Best bookshop I've been to, great selection of textbooks for me and lots of good fantasy for the girlfriend, plus some very cool collectibles

I could spend hours in here! Huge store that's musician, book and nerd paradise! Books, comic books, bags, shirts, vinyl, instruments, knickknacks... And with so many different themes of stuff. Disney, Star wars, Harry Potter, you name it. And the prices are amazing!! Staff is also always nice.

I love this store! They have a great selection of used and new books, comics, figures, movies, records, and more. All the things I love! Their prices are fair, and their employees are friendly. Thanks for the pleasant experiences!

Cool place for new and 2nd hand books, movies, music, and games. Tons of selection, it's a very large store packed full of goodies. Worth a stop if you enjoy any of the above!

Friendly staff and an amazing selection! I would love to get lost here for hours. Lots of stuff for kids, but trying to browse with an energetic three year old isn't recommended.

I love the layout of the store. They have books, memorabilia and vinyl. I visited for the first time a few days ago.

we absolutely love this place, if you are not familiar with them, please please check it out you will not be disappointed. i wish we could rent or they would host after hour or overnight parties for like birthdays and what not. all the nostalgic video games and music you can think of, plus the greatest selection of books. if you're having a hard time finding gifts for any occasion you'll have no problem finding it here

I could walk around this place for hours.
I love all the mushroom items they currently have in there. I bought a cookbook that's funky, and I saw some Studio Ghibli ones in there as well. There's a little bit of everything in there for anyone. Even the little kids. Big kids. Music lovers and gamers.

Really awesome place where I can see old games of my childhood. They have a lot here from new to old, definitely a place worth checking out.

I LOVE a good bookstore! Who doesn't love buying books at a discount? This is a favourite when I get to that end of the city.  I've got a lot of books here.  They are choosy about what they accept used so you're not getting damaged books.  Most of the books are in near perfect condition.  They will even take books in on trade. This is Books-A-Million allied 2nd hand store.

This store has proven time and time again that there's something for everyone.  Moms, nerds, creepy friends, and anyone with a proper sense of humor. As an avid reader and lover of games, shopping in this store feels like I am among my people. I come back time and time again, knowing I'll find the perfect gift for almost an occasion! Tons of space filled with books, collectibles, comics, movies, etc. Carries a pretty sizable collection of enthusiast boardgames. Reasonable pricing on used stuff, not so much on new.

New and used books, games, records, dvds, cds, musical instruments, comics, toys, collectibles, trinkets. This place has literally everything. You can buy, sell or trade things here and I added a photo of how that works. The prices are reasonable and they have cheap things and expensive items so there is something for every price range. Great place to buy gifts and the employees are nice. Watch yourself on the way out, the toys and trinkets that line the checkout always get me! This place is awesome. Some notable themes are DnD, harry potter,  avatar, marvel, DC, anime, spooky, the classics, book tok, crystals, and a lot more!

This was my first time visiting a 2nd & Charles and it was a great experience. They have an incredible assortment of books, both new and used. I was able to find two used copies of a series I cannot find in any of the libraries I’m a patron of. The prices of these books, along with the 10% off coupon, were cheaper than I could find for online. They have more than books- POP figures, pop culture merchandise, magnets, shirts, and much more. I was very pleased with my purchase!

Great selection of not only books but movies and music with very unique collectibles. Humorous items and the nicest employees. They have used books as low as a dollar and rare pieces. We killed an entire afternoon there!

Great cheaper deals occur at anytime. I love this place! Wish they had a 2nd and Charles store everywhere and in Pennsylvania.

It's not a bad store, took my uncle since he was out of state, to this store and he was amazed, he ran into a book for one of his dental staff and he loved it.

I use to be a frequent usual, I go occasionally, this time I went in, pretty much, everything was slowly back to normal, however, they had way more stuff.

They had movies way filled up in each movie section, way abnormal. Not that they keep a low inventory of movies and stuff. But they had decent titles. Some hard to find movies too.

I've found some amazing finds and some unique treasures in that bin! You never know what they will fill it with! Great selection of kids books. The entire building is very large! One could get lost for hours simply looking at everything this store has to offer. Go down memory lane and look at old-school Super Nintendos, Game Boys, and other gaming operating systems. So many different genres of books, movies and music to choose from! You can keep coming back, and every visit will be a fun and a unique experience. Overpriced and starting more and more to get and sell brand new books at or above market price which isn’t the best for a second hand store.. but a wide selection and most books are cheaper unless you’re looking for new and popular books! Lots of knickknacks and music as well.

This place is great but it is hard to get employess to help you. They do not make eye contact and always walk away. I know this place draws in a certain type of crowd but the manager should host a customer service workshop so they know how to interact with the public.

