Vandy's is a clean, cozy thrift shop with good quality clothing for women and men. The staff made me feel right at home and were helpful without being pushy, and the shop's layout is intuitive and easy to navigate. Common brands that I saw there included Calvin Klein, Talbots, White House Black Market, GAP, and L.L. Bean. If those brands are up your alley, I definitely recommend setting aside an hour or so to visit Vandy's. Most clothes are sorted by size, then color -- for example, all medium shirts and blouses are on one rack, then organized by color. You can find a small selection of home goods on the left wall of the store. I didn't take a good look at their selection, but everything seemed to be in good condition. As for dresses, they have separate room that houses formal gowns (including bridal, it seemed). There is also a rack of casual and cocktail dresses in the main area. I was impressed with the quality of the dresses... I ended up buying 2 great LBDs at $10 each. On the right wall before the checkout counter, there are rows of heels, boots, and loafers. If you want to try something on, there is a single curtain-lined dressing area near the home goods. Most clothes (no stains/rips, gently worn, good brands) tend to be between $10-$20. I believe that the prices are generally reasonable given the quality and condition of the available items. There are a handful of items $5 and under. It is definitely worth scouring the racks for them though!

Update: check their Facebook page fir sales. I just picked up two coats at 50% off. This newest thrift shop in downtown Albany is top notch for high end resale goods. Pricing is simple at $5 increments, generally between $5-$25 for most items. Shop design is appealing and easy to navigate to find sizes. Dressing room is coming soon; but there is a staff bathroom if one must try something on. Staffed by participants in Vanderheyden programs. Entry is actually from the alley; not Broadway. Parking may be difficult on the street. Look up parking in downtown in that area before going if you aren't familiar with the city. Click "like" if helped by this review.

Finally downtown Albany has a proper thrift store! The prices are affordable and they even have a good selection of men's clothing. I got a beautiful pair of LL Bean shoes for my husband that was $15. For myself I got a vintage leather bag for $5 & a dress that was $5 as well. They also have a gorgeous selection of formal wear.

Today I decided to join a coworker for a walk around downtown Albany. During our adventures, we stumbled upon a very cute, hole-in-a-wall Thrift Shop called Vandys. Upon entry we were immediately greeted by the worker sitting behind the desk. We said our pleasantries and the fun immediately began. The shop had a nice selection of items, from men's/ women's/kids clothing nick nacks to dresses for a night out. Prices ranged from $5 through $35. There was a few items that I was so tempted to buy but had to decline at the last minute. My coworker purchased several items... a few of which was brand spanking new. She was totally excited. The check out process was quick and simple. When I return, I will be the one doing the shopping. I cannot wait!

First time going today. Looking for a formal ball gown. So many gorgeous dresses. Unfortunately, none fit me, but I will definitely try again, next time on town.
