I thought the staff and service was absolutely amazing. The prices on shoes I bought a pair of Jordan 6s and a pair of Griffey air max 90s got them both for 140 and tbh they both look brand new I would recommend them to anyone !!

Found this store just by chance. LOVED it!! They have a WIDE selection! A great aisle of Vintage clothing which I personally enjoyed! The store itself was clean, organized, and the staff very helpful! Bring your own bag! Bring in clothes you no longer wear rather than just donating them to Goodwill. Great store! Super friendly staff, everything is laid out really well. Biggest (and best) difference between this place and other thrift stores I've been to is that this one has so many more quality items! No Walmart but lots of Calvin Klein, White House Black Market, Ralph Lauren, MK, Coach, and Kate spade bags, and tons of other mid-range designers. Found some great little pieces for well under retail! I'm not from this area but will definitely stop in again on my next trip!

Literally the cutest store! I took some clothes in to sell and not only did I get more money than I thought the girls working were so nice, respectful and knowledgeable. I also shopped around and although their prices are a tad bit higher than other consignment stores that’s the whole reason I got more money back when selling my own items to them. :)

Great selection, they always have good prices and awesome sales! The people that work there have great attitudes and will help you with anything you need. I also love that they send texts to notify if sales, and that I can earn points for discounts. Plus if you have name brand clothes to sell they are fair with purchases. Very impressed by the store, fitting rooms, bathroom. I was greeted as soon as I came in the door which was nice, I almost didn't know what to say because that so rarely happens anymore. The staff was helpful, friendly, and took their time to help me and did not make me feel rushed or awkward for taking my time. A++ on all levels and definitely happy to have spent my money here. Found some great stuff at a good price. Many items still new with tags.

I shopped here for the first time yesterday and had a great experience. I love buying secondhand and this is by far the best resale store in Morgantown. I found two awesome, high quality pieces that will be in my wardrobe for years to come at such a great price. The store was very organized and fun to browse, not stressful at all like some other secondhand clothing stores in town. Great selection and wide variety of sizes which I appreciate. I will 100% be back!

Great store to sell and purchase from; vintage items too. I got a Halloween costume here one year. Regretfully passed up an awesome Louis Vuitton collection of purses and luggage at store a few years ago. Wish I would have bought Louis set. Staff are always friendly and quick to process items.

I really love the atmosphere here 🩷 they always have a lot of cute trendy stuff. Price I would say is hit or miss. A lot of cute upcycled clothes, but you'll sometimes pick something up and be pretty shocked at the tag. Wonderful customer service 😊

Thank you for your feedback and review. We are an EOE and the cashier you mentioned is autistic, so social interactions can be difficult if distracted. There was a warning on the software screen just as you came to checkout and that had her distracted. Thank you for your understanding. 

Experience was pretty nice actually, the cashier wore her emotions on her face. Meaning she was either over the day she has had or something I did particularly annoyed her. Of course, I believed it to be the latter half. A cashier should have at least good verbal communication and at least a half fake smile or one welcoming way of words to make a customer feel welcomed and appreciated. Which usually makes the customer come back, not just the items. But the “overall experience”. I would have appreciated a smile or at least eye contact at one point during the transaction. But the older lady totally made up for the attending cashiers lack of hospitality and gratitude.

I love Uptown! It’s my favorite place to consign. They always give me a good price for my items and the girls are always sweet!

*** Editing my review because Uptown has changed drastically. I have brought in brand new boutique clothing twice with tags (each item originally $65+ tagged with proof) and they took 1 thing. It depends on who’s working when you take stuff in. Some employees have very *unique* styles and it seems they only buy things that are their style which is unfortunate because their style is very rare. It takes me over an hour to drive there and the past couple times it hasn’t been worth my time or gas money to go. The employees have not been nice to me like they use to be.

Thank you for your feedback on our resale store, not consignment. Just to help clarify, we no longer buy fast fashion like Amazon or Shein. We've never bought WalMart brands because resale value is typically 70% off retail pricing and WalMart is already very affordable. Our plus sizes go straight to the floor, never to backstock. We'd love to have more plus size vendors come sell to us, we look for current and trendy styles in excellent condition. 

Not bad but too overpriced for consignment, since most of what I found was from Target, Wal Mart, and Old Navy or off brand whole sale stuff you see in bulk on Amazon. Occasionally I saw a couple of items slipped in but I still wasn’t impressed (and I’m referring to clothing only, purses and formal dresses looked alright). There’s not much in terms of Large, XL, and XXL items (women) and what they did have was underwhelming, I don’t know if that’s because they don’t get a lot in there in those sizes or they don’t take them. Overall this was a disappointing experience where in my case I’d do just as well, if not better, buying new clothes at Target. But to each their own.

