Carlos did an incredible job on my chairs. I dropped off some furniture in very bad condition and he turned them into masterpieces. I get compliments on my chairs now all the time! The craftsmanship and detailing his puts into the work is so impressive. I can’t speak highly enough of him.

I have only the highest praise and admiration for Carlos’ work and craftsmanship. It is as fine as any I have seen. Worthy of Architectural Digest! Take note designers! But above that, he is a joy to work with. He will take his time with you, listen to you and guide you. And he will give you the trust and confidence that your piece is in the best hands possible. When I brought my Great Grandmother’s rocker to him, left torn and disabled in an attic for 70 years, not even a thrift shop would have taken it. He transformed it into a revived family treasure. Carlos did an absolutely spectacular job on a set of antique dinette chairs that I thought were unsalvageable. He managed to find exactly the vinyl I wanted, and even the silver studs that go around the chair backs. These were not easy to repair and upholster, but he did it, and did it beautifully! I am absolutely in love with the chairs, and would recommend Carlos for any upholstery job!

My husband and I just had a small antique settee re-upholstered by Carlos. He and his wife are wonderful, and their shop exudes artistic and business values that are timeless: high craft, a commitment to the craft above all else, values of old-world artisans. The couch is gorgeously done now, expert everywhere. Also, Carlos is a warm and welcoming person, and his wife helped us carry the couch down a flight of step-stairs and load it into our car. We felt that they were friends. Regarding price, Carlos is eminently reasonable and was willing to bring down the price a bit so that we could afford the upholstery. Highly recommend Carlos Upholstery! and long may his shop thrive in the Bronx!

I chose Carlos based on the photos on his website, as my chair was similar to those he had already done, and the work looked to be good. When I got to his shop and met him, I got the confidence that he truly knew his stuff and could do the job well. The turnaround time to do the job was entirely reasonable; I hadn't gotten prices anywhere else so I'm not sure whether pricing was inline with other shops, but the vibe told me that Carlos would do a good job. He took the time to explain his work process, and I was very impressed that he fills all the existing nail holes after he removes the old fabric so that the new nails will set properly. Carlos updated me along the way, telling me that he had retied the springs and added additional cushioning so that the chair would give a better sit. The chair was ready as promised, and it's good as new. Better, probably. It looks beautiful, the nailing is completely even all around, the sewing of the welting is perfect, and the crown of the seat is nicely padded and even--no lumps or divots. A completely worthy investment, as the chair is ready for another 70 years at least! I would recommend Carlos to anyone.

Carlos’ work is indeed simply the best! He learned his craft from his father and grandfather. Therefore, Carlos knows exactly how to “treat” even the oldest piece of furniture, without taking any shortcuts. Highly, highly recommend Carlos Upholstery.
