Update after job 2: Another great job by Double Queue! As you can see, I’m becoming a repeat customer. First a very sentimental day-bed, now an armoire… and I’m guessing I’ll be back again! From job 1: Recently had to move from NYC due to high rents. Now trying to make a go of it upstate (also expensive!) but one of the silver linings is that I’m closer to skilled, honest people like Christopher who are not totally greedy! In NYC the quotes were astronomical -I found that everyone assumed that if you lived there and prioritized spending money on furniture repair you must be either wealthy or a trust fund kid. I held onto all my broken antiques for years, unable to use them, in the hope that I could find someone more reasonably priced down the road. Granted, I didn’t ask him to restore my furniture to museum quality, but just so that I could actually use it. The point of this review is to say: Christopher will work with you to meet your particular needs. If you have the resources to spend and and want museum quality work that you can access from NYC- he is beyond capable and offers that. If, like me. you just value quality old furniture and want to return it to a usable state, Christopher will offer you that option as well. This is rare in the times we live in, and I really appreciate that people like Christopher are still around. He has steady business and deserves every referral he gets.

My design firm, Cochineal Design, works with Christopher on almost every project. We buy a lot of vintage pieces that often need to be refinished, restored or repaired. He has a keen eye for detail and the impeccable skill level we require of our collaborators. It's a careful balance of respecting the material and craftsmanship of a period piece while at the same time giving it new life for a current user. I'm very happy to highly recommend!

I reached out about a repair and received a prompt and helpful response. After looking at pictures and some back and forth he realized the best course of action was for us to purchase some pre-made legs and reattach them ourselves. He gave us the advice that was best for us, not the business. I greatly appreciated his guidance and honesty and would definitely go back again with any future repair needs.

We have been using Christopher for many years to restore, refinish, repair and beautify many antiques and art pieces. He’s dependable in a pinch and we love working with him. - rob sperte, alexander doherty design
