About This Store

Architectural Antiques & Design is a 4,000 square foot warehouse and outdoor garden located at 1011 St Andrews Blvd A in Charleston's West Ashley area. The store specializes in unique architectural salvage items and antiques sourced from original Charleston homes.

The indoor warehouse space houses an extensive inventory of antique iron pieces, building salvage materials, cast stone garden ornaments, antique doors (some featuring stained glass), antique fireplace mantels, and rare fire insurance plaques from historic Charleston buildings. Customers rave about finding these one-of-a-kind treasures, like the fire insurance plaques, that add unparalleled character and history to their homes and gardens.

Outside, the over 2/3 acre garden area showcases an impressive collection of antique garden fixtures, decor, and repurposed architectural elements. The outdoor space allows customers to envision how these pieces could enhance their own gardens and landscapes.

Despite its unassuming exterior, the warehouse interior reveals a meticulously curated collection that delights visitors seeking unique, locally-sourced antiques and architectural salvage. The knowledgeable staff, led by owner Jeff, provide expert advice to help customers reimagine and repurpose these historic pieces.

Customers consistently praise the store's mission of preserving Charleston's architectural heritage by reusing materials that might otherwise end up in landfills. They appreciate the opportunity to own a piece of the city's rich history while preventing further waste.

The store's convenient location, just an 8-minute drive from downtown Charleston's famed historic district, makes it an easy stop for visitors exploring the area's renowned attractions like Rainbow Row, the Battery, and the Charleston City Market. West Ashley also offers local dining gems like the iconic Bessinger's Barbeque.

With ample parking in the deep front lot, Architectural Antiques & Design welcomes customers Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm. Whether hunting for statement fireplace mantels, intricate wrought iron pieces, or whimsical garden accents, this unique warehouse is a haven for those seeking to imbue their spaces with Charleston's singular historic charm.

The gentlemen at Architectural Antiques and Design were so nice and helpful! I was looking for a door with stained glass and while they didn’t have what I needed because of Charleston Counties regs on external doors, they pointed me in the right direction and gave me a TON of information and recommendations on what to do to find what I was looking for! Great people and beautiful store. I’ll be back for garden fixtures probably!

It was amazing. I was on a hunt for something in particular that I didn't see while I was there. But boy do I have some more things I think I need now! Thank you for spending so much time with us.

I love coming here every few months to see what's changed. The owners have a great eye for salvaged items, and I admire their mission to promote more reuse of materials. One of my favorite purchases from Architectural Antiques & Design was an antique fire insurance plaque made of plaster that was hanging in their back garden area. We have it hanging on our front porch for the added protection. Great place for treasure hunting :)

They have some really unique and tasteful items here that I haven't seen anywhere else. I also got an excellent bit of advice regarding restoring an antique I didn't buy here. Well worth the trip. Just be sure you don't miss them. Their shop is tucked away in the back between the Fitness Place and Warehouse 61 so don't miss it!
