Dragon, Pinky from "Pinky and the Brain," and possibly close to "The One Above All."

It's always a good day to talk with people who are as passionate about the same things you are; it's even better when they also love what they're doing because it involves those things!

The store is clean; they have two sweet arcade machines with about 4k old school games!

They have over a dozen tables dedicated to tabletop games like Magic the Gathering, D&D, and any other festive time with pen and paper a person or group of people would want to play.

They also have an impressive collection of collectibles throughout the store; it is highly recommended to check it out if you're near the area. If not for anything else but what they do on Magic the Gathering release dates! It's a must-see in person.

The building used to be a dance studio, so there is massive amounts of play space. There is an arcade under construction, vending machines,  and a diverse selection of games / Supplies.

Im only in Wilmington occasionally, but this is the best Minipainting supply store I've found here.

PS: Whatever the air conditioning is set on is perfect.

Friendly local game shop.  Good selection of various collectible card games, miniatures, dice, and assorted accessories for gaming.  Their play areas are huge!  Seriously, this place is a TARDIS - it's bigger on the inside!  They are just starting out and have the potential to be a great location catering to the various gaming communities.  Parking can be tight, so come with a friend.

Sam and Joey have done an amazing job supporting the communities that have been awaiting a place to come together and enjoy their hobbies.  There is plenty of space available to play and the staff has created a welcoming environment for all. A small collectible shop.  They had a lot of harder to find MTG decks, Warhammer books, and all kind of models and figures.  The prices were comparable to slightly above the market value for everything we looked at.

I'm sorry that you weren't able to get what you wanted for your sisters birthday.  I understand how it is being on a budget as I grew up when Pokemon first came out but my family couldn't afford to buy any of it.  I joined the Marine Corps out of school as my family couldn't afford to help pay for school.  

That all being said most people don't know or understand the back end of the Local Game Store business.  First off, MSRP stands for Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price.  We do not follow that as 90% of the time, the market price for a product is lower than MSRP and to compete with Amazon and other bigger stores we can't sell at MSRP.  

When Pokemon was not as popular, people would come in and would be upset like you are now, if we DID charge MSRP, as the packs and or booster boxes would be significantly under MSRP.  Nobody was asking for us to sell at MSRP last year when we were selling booster boxes for $110 when the MSRP was $160.  

Your local card shop that sells at MSRP all the time, enjoys making a nice profit when market prices are well below MSRP which is most of the time when you look at the timeline for Pokemon.  So its not really a virtuous thing to always sell at MSRP, and not entirely evil capitalist if you sell at market prices.  We do not make a great profit when the market is low, but when it increase we are able to make up for the years when it is low, which allows us to stay open and provide a community and place for people that actually want to play the game.  And speaking of that we sell Pokemon to our local community of players for whatever is cheapest, as we are a local game store, and our priority is to the people that actually play the game.  So we charged MSRP for our local players at $160, instead of $240.

The other thing people don't understand is that at times like this, distributors that we buy from also will charge us more when the supply dries up.  

Example - MSRP on a booster bundle of 151 booster bundles was $25.  We are/were selling them for $75 recently.  This is because our distributor charged us $60 per.  We normally would pay $10 and sell for whatever the market is.  As you can see just because we are selling for well over MSRP, doesn't mean we are making money hand over fist.

And to be frank if we sold at MSRP, you wouldn't have been able to buy your sister any packs, because they would be all gone within a day or two of the release, just like you couldn't find them anywhere else.

Also the term "shrinkflation" doesn't have anything to do with the retail tcg business.  The basic idea of shrinkflation is increasing the price of a product, the company reduces the amount or size of the product in the package while keeping the price the same. This can be subtle, like shrinking a package on all dimensions to maintain the appearance of the same size, or more obvious, like fitting a jar with a concave bottom to hold less. 

This has more to do with say a bag of chips.  What you were probably trying to articulate is an issue with supply and demand.  Pokemon supply is low, and demand is high, which leads to higher prices.  

Anyways hopefully this helped you understand a bit of the underpinnings of how the retail side of things work at a local game store.

And I'm sure your sister will appreciate your gift.  It's a cliche but it is the thought that counts.  I would hope she would still appreciate the fact that you searched everywhere to find some Pokemon packs for her birthday instead of just giving up.  

The guy was nice. I was looking for just 5 booster packs of the new Pokémon Journey Together packs for my little sister for her birthday.  5 pokémon packs is what I get for her every year. Everywhere is sold out: GameStop, Walmart, Target, etc. I got recommended to come here. I asked for 5 packs and it was $15 more than I was expecting.

I am in college and can't afford a lot currently, because the school eats almost every dollar I earn and I just moved out for the first time a few months ago... Usually the booster packs are $4.99 MSRP but they charge $8/pack here. So instead of getting 5 I was only able to get 3  and had to put back the other 2 sadly because it was all I could afford. I did buy some sleeves for $5 just in case she got any really good pulls, but I was able to do that, because it was in the preplanned budget as well to buy sleeves.

