About This Store

MyUnique Thrift is a thrift store located in Union, New Jersey that offers a wide variety of secondhand merchandise, including clothing, shoes, and handbags, at affordable prices. The store has garnered a mix of customer reviews.

One customer, Jennifer Egan, shares a positive experience visiting the store while staying with a friend in the area, noting "there is always a great variety of clothes, shoes, handbags etc to choose from at great prices." She describes it as a destination for "a great Girls Day" with her friend.

However, the store has also faced some criticism from customers. One reviewer attributes rising prices to "people who purposefully go to thrift stores to buy things for cheap and flip them for a huge profit online," suggesting the store may struggle with balancing affordable pricing for customers and managing resellers.

Another reviewer, who previously worked at the store, offers a mixed perspective. While they "enjoyed working and shopping there" and have "told so many friends and family about the great things" they purchased, they also note that "there were too many chiefs and 'NOT enough indians!'" and that "Most prices were too high for items that were and are now donated." This insider view provides some insight into the store's operational challenges.

Overall, MyUnique Thrift seems to offer a diverse selection of secondhand goods at variable pricing, drawing a mix of loyal customers and those who feel the store could improve its pricing and management approach.

To all the comments about the prices going up. It’s the fault of the people who purposefully go to thrift stores to buy things for cheap and flip them for a huge profit online themselves. They aren’t here to make us money unfortunately

I live in Queens, NYC and enjoy visiting my good friend in NJ a few times a year and our destination is My Unique Thrift Shop. I always leave the store happy and there is always a great variety of clothes, shoes, handbags etc to choose from at great prices. It's definitely worth the subway and NJ Transit train to have a great Girls Day with Nicole and Jeani!

WOW! ALMOST CAN NOT BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS/COMMENTS... I used to work there in Union and I can say that then, there were too many chiefs and "NOT enough indians!" Almost every associate tried to be the boss of everyone else. Most prices were too high for items that were and are now donated. I'm going back there very soon and I HOPE that things are better!? I did enjoy working and shopping there! I've told so many friends and family about the great things that I purchased and hope to again...

this is one of my favorite thrift stores in nj. lots of selection and well organized. just wish that the dressing rooms would open back up because it’s pretty annoying that you can’t try things on.

The store has shut its dressing rooms down but has not updated its no returns/no exchanges rule. If you have money to burn on clothes and shoes, then this could work.

I love thrifting and I love MyUnique, but there’s just something about this location. First off, there’s a random furniture store directly to the right of the entrance that is literally sharing the same roof as the Unique. I walked in there by accident, and I was looked at like a deer looks at a human. I felt immediately like I didn’t belong and got out of there fast. Hilariously, they sported an incredible deal which was a half broken karaoke machine with one of two microphones attached for like $90. As for the actual thrift store, I find it off putting to say the least. I found some weird stuff in there. Like medical grade equipment, and other unexplainable gadgets. Also, I think there is something in the air because I spent about an hour here and has a nasally headache for the entire rest of the day. A breath of fresh air upon exiting felt like a parched rhino getting its first sip of water in days in the serengeti. Also, I used the self checkout machine by myself once, and was scolded by the staff. Apparently they have to do it for you. My all time favorite story was when a frantic woman on the phone walked up to me, a youngin wearing a gray hoodie and asked if I worked there. Actually, she didn’t even ask she just straight up assumed I did, saying: “you work here, right?” I would like to note that MyUnique employees where bright red shirts that say MyUnique in large white text.

I’ve been coming here for years and the managers are nice but some of the employees are rude and miserable and they don’t care to show it. Today 10/5, the young light skinned female with short curly hair with bangs partially covering her eyes working at the counter removing sensors didn’t even have the courtesy to hand me the items back in my hand and just threw them on the counter. Her face had this disdain look as if I was bothering her and she didn’t even say a word to me. I understand the job probably sucks but again no one forced you to apply there. Besides the bad few, most of them are friendly & always smiling. Prices are somewhat expensive so I don’t come often.

It’s funny seeing people talk about how rude the employees are like they’re going to a five star restaurant and not a semi crappy thrift shop. The store is okay, I haven’t had a single issue with the people working there because I’m expecting bored teenagers and not concierges and bottle service, however it’s really going to depend on what you’re looking for to whether it’s worth it to go. I collect video games and it’s cheaper to buy things on eBay 90% of the time, which considering how overpriced everything is on eBay for games, you know their prices are completely out of wack. Sometimes I’ll pick up something but most of the time I walk around in a circle and leave without stopping. Still a fun little junk store.

Extremely OVERPRICED... I understand raising prices with the times changing and more demand, but these prices seemed over the top. You could have consistent profitable sales with fair pricing, but unfortunately with these prices customers will not return. I also see many reviews stating the manager would yell at customers; I know you come across the occasional shop-lifter but not everyone is there to steal and deserves to be yelled at.... poor older lady I saw was getting yelled at. " You catch more bees with honey than you do with vinegar".

This place speaks and reads as much as the improper name on its storefront. The checkout personnel were okay but could have been more cordial. The young minorities looked uncertain in their roles to serve us and others. We did not see a need for the receipt to be punctured with a pen if asset management can clearly see the customer make a purchase at the checkout station that is less than 15 steps away. Lastly, by having the checkout stations further away from purchases made, it would present a more logical case for asset protection personnel to be onsite. ■A Quyloon Reese Report on Experiences & Custom (QR-REC)®: Food: --/100 Portion to Cost Ratio: --/100 Comfortable: 70/100 (checkout stations are too close and frankly confusing) Hospitality (Staff): 45/100 Clean: 55/100 (not including restrooms) Overall Score: 160/300 (53.33%) ⭐⭐☆☆☆
