Junk N Treasures: A Unique Thrift Store Experience in Spartanburg, South Carolina
Nestled in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Junk N Treasures is a one-of-a-kind thrift store that defies the typical dimly-lit, disorganized thrift shop experience. This shop features lots of fluorescent lighting, along with organized shelves and areas - a refreshing contrast to the cluttered environments often associated with secondhand stores.
The owner, Denise Elston, opened Junk N Treasures in 2010 with the goal of creating the type of thrift store she would enjoy shopping in herself, with a focus on cleanliness, organization, and an easy-to-browse layout. "I've always hated going into stinky dirty thrift stores where you can't see anything or where the 'treasures' are hidden under so much junk you'll never find them," Elston explains. Customers have taken notice of Elston's commitment to providing a welcoming shopping experience, with one reviewer noting, "The store is very welcoming and we couldn't agree more with the 'no mask, no exceptions' sign."
The inventory at Junk N Treasures is diverse and ever-changing, with a focus on vintage clothing, furniture, kitchen wares, and appliances. Shoppers have stumbled upon unique finds like a complete fireplace, with mantle, insert and gas logs, and a South Pacific style bar. One reviewer was particularly enamored with a lovely mannequin with long black hair and dressed in a wedding dress that greets customers as they enter the store, though this particular item is not for sale.
In addition to its impressive selection of merchandise, Junk N Treasures is known for its exceptional customer service. Reviewers consistently praise the amazing and friendly staff, with one customer describing the owner, Denise Elston, as "one of the nicest person we've met so far." Elston takes pride in getting to know her customers and helping them find the perfect "special find," as she says, "I never know what people will be looking for, and I love seeing the look on their faces when I tell them that I do have that special find for them."
Beyond its role as a unique thrift store, Junk N Treasures also offers a "moving management" service, where Elston will visit customers' homes, help them downsize, and purchase any items they wish to sell. This personalized service has been well-received by the community, with one reviewer noting, "She'll offer you a reasonable price for the things you want to get rid of, and then she'll set a date to come pick them up."
Overall, Junk N Treasures stands out as a refreshing and welcoming thrift store experience in Spartanburg, South Carolina, thanks to its owner's commitment to cleanliness, organization, and exceptional customer service. As one reviewer aptly summarized, "This was a lovely place to stop and pass the time."

On our way to Tennessee we found this adorable hole in the wall! We love searching for antiques and this place had the nicest furniture and cutest little knick knacks we’ve seen in a while. The owner was there and we had a chat, she was one of the nicest person we’ve met so far! The store is very welcoming and we couldn't agree more with the “no mask, no exceptions” sign. The prices were very reasonable (considering everything found in fl is extremely over priced). All in all this was a lovely place to stop and pass the time, we didn't find anything we could bring home but she did suggest another store down the road which was awfully nice of her!! Will definitely be back next time we’re in town!!

Stopped in here on a whim and am so glad I did! The store is stocked with a bunch of awesome finds. The owner is extremely nice and I love supporting local businesses. I’ve been working on a sewing project and knew it needed something else, but couldn’t pin point what exactly. Luckily, I stopped in and found the perfect table runner to use to finish it up!

My boyfriend John and I went coming from pa. The owner denise was super friendly and outgoing. This store was a good find and I enjoyed seeing the different types of things that she had in the store. I definitely would go see this and hopefully one day be back. -Jodi-

My daughter and I visited this store today for the first time. The sweet lady working helped me find exactly what I was looking for! She also gave my 4 year old daughter a snack for being so well behaved. I loved this since so many antique stores frown upon children visiting with their parents. We can’t wait to visit again!!

This place was super cool, great atmosphere, and amazing help. I regrettably forgot the nice lady’s name that helped me, but she willing helped us get the tapestry we wanted off the wall, which was a task. Very hospitable and decent prices as well.
