I wanted to see the press museum but also wound up wandering around the building's arts and antiques shops. It's huge! So many different things - from jewelry and art-magnets to second-hand books, toys, and clothes.

A beautiful, rustic place for local artists to sell their art. What's nice about this place is that you can see the art before you buy versus seeing the art online only. The atmosphere is friendly and the prices are fair. If you're looking for some new decorations, and want to support the local community, check this place out!

Not only is Building Character a great collection of vintage shops and home goods (my kids walked away with a pack of vintage Smurf tattoos for $5) the customer service is next level. While visiting the area, my family left a shopping bag from another store at BC. When I called they found the bag and Joel was kind enough to ship the bag to us in CT without a moments hesitation. Amazing collection of vendors and artists.  Better than similar malls in larger cities.  Fun to visit even you arent shopping for something specific.

Omg I'm in love with this place! It's like a flea market / craft market but with a funky urban wild side. Sometimes cheeky- naughty. I cant wait to go back and see what all the artists, creators, collectors have next! It's probably the only reason I'll go back to Lancaster! But that's just me, elated to find skulls, leopard print, monsters etc among the normal antique store stuff! Best of both worlds.

This store has very unique trinkets, decorations, jewelry and gifts even. This was recommended to us by a waitress and I’m so glad we went. It was amazing how talented everyone is!

Great place to shop for aesthetics, trinkets and some vintage items. They work with a lot of local small businesses and are usually responsibly priced. And the staff are really sweet. Definitely my go-to spot for decorating and gifts

So many Lancaster based items that made great souvenirs. You also get to support local artists. The woman at the front was so kind and helpful!

Really cool place. I thought it was one store but when you get inside you realize it's more like a flea market with various vendor booths selling their unique collectibles and items. Really loved this place and I'm glad I went back to it. When I first found it, it hadn't opened yet, so I went and got a coffee and then came back. Definitely worth it! Really interesting stuff.

This place is such a gem! Every time I visit, I walk out with a bunch of new treasures. The vintage/antiques here are more trendy/eclectic than true vintage, which I prefer.

If you plan on visiting, I recommend parking in the parking garage down the street, next to Decades.

This is a fantastic spot with unique vendors. It is the perfect way to support small local businesses. They have everything from snacks and desserts to jewelry, vintage clothing, and much more. If you are looking for a unique gift or are just looking for eclectic finds, then this is the place for you.

Cool flea market/vintage shop! Some of the offerings were reasonably priced. We ended up getting some kitschy jewelry and a few gag gift sodas (bacon-flavored, peanut butter and jelly-flavored). My fiancée enjoyed looking around, and it was definitely worth the stop.

This antique store to me is a gem in the small city of Lancaster. It promotes local artists and business owners to sell anything from vintage clothes, candy, leather, jewelry, records, art, and anything you can imagine in this old renovated space. You can always find something new every time you come- it has a very unique charm to it and is a must-see in Lancaster.

This store has everything imaginable from cool antique clothing and jewelry, unique sodas and interesting scented candles, lots and lots of old records. Definitely a place you have to check out at least once, after one visit I’d happily visit again.

I went with my girlfriend and had a blast, the amount of artists that had their stuff on sale and the other stuff along with that were too much for me to even see. The store has a nice vibe and the employees seemed very nice. If I had more money I’d buy so much stuff here. Very neat shop!  Very local shop in Lancaster with lots of various handmade products from local vendors.  There's a wide selection of neat stuff and something for everyone!  Great place for looking for gifts!  And the shop is very large and the staff are friendly.

This is an awesome space that features over 60 vendors selling art, crafts, collectibles and antiques in little nooks around the space. You’ll find all types of items that you haven’t thought about in years. It has a nostalgic effect that is super fun and takes you back to simpler times. A great spot for locals and tourists alike, as they have a ton of local novelties and snacks to check out.

I always love seeing all the unique crafters and creations along with the vintage vendors.  Seems like there might be a little bit of a shift to more vintage than crafters.