Luckily H&M is not a brand we buy in often, unless a trendy style. With our 5,000 sq. ft. store we have thousands of brands to choose from. Current/trendy styles in excellent condition. Our prices are very much in line with resale values across our more than 170 locations nationwide. Happy shopping!

If you want to pay $12 for an H&M top that probably was originally $12-$15 to begin with then sure this store is nice. I will say it seems like they actually pick good in style clothes/ out of style but prices are still high for used clothes lol

So very sorry this happened to you! I could not agree more that this was very unprofessional and not at all the way we do things. The employee is very new and still learning at the buy station. This issue was discussed with her and she was very apologetic. Thank you for the reminder for us to be considerate when handling customer's belongings. 

Brought in a bunch of clothes to be appraised. I decided to look/shop around while I waited. During this when I was about 15 feet away, the employee held up my clothes and made fun of them MULTIPLE times.

And I get it, you can’t take every single piece of clothing that comes through the door. I wasn’t expecting that to happen. But I didn’t appreciate being judged when I was very obviously within earshot. Super unprofessional.

We do sincerely apologize. We had several days recently without internet due to Comcast making upgrades in the area, and had to close the buy counter. This creates a backlog and everyone tends to then come in at the same time. We can only handle so many buys per day without having to stay to midnight to process it all.  We are short staffed and training as fast as we can, but buying takes time to learn and be efficient at. Please, we ask for patience and understanding to get everything back working the way it should. Yes, great suggestion to call first before making the trip. Also Spring is the busiest buy season with closet clean outs, so do expect the wait times to be longer. Hopefully you love us enough to hang in there and support us as we try our hardest to make things better and smoother. Thank you, we truly appreciate our great customers. 

I feel that more times than not when I try to go sell the buying counter is closed. They have a rule that states they can buy up to an hour before closing which I completely understand, BUT I have went in multiple occasions and at different times wayyy before they stop buying just to walk in to find out the buying counter is closed. At this point I feel like I have to call and ask before I drive all the way across town for nothing. I get that things come up and sometimes you have to close it for certain reasons but to the point that it’s more often closed than it is open when I go? I love shopping there I truly do, their selection is wonderful but the buying experience with the counter being closed is agitating and makes me want to sell elsewhere.

I will try to explain: Returns in our system are linked to the original customer and the original Invoice ID. Returns are for Store Credit ONLY, so the return invoice needs to be linked to the original customer to receive this Store Credit on the customer's account. This is why we explain that to the customer when they decide not to create an account and we verify with them that they are OK that their items will be final sale without said account. In review of the cameras, our newest staff member did exactly this explanation and received your verbal OK that you understood the items would be final sale. When you came back with the $6.99 shirt that you inadvertently purchased, the staff member, being new, didn't know what to do. Again she did the correct thing by calling me to verify that nothing could be done. This transaction took place on a Saturday evening. On the following Monday morning, our corporate marketing department forwarded your email to me. I got on the phone with our corporate Tech department and together we developed a temporary work around to be able to do this return for you, for store credit. When you called the store, our Manager explained that when you come back with the $6.99 shirt, that we can do the return for store credit. There are over 300 locations of Kid to Kid and Uptown Cheapskate and all the software works the same in that a store account is required to put the store credit from a return. In 7 years of our Morgantown location, this has never been an issue before because our staff do a very good job of explaining this and getting the customer's verbal OK that they understand. This is just how the software is designed. We consider our stores lucky that we can offer returns at all on used items. But we must have an account to put the store credit on. It is unfortunate that you purchased 4 items but only wanted 3 of them. I do believe that we have gone above and beyond to help you correct the mistake. Being that you are from out of town, you may not know that we are a small family run business that loves our customers and our hometown of Morgantown so very much. We believe in running a very honest business that offers good value to our local community. Hope this explanation is helpful and look forward to hopefully meeting you when you return. 


BUYER BEWARE! I inadvertently purchased a shirt while buying other items and noticed the mistake prior to even walking out of the store. I was advised, even after the cashier went out of her way to call "the owner", that I was unable to receive a refund and also unable to receive store credit due to not setting up a rewards program at the beginning of the transaction. After emails and a call to the store, I am now going to at least get store credit however no customer should have to deal with this kind of hassle from a retail location. The return policy is not customer friendly so the customer obviously is not the store's priority.

