A Collector's Eye: A Treasure Trove of Historical Memorabilia in Hudson, New York
Nestled in the charming town of Hudson, New York, A Collector's Eye is a unique antique store that caters to history enthusiasts and collectors alike. Owned by Conrad, a self-described historian, this shop is a veritable treasure trove of rare and fascinating artifacts, with a particular focus on World War II memorabilia.
As described by one reviewer, Daniel Flint, an independent historian, "If you are a true WWII collector, this is the guy and shop you need to visit." The store's inventory is a testament to Conrad's deep knowledge and passion for preserving historical items, with "amazing rare finds" that span a wide range of military collectibles, from uniforms and tools to knives and other equipment.
Customers rave about the store's impressive collection, with one reviewer, Jordan Goldstein, noting that "you can spend hours in this store." The owner's commitment to preserving historical memorabilia is evident, as he not only curates an exceptional selection of items but also assists people and estates in monetizing their own historical treasures.
Beyond the military artifacts, A Collector's Eye also boasts an "incredible collection of 78 rpm records that are hard to find," according to reviewer Eduardo Karpat, who describes the store as "probably the best for militaria from clothes to tools to knives."
The owner's expertise and enthusiasm are a major draw for customers, with several reviewers highlighting their enjoyable conversations with Conrad. As Jack Steinharter notes, "the owner convinced me to look into my own grandfather's WWII history and to preserve his memory." Another reviewer, Bryon Carlin, praises the owner's friendliness, stating that "if you're a history buff you can have a very fun conversation with him."
Regardless of one's specific interests, A Collector's Eye seems to offer a unique and engaging shopping experience for anyone who appreciates history and the stories behind the items on display. As one reviewer, Deli Lama, simply puts it, the store is a "Beautiful Old Stuff" kind of place, where visitors can browse a carefully curated collection of military memorabilia, antiques, and other historical treasures.

I can’t begin to say enough about this shop. From the owner to the items in his collection if you are a rue WWII collector this is the guy and shop you need to visit. Being the Team historian for a WWII jump team he has some amazing rare finds. As you can see from the photos awesome 511 Warren street Hudson NY. Awesome place.
Thank you for your visit and the conversation. We learned an awful lot about your group, too, and that adds to the scope and breadth of our interest and involvement in preserving these important and rare pieces of History for collectors such as yourself. Looking forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Hudson.

Can spend hours in this store. Conrad, the owner, is a historian through and through. I had a wonderful time talking about history and him showing me all of his amazing collectables this past Saturday. Wasn't able to make it back the next day, but definitely plan on returning to buy something and at the very least enjoy a great conversation. His commitment to preserving historical military (and other) memorabilia, as well as helping out the people/estates looking to monetize their old things, is quite admirable
Thank you for your visit. We have spent years collecting and sharing our experiences and collections. Having visitors to the gallery, such as yourself, enables us to engage and share the stories, history and items when folks find something they want. So much history, and everything has a story. We're thrilled when return visitors tell us they were inspired to engage their own relatives in conversation about their past because of the conversations we inspired. Looking forward to your next visit.

I went to this shop for a second time after my kids bought some items here last year. To save the kids the long car ride just to go to this one store, we decided that we would do a video walkthrough. To my surprise, there were signs posted on the outside saying you can’t take photos inside the store. I thought it was a bit odd so I went inside to ask the owner if it was okay if I do a video call with my kids so they could see what new items he had and possibly make a purchase. He quickly said “No! That is not possible!…Where are they?” I told him and he said “No! You will have to plan another trip with them, you can’t do that here.” Shocked, I left. I couldn’t believe that he wouldn’t allow me to show my kids the store via video. I personally don’t want them spending their hard earned chore money in this store after that interaction. Very disappointing.

The store has a back room containing Nazi memorabilia. No thanks
Thank you for visiting our gallery. The German and Japanese material are war trophies brought back by veterans after their service and sacrifice for our country. We recover value for their families with sales to collectors, reenactors, costumers and historians. The Collection is behind a wall and you had to peek around a chained up door to see it. We are very selective as to who has access.