A haven for collectors, this store offers a wide range of new and used items, including video games, toys, clothing, vinyl records, and books. The layout is a bit chaotic, with some areas feeling cramped and others empty. Sections like comics and sci-fi are poorly organized, making it tough to navigate. Pricing is inconsistent, and the vinyl section is both overpriced and disorganized which usually makes me avoid it altogether. Still, it's a fun spot to browse on weekends, with occasional hidden gems and rare finds.

Love this place. I come here often to look for books on my ever growing TBR. They price their used items at a very fair price. Some books are as low as 3$ My only "complaint" (and it's not really that big of a deal) is that sometimes it's extremely hard to find some items. They seem to organize by author name but it's not always a perfect system. But that could be because of the sheer volume of books they have.

Good prices on used games. Lots of selection. Unfair buy-back offer, but I know they carry a risk that items won't sell. They had one of the same items for sale used on the shelf for $65, and our offer was for less than $10, for an item opened one time and still in like-new shape. I won't try to sell there again, but otherwise always enjoy the store.

This place has literally EVERYTHING, from funkos, to movies, vinyls and video games, as well as books, Mangas, ads, cassettes like I said everything! They also have program where u can trade in your items for store credit/money they will appraise them and give u offer on your items. Definitely a great place to shop if into collecting anything especially classic items!

So, with any used bookstore, it's hit or miss, and this isn't any different.  I love bookstores, and this one is a favorite of mine when we do stuff in the east end.
This visit was unusual as it was harder than normal to find staff to help.  The second thing I noticed was the store felt more disorganized than it has in the past.
It's still a bookstore,  the prices are reasonable and I'll be back in the future to find some treasures.
(I'm old school, and I still love a real book.  Kindle doesn't have the sensory experience that I enjoy about reading). Make sure you set aside time as this store is large.

My family and I still like going in and looking around at stuff, but we rarely buy anything now because of the mark-ups!
There's been books that were almost half the price down the street several times (prompting us going back to 2nd& Charles for a refund). They just have most  things priced way to high now.
For example, I was going to get a Cheshire Cat pop they had at the store. I have learned to check about a ballpark figure online before buying pops from anywhere now...
Anyway it goes for between $7-$12 online. When I got to the register it was $14.98 with my 10% off coupon! I politely declined.
It's a shame, because the staff is always super friendly and there have been some interesting things purchased there over the years.

It was one of the most unorganized dvd selections I've seen. The store wasn't busy, yet they were struggling to get people checked out. One of the employees was walking around the store sneezing, putting away dvds. Just not professional at all. We got a few dvds and probably would have gotten more if you could find anything. It's a big store, but it lacks because of the lack of care.

Two stars for coming twice and they failed me both times. This is the most unorganized building I have ever been to. The first time I called and they said they had 11 copies of the book I wanted. I show up and they tell me they have none. I'm looking and looking and I find one used copy and take it to the front and they said, "oh, we didn't know we had that." I found a book in their own store they couldn't find. This was week's ago. We'll I came just to find a new genre to read. I'm asking about a single author and the man tells me they dont have it alphabetically, and I had to go through multiple isles to find any of her books. I found one of her books in the G isle, her last name starts with an H. This was like an Easter egg hunt that wasn't wanted. What is the point in having lettered isles for the authors if none of them are in order or even in that letter section (last name letters of authors). Apparently they considered historical fiction in fiction with all other genres. This place stresses me out and I was ready to leave. I won't be back. Even the workers look lost. So unprofessional. What a waste of my time.

The have a good selection of DVDs but they plaster EVERYTHING in stickers and tape, and not the kind that comes off easilly. Pulling the tape off ruins whatever you get there, and now my 7th season of the simpsons has a nasty white rip in the spine.

Cool place to window shop, but don't buy anything and don't trade anything in. Their prices are almost Barnes & Noble prices, which is laughable for used stuff. And they offer literal pennies for high quality or straight up new items. Suuuuper disappointed, honestly. Window shop, then go online and find the item cheaper in better condition elsewhere

All 2nd & Charles are not created equally. At first I was excited to see how big thid one was compared to my local one (VA). But then realized the extra isles were all religion. Like, multiple spins on religion.
There wasn't even a dedicated adult math, science, and physics section. I found one adult math book in the whole place.
It just might as well be a religious bookstore with some fiction thrown in.
That's fine if that's your thing, but if you're used to a more robust selection, this is going to be a waste of time.
Also, the bathrooms were grody.

When I first discovered what 2nd & Charles was, I was beyond thrilled. However, my past couple of visits have been nothing but a huge disappointment.