The pricing is the same for all locations since we use the same buying software everywhere. So I’m not sure why you would think our pricing is higher, unless it was a higher end brand you were unfamiliar with. All locations are also bagless to be sustainable to the environment. We do have plastic bags if you really need one, but when you go without we donate the cost of that bag to charity. Unfortunately the points can only be honored at each location because each store is individually owned, and the sales and rewards go to the rightful store owner. Our staff are extremely sweet and helpful, some a bit on the shy side and we are slowly breaking them in to the realities of rude customers. Safe travels! 

Have been to multiple locations including, Austin, TX & Springfield, MO (which has multiple colleges & universities),  but of all the ones I have visited .... this location is extremely overpriced. Resell shouldn't be $5-$10 less than brand new items. Some of the staff is very rude & treats customers like the unfortunate have stolled onto Rodeo Dr. We were told that our purchase would have to be carried out due to "bags aren't healthy for the enviroment" & any membership we had with other UC's was not honored at this location. Have not gone back, nor will ever go back. Too many other great shops in Morgantown with great resell pricing & no attitudes.

Since “Lost Time” is not your true name I have nothing to go by to verify if you were in our store and see what happened to upset you. If you could provide those details so we can see if your 1 star review is warranted or not. The locals love our store and sweet helpful staff, so I’m surprised by your criticism. 

Without a doubt the worst uptown cheapskate i’ve ever been to. You can tell the inexperienced staff have no clue whats going on and don’t really care to know either lol. Compared to other buy sell trade stores, this is up there with the worst. Avoid if you can. If you are local, just go to platos closet, no use wasting your time.

When we first opened was over 6 years ago, and I can personally assure you that the buyers would never have been laughing at the clothes they were presorting through, because the buyers at that time were the owners themselves. We are resale not consignment. So before you bash a great small business and promote the only other resale shop in town, you may want to get your facts straight and be more relevant to the current time frame, since you haven't sold to us in over 6 years. Our employees are the absolute sweetest and our shop is simply awesome. So move along please. 

I went there when they first opened. I took some clothes in for them to buy. As I shopped around I happened to look up at the sales clerks and they were laughing at my clothes and said they couldn't take any because they were outdated. They were so rude to me I swore I would never go back. I took my clothes to Plato's Closet and they bought them all. This place is not a good consignment store.

The staff did a very thorough job of explaining to you how resale works and the payout percentage. Out of our 5,000 sq. ft. store we only dedicate 8ft. of space to formal gowns because they only have an opportunity of selling at peak Homecoming and Prom seasons. We offer a convenient way for customers to earn some money for things they no longer need or wear. Certainly you would earn more for your items by selling them yourself online, in fact we encourage this with items such as you brought in. As it is your right, you chose to decline our very reasonable offer. 
We are a national franchise with over 150 locations and our software pricing system is very accurate for assigning resale values to items. And I, the owner, helped the staff to accurately price your items. We do not carry kid's clothes because our sister store Kid to Kid handles that. I get that you are upset that you paid a lot of money for your gently used gowns, that is unfortunate. This is one of the biggest reasons we chose, unlike most Uptowns, to carry formal gowns for our great customers that cannot spend a fortune on a brand new gown and are looking to us for a much more affordable option. Our staff was very informative and kind to you and your daughter, even carried your items back out to your car after you were extremely rude to them. I do wish you the best in selling your gowns. I understand and am sorry that you are angry but I sincerely believe that our staff is not the cause of your anger. We pride ourselves on having a great business and a very sweet, caring staff.  

My experience with UC was HORRIBLE! I drove almost 3 hours and was almost turned away due to the girl working the front said they were too busy today. FB page says no appointments necessary and there is also a sign on the door that states no appointments necessary. After I reminded them of this, and the fact that I drove almost 3 hours she finally agreed. She turned away the next lady that walked in. She had only 2 items. Please!!!  So the items I brought in were worth over 4000.00 dollars. I had 5 formal name brand gowns that I paid over 600.00 each for. A brand new Saks purse. 15-20 pairs of all name brand shoes that were never worn or barely worn- Michael KORS, Ugg, Bandalino, Converse and Jessica Simpson to name just a few. The Converse tennis shoes were brand new-never worn. They wouldn’t even take them because they said that the size was a problem. They were a 5 and 1/2. Do they not sell to kids? The Jessica Simpson heels were also brand new and the same size but they wanted them. They didn’t want my like new Ralph Lauren leather coat that I paid 500.00 for. Worn maybe 5 times.
So are you ready for the offer. Wait for it. Wait for it. Wait for it. 200.00. They must have thought that I was stupid or desperate that I would even consider that offer. They must have thought that though because the two girls had already thrown the 600.00 dresses in a bin with the shoes they wanted on top. What they actually are is COMPLETELY DELUSIONAL! What a joke and a complete insult. So needless to say DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR GAS MONEY! The items they do have in the store are waaay overpriced, and for the most part not that nice. TO THE OWNER- The girls you have working there are very snotty and not good for your business. The guy- super sweet and very helpful. HE’S A KEEPER!!!

