I’ve been following this shop on social media for a while now and finally had a chance to stop in! Unlike other shops of this nature, Modern Vintage is extremely well organized, bright, clean & much larger than I expected! You will truly find something for everyone & every price point! I will definitely be returning!

I’ve been buying from here for years and always find cute, unique items at fair prices. Today I called and talked to Brielle needing advice about a project, and she went above and beyond to help me. Small business customer service at its best. Follow them on Instagram and act quickly if you like something!

We love this vintage shop. We purchased a beautiful refurbished dresser. Tara was so helpful and we love how they bring past treasures back to life! This store is a must for unique and "new" items! You can find them on Instagram and Facebook for new items!

BY FAR one of the best places to find Vintage, antique, and interior design pieces. We'll curated sections with reasonable prices and friendly staff. I think I have bought at least 10 different items there for different parts of my house including a standing globe and a vintage sandcastle from the 1970s. This place is the best shop in NE Ohio!

Great antique/furniture store. The owners restore various hard wood furniture and make it beautiful again. I love their work and their pricing is much better than if you were to go buy a brand new wooden piece of furniture. If you’re looking for solid furniture or decor that will last and isn’t too expensive, MV is worth checking out.

Love so many of their products! And they have such a variety of styles to choose from that anyone can find something.

Quaint little shop in the heart of downtown Hartville. We don't always find something, but go at least once a week to check out what they've added. Ellie's merchandise is our personal favorite to look through, and we also love to see Mooch! Definitely worth your time to stop by if you're in town.

Unique items. Furniture refinishing is very well done. Prices are very reasonable.

My mother and I frequent the shop often.  We love all the pieces.  I have purchased several things from the store from large buffets to small items to decorate our new home.  The ladies are very helpful and that includes Mooch The pup!  We love Modern Vintage and can’t wait for the new location to open!  Keep rockin it ladies!

I quite a wonderful assortment of some very attractive Furniture trying to find a way to make it fit into my house. Definitely worth going and taking a look at all the very cool things that they have in stock. Staff was friendly and helpful while not being overbearing. Lost items that were there already had sold stickers on them

This is like a little slice of heaven for me!  This is the best repurposed furniture I've seen as a whole. A lot of places have a nice piece or two, but this is a whole store full of AWESOME pieces.

So glad I took the extra few minutes to stop in and wish I'd known about it when I was redecorating!!

I visited this shop for the first time this past weekend and it is amazing!!! Without a doubt, the highest caliber of repainting/upcycling old furniture that I have ever seen! I love the way the shop looks and there are smaller vintage items scattered throughout the store. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us while we were shopping, and then even gave us some recommendations on where to eat afterwards. I can't wait to go back and decorate my future house with some of their items!

I was so impressed with their furniture.  Most stores have distressed furniture.  Their furniture is beautifully finished.  More expensive than most places but, a difference in finishes also.

This is the best place in Stark County for all of your home decor needs.  They have the best vintage pieces made to look modern.  The store carries handmade items from local artists.  This store is where you  will find all things Modern and Vintage.  Worth the drive no matter your location!!

Great place for rehab furniture, but when compared to similar shops in the area I found the prices on decor quite a bit higher. Nice, clean store though. I enjoy your marketing on your FB page. Really draws me in to shop in person.

First antique type store I've ever been to that stated when I inquired on a piece "marked prices are firm no negotiation"  which is certainly their prerogative but not mine.

I can certainly respect a difference in taste and opinion but I do not feel that difference justifies you calling my little shop "hell". That's just petty. -Tara

Not at all what the name implies. I was hoping for some MCM, or at least something from the 60's or 70s. NOPE. It's all "Shabby Chic". I walked into a hell filled with chalk painted furniture and the devil was none other than Annie Sloan herself. There was not a single piece of original vintage in the store and certainly nothing modern. She ruins good vintage furniture by painting it turquoise. So. Much. Turquoise. You need to change your name or something. The Shabby Chic Shack or something more in line with what you do.

This business definitely had some really interesting items at good prices. However, when I walked into the store and asked whether or not they carried a certain item… I was told to look around I’m sure you will find something that will work. The person at the register continued to play on her phone the whole time that we were in there and offered no help at all. I was very disappointed to be treated so rudely.  It is a true shame because I saw some things that I would’ve purchased had I been treated better. Customer service and friendliness are everything.

I understand that you don't agree with how we sourced this item. Most of the furniture we purchase to sell needs major cleaning, repairs, refinishing, up cycling etc. We do get plenty of those items from Restore as well as private sellers, estate sales and other vintage, antique and resale shops. Most of these items we put a lot of work into and have less of a profit margin. This particular item was just a lucky find at a great price. When pricing it the vendor took into account it's wonderful condition, its unique look and it's great quality. She looked up the maker and prices of similar sofas new and used.

