Found several books I wanted and the prices are great

Sooo many goodies to get from here! They had a large collection of funko pops, anime merch, music, and more.

2nd and Charles is a bookstore specializing in new and gently used books, albums, dvd's, and other media. It is huge and has so many choices. I loved looking at their books.

A great place buy new and old books, games, collectibles, and even instruments. I'm often check for old/new figures and comics. My wife likes turning in books for credit to buy more.
Staff, the two I spoke to, were super nice and check-out guy even put me on to a new anime. Great time had by all.

Listen... they got me. They have such great deals. But I went over to the collectable case. I saw a mario kart 8 deluxe with the case and everything for 29.95$, I felt this is the best deal of a life time. Guess what..... the employee put the wrong sticker on it :/ I got super hype until the manager pulled the game and said "nah that's new, it's 60 bucks" it broke my heart, truly. But it will be ok. Awesome store, great employees, just be sure to double check the sticker price because they get sticker'ed wrong from time to time

The people are always friendly and welcoming. You can also sell things to them you no longer need or want. Just check there website to find what all they take. They have all kinds of need and cool things to buy.

I love 2nd and Charles I visit it everything I'm in Columbia. Love the used books as I can read a book in a day or two. My granddaughter loves our visits. It's a family outing for us. Great selection of new and used books. Conneticut needs a 2nd and Charles.

No matter what you are looking for: book, music, movies/TV shows, or even other items similar, I can almost guarantee that 2nd & Charles will have it. Not only will they have it, but it will be at an extremely reasonable price! I've bought quality books from here that were $1.50. I remember going to one after college and finding the exact reading textbook and workbook from the 1st grade class I'd student taught (okay not the exact teacher's copy, but the same title) and they were less and $10 total! Amazing! Go now!

Wonderful as always! Though I do have to say, I don't care for how much they are pushing regular/high priced merch now. From what I understand, this wasn't meant to be another BAM. But otherwise, book pricing is amazing and the selection is unbeatable for used books.

The experience within this establish was fine indeed, the books there span from but simple children novellas to far more mind expanding novels in human existence to books about topic my mind could not have possibly fathomed before. Would one hundred and twelve percent suggest traversing to such a grand palace of knowledge, and additionally they have a lot of other assortments as well!

Massive inventory of used books as well as movies, music, retro gaming, and some toys. Books are organized by genre and they do their best, but if you're looking for a particular title, be sure to give yourself plenty of time but it's a great place to explore titles you think might be interesting!

Everyone here was so kind. They had a huge selection of everything you can think of, want some books cool, a guitar maybe yup, a old snes game? They got you. Pop figures you know it! I enjoyed my visit, the husband and our nephew also had a good time. Alot of fun to be had and the prices where pretty good.

We have one here in Ohio, but this Columbia SC location is larger with more selections. It seems they have more deals and sales because of it's size. The vinyl selection is great, they also have books, movies, collectables, and more. Side note: did you know because of this group Graham Central Station, we have Journey? Member of this group went on to start the band Journey.

Nice selection of books and toys, it's also the only place I've seen a bin of bulk Lego for sale. We'll be going back next time we are in town.

Very cool place. You’ll find a lot of things from the past. I saw an Atari game and the old NES games. I had my gambit advance on hand to test out the games thankfully. I couldn’t get the game to play.

This is a big store. All genres of games, books and some music. No KPOP which is what my daughter was looking for. Lots of Anime and a ton of POP figurines.

My favorite place to spend time at! They have everything! It's a most of you love books like I Do!!

Great deals and the place is looking so much better. The sales are great love the buy 5 get 5 free. So many children's books and adult books. I highly recommend visiting.

An enormous store. It has DVDs CDs, guitars, board games, comic books and books for sale. When I found out that the D&D books were selling for full price at $49.95, I initially felt jaded, but then I found out that this was for new books. I didn't see any used D&D books, but they did have CDs that were used at a fair price of $4. The amount of stuff that they had was amazing. They also buy stuff, but they only select things in near mint condition. It's a good brick and mortar store.

Great place!! Like a cross between a Books-A-Million and a McKays used books (that we have in TN.) Lots of new books, used books, and fun gifts and collectables. You can't just drop off books to sell, it takes a few hours and they like you to do the process in one day (which is the same as McKays.) I didn't have that much time, so I dumped some decent books in the free bin outside instead.

AWESOME!!! I can't believe I have lived right down the street from this place for 8 months and I just walked in there today!! Great selection of books, novelties, music, and movies. Spent an hour in there and nearly $100. I can't wait until Christmas, I will be back!

They don't sell just books! They have a wide variety of products for everyone and I love their incense products!

Great selection.   Great prices. Great customer service. Greeted three times after walking in the door. Very friendly staff who seem anxious to help a lost person (like myself). And they even have a huge selection of PS2 Games. They open used disks and let you view them at the register before you actually purchase. The only thing I would suggest is that they invest in some Renuzit, or Glade, or perhaps burn some of that incense they sell.  I know it's not their fault, but some of these books emit an odor that smells like grandpa's third day socks.  Perhaps a charcoal HEPA filter in the A/C ventilation?

Huge assortment of books, music and collectables. The book selling was not close to worth it. It took several hours to get the appraisal ready and was literally pennies on the dollar for value. We will not try to sell here again.

Good place to get second hand items as well as new. They have a wide selection like graphic novels, journals, games and records. But of course all subjects of books.

This is a great store for random literary and pop culture stuff.
They have used CDs, but the selection isn't great and there is almost no sorting done. Good luck if you are trying to find something specific. I was looking for a few artists and just ended up frustrated.
They have a decent selection of graphic novels.