I appreciate the kindness of the shop and the availability of the pokémon cards I just do wish they had been proper retail price. The card shop in my hometown always does MSRP as well. It is a nice ambient shop. I will only be buying here in emergencies, like my little sister's birthday. I would rather pay the real price not the shrinkflation one.

I just hope my lil sis won't be disappointed I was only able to get her 3 this year. I am trying not to cry thinking I let her down this year...😔

Hey Kimberly!  Sorry you felt this way, but yes we have a local community that we consider friends and talk to when they come in the store.  That's one of the reasons people like coming here.  If you needed help with anything, you most certainly could have approached someone and asked?

Most of our reviews mention how helpful and welcoming our staff is, with no mention of "non-bro" whatever that means.  None of our employees are current members of a frat.  We're all nerds at heart here and love talking about our hobbies to anyone regardless of anything else.  



Staff completely uninterested in helping us the day we visited while on vacation - too busy chilling with friends to actually work or help. Very "bro" vibe the day we were there - did not feel welcoming (as a non-bro) or like they were even vaguely interested in us being there. Much better stores to choose from in Wilmington.

Hey Nix!  Sorry you felt like you were ignored, I talked to that employee and they don’t remember seeing anyone.  Sometimes when it gets dark out it’s hard to see outside with the glare from the lights.  

You definitely could have called or knocked on the door and they would have let you in.  Sometimes on Sunday if it’s been dead for the last hour we start closing up early.  

Definitely wish you would have reached out before leaving a 1 star review as we pride ourselves on customer service and would have offered some 3D prints of your choice for free to make up for it 



Kind of disappointed— came to the store at 7:30, hours online and at the store say 8.. doors locked. Employee came out of the back— looked dead at me and ignored me.

I really wanted to buy more 3D prints to paint etc but this is extremely unprofessional to just ignore a customer even if you had to close early.

So for everyone that likes to read the 1-star reviews let me inform you on what has transpired.

We value transparency so I'm going to try and clear some things up.  First off we almost never sell anything at MSRP, but go off TCG low or other online marketplaces for pricing.  This is because most everything sells for below MSRP and some items we can't sell at TCG low as we'd actually be losing money.  When OP5 ( New Awakening) released it was around $170 - $180 a box online.  We recognized that was a pretty steep price. 
 We also wanted to help out our locals so we decided to do the deal that we did ($100 for the first box then 13% off tcg low).

Selling boxes at the deal we did cost us roughly $4,300 in lost revenue by not just selling only online at TCG low.  That was not a good business decision, but we wanted to help out our locals at least get a good deal.  

A few players were complaining about that, even though I specifically talked to one of them, told them that was the deal I was going to do, and they agreed that was cool.  Then come to find out they were complaining about it behind my back, even though to my face they said it was good.

They also asked the store to start hosting events on Saturdays, which we took the time to do, but then because a few players were mad that we just didn't sell all the boxes for $100 (even though no LGS in the entire world would have done that, losing tens of thousands of dollars in the process) they got everyone to stop coming.  

Another example of certain players attitudes - A player pre ordered one of our hats but then in front of one of my staff said they weren't going to get it because they don't want to support the store anymore.  When I asked if they were going to pick the hat up they said, " I can't now I need to wait for my paycheck to come in"  They of course did not pick up the hat but chose to lie to my face instead.  That's fine if you don't want to support the store, but lying to my face just shows the type of person they are.

This next particular incident that I'm assuming this person is talking about is the Start Deck tournament we ran.  We received 5 kits for this event.  There were 5 WINNER promos.  We only were supposed to give out 1, but we gave out 2, one to first and one to second.  Everyone was supposed to get a pack of 8 promo cards.  There were 18 players total, so clearly we would not have been able to give one complete pack to everyone.  We made sure that everyone at least got one promo card.  Bandai shorted every store in North America, but apparently they will be sending more packs out, which we will distribute to players.

We listed the excess winner cards on TCG Player, because thats what we normally do, but these were event kit promos, and we are only allowed to sell regular store tournament promos because we actually pay for those out of pocket.  The event kits we do not pay for and that is why they can't be sold.  We also were not supposed to give out extra winner cards, but nobody obviously complained about that.  

The reason this person is having a temper tantrum is because the following Sunday we just raffled off the extra promos  to the people that showed up.  Most of the community decided to boycot the store so there were only 5 people that showed up to the event(3 players were CFC staff that play regular and 2 non staff players).  We still did the raffle and gave out the extra cards.  

Also, as of now we are the only store that even ran the event, and gave out any promos at all.

We try our best to support the local play group by taking the time to plan and run events, provide product at reasonable prices, etc. If you are unhappy with how things are run here, feel free to not come to the store.

If you enjoy coming to the store, we appreciate your patronage and will continue to support our locals!


DO NOT bring your business here! They are the definition of a corrupt and underhanded dealing of their pre-orders and promo cards. Wouldn't trust them with a penny without an employee or a good friend to have a say on it first. Awful people here.

Response: I'm glad you are able to recognize that this review is valid by you stating only 5 people showed up to your event because of previous actions you did, you'd think there is reasoning behind us locals not to show up.