hello so today I drove almost 3 hours for no point at all!! I go in there and first they tell us that they don’t have time after it says online no appointments and to come in any time. So after they finally take us after having to make internet a point that we drove almost 3 hours they make us stay in store in fact we waited for an hour and a half for them to only offer us 200 DOLLARS!!! For 6  designer dresses one in fact was 800 dollars 4 of the dresses where 600 dollars and  1 was 400 dollars. We had also taken in 2 pairs of coach sun glasses THAT THEY FORGOT ABOUT and we had also brought in about 15 pairs of shoes that where all in great condition multiple pairs of heels that where all name brand and never ever been worn also ugg boots which are super expensive them self then we also had a pair of green converse that they refused to take because they where 5 and a half but took the heels that where? Makes no sense you guys are rude and need to retake a business class or a math class because if you think that stuff was only worth 200 dollars then your like actually dumb besides the guy that was working you need to keep him he’s a good working nice gentleman unlike the other girls

First and foremost, let me apologize. I did a thorough review of the cameras and you are correct that they skipped you. I had a staff meeting with the 3 staff members working during your visit to find out what happened. Please let me attempt to explain; when you checked in at 2:15pm, there were 3 in-store buys ahead of you and our 3rd staff member had just left for her break. The 2 remaining staff worked on sorting and buying those 3 in-store buys.  During this time, a staff member saw you leave the store and changed you to a drop- off since she was under the impression that you had decided to leave. It happens sometimes, people leave and do not tell us. So when a customer came in at 2:45pm, the staff sorted her items before yours because in our software system you had been changed to a drop-off.  It is always our policy to do in-store buys and then start on the drop-offs. In my review of the cameras, the staff did everything else correctly. They checked customers out, checked in sellers, got dressing rooms, and kept their talking to a minimum. The buyers use their phones to send photos of items to me for review and help with pricing, the only time they were on their phones was to communicate with me. We have a very sweet and kind staff and they made a mistake in marking you as a drop-off. Please accept our sincere apologies and $10 in store credit to your account. We will use this as a learning experience - that even when we are very busy, we need to pay closer attention. 

My wife and I came in to sale some of her clothes from the closet. We were told that we must remain in the store in order to be priority. We waited over an hour only to witness their staff skip us not once but twice. When I asked how much longer it would be and why we were skipped in the first place. They denied skipping us even though I witnessed the other two customers before us come into the store and have their clothing sorted and appraised while ours was left untouched.  Will not be returning and will not recommend. The staff on shift today were more focused on their cell phones and gossiping amongst their selves than the customers. I witnessed many people waiting to check out while employees were staring at their phones during my over an hour wait in the store.  I would recommend retraining your employees and holding your manager to a better standard.

I’m sorry we are very picky on the items we buy in and always give you examples of why we pass. Your items were heavily stained and not freshly laundered, so we explained to you why we passed. Our regular shoppers love how very clean and organized we keep our store.

As a small business owner I will defend our store and staff when I read something like this that is completely wrong. I 100% run this business with honesty and fairness. We know what our shoppers are looking for and we can only buy in those items that sell well and are in excellent condition. We actually did purchase 3 of your items but as said before the rest were heavily stained and we explained and showed you this. What is truly sad is your need to attack a family run small business for being honest and having a great store where people love to shop. 

I’ve brought clothes here twice now and it was a waste of time and gas money. They hardly ever take anything and the store itself is pretty disorganized with not a lot of options, especially for guys. Would recommend Plato’s closet instead, they usually buy way more and have a much bigger selection.

EDIT: This is in response to the owners comments about my honest review. Sad to see that the owner or whoever responds to the reviews is not only unprofessional but also a liar. My items were washed the night before I brought them in and I know that I had a few items that were probably stained. I’m not upset that you didn’t take those items, I’m upset that I brought in nearly brand new, plus size, mens’ American eagle shirts and they were passed on. Most of the good reviews also read like they are paid promotions. Again very sad to see that the owner of a “small” business can’t respond in a professional manner.