As for our social media... Maybe I didn't handle that in the best possible way and for that I apologize. I was eating dinner after 8:00 last night when I felt like our business was being vilified on our own page. I deleted the first comment with the intent of sending you a private message. I definitely was caught off guard and needed a moment to process. More messages came in and I did block you from further commenting to give myself time to figure out how I wanted to answer. It is a divisive topic. I do know there are people who share the same view as you... that thrift type stores are meant only for low-income people to shop in. We know that they are welcoming to all paying customers in order to generate more money to fund their missions. I don't expect to sway your opinion. I do want to stress that the example of this sofa does not represent the vast majority of the items that we source to sell. Hi. Yes, we are a business. We source things from many different local businesses, estate sales etc. We curate them in our shop. We buy things that we love and we sell for a profit because we are a business. Many things we refinish and put a lot of work into and make a smaller profit. Occasionally we find a wonderful piece at a great price, research it and make a little bit more. Restore and other thrift shops not only provide affordable furniture for people who need it or want it, they sell their donated items in order to raise funds for their projects. We buy lots of things from them and we are happy to support their mission. We are a small business who has been in Hartville for over 12 years. There are several vendors in our shop. We all pay income tax. I property tax on the building, and collect and pay sales tax. We pass out maps of other local shops. We participate in local events. We are an asset to our community and yes we are here to make a living. We are happy to source mostly one of a kind and vintage items from other local businesses rather than filling our shop with mass-produced items made overseas that are ordered online. I attempted to respond to you privately but kept getting interrupted by notifications of you putting down our business and tagging our customers in the post. I'm sorry that you view our business the way you do and that you are making a point to post negative comments and reviews to hurt it. We love our shop, we all work very hard and for you to classify it the way you have is hurtful.

I’ve exceeded the character limitation, so I’ve added 2 additional screenshots containing my 1st and 2nd response to the owner on this review. I hope when other prospective customers look up the reviews for your business, they think twice about spending their hard earned money not just at a place of business that exploits the economically disadvantaged folks in Stark County, but ultimately to a business owner with a severe lack of empathy.

Tara, the more you double down on this, the worse you make yourself look. Are we supposed to feel sorry for you that you have a lower profit margin on furniture that you resell that actually required you to put a little work into it before you flipped it for a profit? That’s seriously the reason you’re giving for trying to justify your despicable, unethical reseller behaviors? That’s your own fault for not pricing your items according to the needs of your business! That doesn’t mean you get to scam people by buying furniture that you do NOTHING to for more than 5x what you paid! Yeah, I’m sure it was a “lucky” find for you- imagine the person who might be low income and looking to furnish their first apartment who also would’ve felt “lucky” to find that couch for $85, too bad they couldn’t because you took it upon yourself to sleazily slap it up in your showroom for a whopping $450. How silly of you to think that the “effort” (and I used that term lightly, because let’s be real, that didn’t take a lot of effort,) of your “vendor” looking up the price of the sofa and comparables for new and used should warrant a $365 profit. Get real.

Let it be known that you’re painting yourself as the victim now that you’re being held accountable. You felt like your business was being “vilified?” I hate to break it to you, but exploiting a service that is not meant for what you’re using it for to make yourself richer IS in fact, villainous! You blocked me so you could “give yourself time to how you wanted to answer?” How exactly did you plan on answering me AFTER you blocked me and could no longer contact me? Lie after lie after lie! You blocked me because you didn’t like that I was pointing out the fact that you were scamming people by reselling that couch, that is the truth! You didn’t want people to realize how shady this was!
And to be clear, I don’t believe thrift stores should be exclusive to the low income community. However, I DO believe that what YOU are doing- which is exploiting a service that is intended to benefit the low income population to selfishly make a profit-  is DISGUSTING. If you were buying this for your own personal use, then that’s one thing, but that isn’t what you’re doing, now is it Tara?

You claim that this couch “doesn’t represent” the majority of the items that you source to sell, but thanks to this review, I hope it casts doubt into the minds of everyone of your customers that you try to defraud in the future and that they avoid your reseller scam shop like the plague.

This store has some nice items. However, when I walked in, I was ignored by the owner at the desk who was playing on her phone. I had inquired about an item in the store and she was so busy in her phone that she couldn't even look at me when she responded "no" with rudeness and annoyance in her voice.  I really liked a lot of items so the lack of courtesy was really disappointing. It’s a shame for their business because I would have purchased if the owner had been even slightly pleasant or happy that that she had a customer interested in purchasing items.  Unfortunately for the vendors, I left without purchasing anything simply based on her attitude. If you're a vendor there I would be aware that the owner turns customers away from purchasing or assisting them with purchasing. I'm sure it doesn't matter to her whether their items sell or not since she gets her rent money either way.