The Buy-Back staff are my main concern. For a company who thrives and needs buy backs, why would you not have a better staff to run it? The past two times I’ve been the people have been rude, short, curt, and have no interest in good customer service. I live in Spartanburg, so to get to the store and be rudely “greeted” and being told my wait time would be over three hours was a HUGE waist of time. 45 minutes one way is the commute and after being treated that poorly, I walked out with my books and purchased nothing that day.

The pricing for things is also low. I understand the company has to make something off of what you bring in, but when you bring in a practically new Loungefly bag and they offer you $20 for it to then turn around and sell it for $70 the following week? Seriously?! I learned that lesson the hard way…

I say all of this to say, if you want to just shop at a used book store, sure, check this place out, just don’t expect prices to actually be all that low and the staff is rarely friendly.

I was very excited to go visit the store once I found out that they had a book that I was looking for.When I arrive to the store I went to the section that the cashier had  told me that the book would be located. Unfortunately I found other books by the same author but not the book that I was looking for. I asked an employee who was not doing anything. He was very dismissive and was saying he had to go up front. There were not many people in the store so not sure why he had to go up front since there was a cashier on duty. Once I left the store I called to speak to the supervisor. The lady that answered said she was a supervisor which I do not believe. Her name was Lee. Apologize but did not sound sincere. I would rather pay full price than purchase anything from this store.

I recently visited 2nd & Charles to sell some of my anime figurines, hoping to downsize my collection to help cover medical expenses. I brought in about $400 worth of authentic figures from Japan, expecting at least a reasonable offer. After waiting around 30 minutes, I was given $45 in cash or $80 in store credit.

The offer was disappointingly low, especially considering the rarity and condition of the figures. What made the experience worse was the lackluster customer service at the selling counter. The staff member handling my transaction was impersonal, avoided eye contact, and barely explained anything. It felt like they just wanted me gone. They seemed overworked and uninterested, which made the entire process feel dismissive.

It wasn't even worth the gas money or time spent getting there. I ended up door dashing afterward, making only $15 for the day towards my surgery due to the loss of daytime hours.

On top of everything, I won't be returning to this location to either sell or buy. The store has a lot of items, but it's incredibly dusty, and the air quality triggered my allergies for several hours.

The other staff were fine, but if you're looking to sell collectibles, be prepared for lowball offers, poor service, and uncomfortable shopping conditions. You might be better off selling online or to a dedicated collector.

Book trade-ins are incredibly low.  Stick with Mr. K's Used Books on Verdae Blvd.   The trade in credit (or cash if you prefer) for your books will be at least 3 times what this place offers.

super overpriced for second hand books, movies, and music... there's nothing in clearance ever and they have movies priced and dated from 2015! they keep the tags they were originally bought for, and then double that! you're better off going down the street to mr kay's for good, reasonably priced medias.

I'm very displeased with this place! Tony was quite rude,sold me an xboxone, and a controller that had no back. When I called, he wasn't helpful at all. Having to wait till Monday to talk to a manager. All I asked was to have it replaced.

I went to sell some books here. I had two totes of really nice books. They wouldn't even take half of them and I have no idea why. They offered me three dollars for what they did want.  Staff was really rude.  Total waste of my time. I love shopping here but won't be after this.

Let me start by saying I LOVE this store but we went tonight and I guess the "night manager" made an announcement at 720 that they close at 8 and they are tired and want to go home . That was very unprofessional and after words heard several customers say they will not be coming back not to mention the bathrooms were a disaster as there was no toilet paper to be found ...... I doubt this will ever be read and im sure they could care less but the way they were acting especially the "manager". I get that you have to make the announcement but the rudeness in which it was done was no good ..... do better!!!!!

Buy-backs aren't worth it. They'll offer to buy your items back for crazy little amounts to sell it back on their floor for an over exaggerated price to make as much profit as they can. They have too many employees walking around and shopping to where we have to wait on them in line.

They do have unique items but its expensive for most things. Best to just go to Barnes and Noble.

I do not recommend taking anything here to get cash back. I brought in around 20 books in great condition that are fairly new and trending titles. They offered $10 cash or $19 store credit. That’s barely even $1 per book, yet they will turn it around and resell for upwards of $5-10 if not more.
In addition, it appears that they do not accurately tag their items. There were multiple books that didn’t have prices on them. I assumed I was buying them used but once they were rung up, they came in at $20 or more.
I wish I had told the person at the cash back desk that I wanted my books back to take elsewhere, and I wish I had not bought any books from their store. Alas, I will not make the same mistake since I don’t plan on returning! I will continue to support my local used bookstores and the library instead.
