Purchased a breathtaking engagement ring, circa 1935, and I could not have had a better experience. The knowledge and passion possessed by the James Robinson staff is second to none! I will definitely be back to purchase anniversary gifts.

When rating a business it is important to rate them on Honesty, reliability, customer service and above all the knowledge that you are not just a bank account. Today I learned I am only a bank account To Robinson Inc. My family has been buying from places like JJ Lally (Excellent) A La Vieille Russie (Excellent) etc,. In the course of decades we have not only bought but on occasion Sold. So imagine my surprise when attempting to call James Robinson I encountered difficulty just getting a sales representative to accept the call. The excuse was "We just got back from the Armory Show" (about 8 blocks away from the store. It's so difficult to place jewelry back in the display cases (inferred but not stated) When I asked about my email to them being viewed I literally got brushed off being told (well looking at those pictures would take us several days. I'm not kidding, she actually told me to stop bothering her for the next three days while they watched service people unpack things to place in the room around them. Not once in Seventy years when we were in the store (E57th) were we told to leave and come back because accepting our money was too much effort. When I asked more persistently that the emails (two total) be looked at I was told she would do it and get back to me today. Within minutes I received this: No, thank you. These items are not for us. Hope the answer was quick enough for you, sir. Cut and copied the entire email. I am now in receipt of two more emails where the store made up excuses including insulting me for being rude to the girl, which never happened. So Now I'm going to be rude. This place does Not Deserve the reputation they portray. It's a false front. They want your money and will place the imaginary portrayal of their sales girl before even asking the customer what their encounter had been. No one asked me anything. I got pushed off, ignored, treated rudely by both the woman who answers the phone and the sales girl then in an email from someone named James. I whole heartedly recommend anyone who wants an honest encounter to look elsewhere. James Robinsons reputation clearly was left in their 57th st showroom.