It's hard to explain Building Character. Is it a kitschy thrift store? Yes. Is it a local art dealer. Also yes. Is it someplace you could spend all day and still not see everything? Absolutely yes. If you are anywhere near Lancaster, just make the trip to Building Character. It's amazing.

Big funky store featuring local artists’ work, and second hand/vintage collections. I was amazed by the quality offered here! They had anything and everything you could expect: old records, handmade jewelry, prints, stickers, posters, second hand decor, clothes, ornaments, etc. I loved all the Lancaster/PA-specific merchandise right when you enter! This was the highlight of my day trip to Lancaster!

This is well worth a visit if you in the area! So much to see, multiple rooms that you could take a few hours meandering through.  Everything you could possibly be interested in - vintage items, art prints and paintings, jewelry, wood working, crystals and tarot, dark and macabre items, books, antiques, clothing, stickers, vinyl, crochet, collectibles and memorabilia, and so much more! I loved seeing the hand made wares and all of the cool art. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Lancaster!

This is an awesome place with MANY local vendors to check out! Everything from antiques/vintage clothing to local, handmade art and decor. Probably took me about an hour to see everything, but it was totally worth it! A true gem in Lancaster

This place is amazing. If you ever have an hour or 2 to just walk around the store it's definitely worth it. My husband sells his hot sauce (Island Harmony Hot Sauce) here so we go frequently to stock back up especially during holidays.

If Spencer's gifts was just for hipsters, it'd be this place. Honestly I wanted one of everything in there. Great gifts for hard to buy for people! Fun unusual stuff you won't see anywhere else. You find a cute gift for anyone and a few for yourself. Not outrageously priced.

Every time you visit there is more and more to see! If you're into metaphysical things, D&D, rubber ducks, vintage clothes, candles - whatever! You can find it here! It's close enough to Central Market to walk, but they have their own parking lot in the back. While you're here make sure you check out the Printing Press Museum, which is located in the back of Building Character! It's totally worth it.

Such a cool place!! Tons of individual vendors have booths set up and it's an eclectic mix of antiques, vintage, and new clothes and jewelry, furnishings & home decor, and handcrafted or repurposed items. Who knows what treasures you will find - there is something for everyone! Worth a stop if you are anywhere near downtown. There are only 3 parking spaces outside the front entrance dont park anywhere else in the lot!), but you can find inexpensive metered street parking on the other side of the block. The employees working the register up front were really nice. Cant wait to visit again!

This place is a hidden gem we stumbled upon while walking around Lancaster. I stopped in because I wanted to see the printing press, and I realized the store just kept going! So many different unique handmade and vintage items. Perfect place to buy Christmas gifts and souvenirs. Also, the store is dog friendly!

This place smelled really good (which I think played a large role in its charm) and had a bunch of cool collectibles and trinkets. The record I bought there is a bit warped but everything else I got is great and the experience of visiting was worth it.

This place is huge! There's so many different shops within one building. You can pretty much find anything there from vintage treasures, snacks, handmade gifts, and a whole lot more. I've never taken so many pictures for a review, but I wanted to get the point across of how much is available here, lol. There's way more than I have pictured here. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Great place to shop locally! This place shows a variety of options with great quality. Some stands don't change very often, so this is a place I don't go to frequently. This place is still great and appreciates the community. It's also a bit pricey, so make sure you spend wisely!

Hmmm not amazing. It was filled with new stuff, was expecting mostly vintage.

I was about to purchase a $95 lamp and I wanted confirmation that the total will be $95 since I pay in cash. They said no, which is bizarre as I have shopped at antique stores in Pennsylvania my entire life and have always been offered a cash discount. I asked if they could please contact the owner if the lamp to ask and they refused.
I then asked if they knew where u could get my dog to the nearest water bowl and the lady handed me an empty bowl and walked away. I then asked where there’s a tap. She said water in the refrigerator. I then asked to use the bathroom and I obtained water from the tap there. The entire time the two cashiers were rude and unprofessional. I then took my business to Space. The customer service there is five star. I will continue to shop there instead. I hope to find a lamp like this one someday as my cash was not appreciated where the rude ones work.