This place is still very good. But from the first few visits till the most recent (3 months later), the merchandise on offer has decreased. But there are some very nice throughbacks to old music and gaming. However on those fronts the items are somewhat lacking in comparison to months prior. Even the staff is lacking in professionalism. I am not gonna call anyone out by name but the guy who was ringing people up was so unprofessional in his conduct, his co workers had to call him out and remind him he shouldn't be saying some things due to kids being in store.

Great selection! Great layout. Nice atmosphere. This place would be 5 stars were it not for the condescending responses my daughter and I got from the employee we interacted with when we sold them a few old books. I'd never sold books to a 2nd-hand store before, but the young associate got all bothered that I didn't know how the process worked.

2nd & Charles has a lot of books, mostly fiction, and essentially nothing that I care about. They have a great selection of vinyl, comic books, movies, Christian fiction, toys, and some oddball unexpected things like instruments and collectibles, but nothing that interested me monetarily. It would have been great if the computer section had anything more than the 5 non-technical books they carried, or if the science section was even that big - but hey if these books are all trade-ins, maybe those sections just sell out quick. I love that they had a board game section, but I didn't like the high prices. Overall, it's a nice store for people that aren't like me.

Lowball offers on items they buy and multiple employees wandering around stocking while the registers back up and nobody jumps on to help get the lines down. Take care of the registers when they back up and then go back to very slowly stocking candy plz

Terrible experience at this location. I purchased clearance items that were buy one get one free. I noticed that I did not receive the advertised deal after leaving the store and reviewing the receipt. The next day I returned all purchased items. I received a full refund. I have received this experience at more than one 2nd and Charles location. I will not shop at any 2nd and Charles after this terrible experience. I do not recommend shopping at any 2nd and Charles location.

Pricey , some of the staff members are rude and nasty...And not a good selection of manga or figures...

The bathroom is a biohazard every time I've been here, unusable. Actually terrifying. Like... im not jaded about how little they give for your books.

THEY ARE SCAMMERS!! I went to sell a bunch of my kpop albums, and books (manga). That stuff was probably worth over $200 yet they ONLY gave me $12 for ALL OF IT!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND SELLING YOUR STUFF HERE!!! They also gave me the option for $20 in store credit (i can only use it in the store) which is dumb because $20 in credit but only $12 in cash??? Other than that, the store is nice. However, I know that they will be selling my things for like $15 each. I wish I could’ve kept my stuff but it did not process in my head until after. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Sell online or donate. DO NOT SELL YOUR STUFF HERE!!!!!

I understand they need to make money but was insulted by the offer…Cash offer was LESS than 10% of retail cost of modern board games (wingspan for example) and they sell for 5 to 6 times that in this store

Took a few hours to receive the offer so I had to make two trips, which cost me more in gas than what they offered.

I took a bin of about 50 books in on a Friday while I was in town headed to the low country. They told me it would be about 3-4 hour wait, that I could leave and come back when I come back through there after the holiday weekend. But chat I could only get store credit. I was okay with that as I’m a teacher moving grade levels, so I could use the credit from my kinder books to get 3rd grade books. I thought that I would at least get $20-30 dollars for 50 books, that’s not unreasonable, so I look around and put some books on hold for when I came back. When I got there the following Monday, I only got $12.05. That barely covered the books I had picked out for holdings. I was told that “they had an abundance of children’s books and didn’t need more.” I knew they had a recycling program so there was no chance I was getting the ones they didn’t keep back. It’s a bad way of doing business. They probably put the books through recycling, get paid to do that, but don’t consider giving those people their share of that recycling program.

As a teacher I would not recommend. You are better off selling on Marketplace or through a teacher Facebook group then coming here. I’m just glad I only did 1 bin out of 3.

We were finally able to get there over the weekend, it's an hour and 15 minute drive from where we live, & we had a ton of books, 4 bins total. When we first arrived, we spoke to a guy named Aaron, he was very nice and helpful. He said for us to bring the books in and he will look at them individually and let us know if he's interested in buying any of them. My husband went out and retrieved all 4 bins and brought them in. As soon as we came back to the buy/sell counter, there was a lady standing there named Alice. From the beginning, we could tell she wasn't happy about all the books we brought. Before looking at ANY of the books, she told us that she probably couldn't help us. In my opinion, that was pretty rude. We felt like she just didn't want to take the time to look at them since we had so many. She proceeded to look at a couple books that were on top of one of our bins, she then said that it looks like we might have bugs because the books were "nasty." Of course they are dusty and not in the best shape, these were in my husband's grandma's library and she's been gone for quite some time now. That wasn't a very nice thing to say and I think she could've used nicer words. She kept saying over and over that she couldn't help us. My husband then asked her if she could just look through the rest of the bins just to make sure. She said "okay" with an attitude and said the only books she'll take are sci-fi books. She then went and retrieved some gloves and as she was sifting through the books in 1 bin, she kept acting like they were infected with some kind of disease. It made us feel bad, honestly. She stopped looking after 1 bin (she only looked through half of it) and just stood there with an annoyed facial expression. After my husband finished showing her all the books through all 4 bins, she ended up taking 4 books and offered us $1.95 cash or $3.48 store credit. We then asked if we could just donate them and she said no she didn't want them. I refused the store credit because why in the world would I want to purchase something from your store after being treated that way? We understand that the books were old and she probably really couldn't have taken in most of them. What we don't understand is why she was so rude to us? We felt like we were a burden and that we were dumb for even trying to sell books there. I will never again step foot in your store and I've already told a few people they might want to go elsewhere if trying to sell books there, & definitely dont deal with Alice. If she had been nice and helpful but still only took 4 books, I wouldn't be writing this review. She was very rude and unprofessional.
