This place has everything... and I mean EVERYTHING for the nerd(s) or hobbyists  in your life. The workers are always super helpful and the bookshelves are always stocked, and you can always find some rare goodies of things marked down or being resold. I myself found some amazing finds!

Great for affordable manga, books and movies! And a great selection of kids books!

Love this place, only down fall is you have to watch what you buy because a majority of the place sells books retail price.  You have to watch the back of the books for an orange label for used book prices.

Food and service was phenomenal! Would definitely recommend! Love their beef taco salad with ALL the toppings.

They answer the phone.  They are kind and helpful.  They go out of their way to serve.  Try here first when you need books and stuff.

This place is so diferente, I love it.... Loooots of books, it's massive. You can find usted books for a decent price and lots of different tarot versions. It is worth visiting.

Really cool place, That's pretty much everything you need or want. Almost overwhelming, from books new and used, to comics, to video games and Lego even. Board games and such also quenches your musical needs as well with vinyl and plenty of CDs. Plan on going back whenever I come visit my brother again.

This place has pretty much everything nerd wise you can think of and more. The video game section could prolly be organized a bit better, but still glad to see the classics.

I enjoyed going in for the first time! Had a wide variety of items and board games as well as a fully stocked clearance section! The whole store was well organized and had specific displays throughout the store to help you find what you were looking for. All employees were working hard to keep a clean atmosphere.

To an avid reader it's like a kid in a candy store they have everything from manga to romance historical to fantasy, and not to mention comics and vinyl records plushies and journals. Definitely worth a walk through they have something for everyone.

I love this place. First time visiting and will be back. They have so many great books for cheap! A small business coffee shop would be a perfect addition.

We drive all the way across town to shop here, and it's always worth it. Absolutely love all the cool selections for sale, and the LEGO table can keep the entire family occupied for hours! Wildly varying prices that are often way off base, but there are always good deals to be found.

This has to be the most creative book store I’ve even been to!! I can spend hours here easily! They have more than just books! They have tons of very cool gadgets, toys, books, pictures, mugs, guitars, video games, stuffed animals and unique snacks. Go and find something new or used and have a good time!

I actually picked up a used CD that I thought I'd never find and there it was used and at a great price. A great selection of used movies and books, I could definitely file for bankruptcy in this place. So much to see and look through. Very cool!

The fact that they buy stuff also makes this an extra bonus. If you have any old books or toys, definitely think about turning them in here and maybe getting some cash back. It's better than nothing and it helps the store. A win win for sure. Would recommend and I definitely will return!

Very cool store to shop in, very friendly staff. They are good with processing returns. They don't haggle on prices because they can't. But I really enjoy shopping here. A lot of very cool products to look at. They have books, cds, comics, guitars, video games, video game consoles, video game accessories, D&D dice sets, backpacks, hats, and other cool gifts. Check it out if you're looking for a good deal!

Incredible selection of Funko, nice vinyl section, loads of various comics... Great place to go browse and see what strikes your fancy. Cool new little section of "blind date with a book" options. Bring a reusable bag though - we bought an armload of stuff both times we've been here and didn't get offered bags either time which is kind of a pain when juggling multiple books and figurines.

A fantastic store that sells used and new books, some signed by the author. They have trade paperback comics, a large children's section, a vast amount of pop culture memorabilia games. Some of the things I personally perused were a large selection of pops, a lot of popular non big box store board games, and a large selection of records

Really overpriced, but I love it anyway. I don’t have many bookstores close by so this helps me calm my inner and outer nerd. Way more than just books. Lots of music and a huge kids section. Old gaming systems to Pokémon cards you name it they probably have it. Awesome horror section which is my favorite. Plus it is clean and quiet. Do yourself a favor and don’t sign up for the stupid magazine subscription. Thanks and bye!

This is my absolute favorite place to take the kids when we are just trying to chill and not get into too many activities. The store is large enough to find almost anything you like, but it's small and comfortable enough for me to let my kids walk around and shop for books while I look in my section. It's also organized well enough that they are able to walk around and find their own items without much help. (They are 9 and 12) Staff is very helpful and answers any questions without complaints. I have never seen the place dirty or anything even in the floor. They sell comics, gaming accessories, posters, socks and coffee cups, crystals and tarot cards, books of course, novelty items, toys, and more! Prices on toys are a little steep and obviously newer books are priced at their highest, but throughout the store you can find books starting around just $2.50. I've also been told by someone who works there that if a book isn't available or sold in their store, they will order it for you and call you when it's been delivered and available for purchase in their store. All around good place. We LOVE it 💕

**Edited to add that I saw some people complaining about how the books are not in alphabetical order or separated by genre. They are most definitely separated by genre and in alphabetical order but only to an extent! They reorganize them and put them back in order to the best of their abilities but when shoppers are consistently picking books up and putting them down any old place, it tends to get that way! This is not the store's problem, this is a customer problem. Books do get unorganized at times but they also get put back eventually. If you have an experience with unorganized books, maybe your second experience will be after they have reorganized.

One of my favorite places! They have such a great variety and I always find things I want. They even have a free bin out front where people can put books for others to enjoy. Love the Harry Potter merchandise selection!

Great place to find books of all kinds but they also have a great selection of other quirky and hard to find things like games of all types, POPs, records, guitars, novelty items, etc. Cool store just to look around, never know what you'll find; you may go in for a book and come out with a Bob Ross Monopoly board game!

Very cool place, especially for geeks and nerds! They have tons of used books in great condition. You can also find video games, comics, collectibles, guitars, and niche stuff like Harry Potter candy. We needed a base for Disney Infinity, and I didn't want to resort to eBay. 2nd & Charles had one for a great price! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend giving them a visit!

So much selection at such an amazing prices! This is honestly my favorite store. I also love the Free Bin out front, you can find some really interesting books in there. They also have a large Rare Book selection for collectors.

First time coming here, pretty cool place. It is definitely more than just a used book store! Electronics and toys, books, music, even a Lounge type gaming area. I recommend this place!

The clerks are good to help direct you to the area of the store where you might find what you're looking for. Found 2 gift books recently, used and good condition.

I find really good deals here and they have a huge selection of used books. The only downside is sometimes new books are mixed in and you end up paying full price without realizing

They have really awsome items however it seemed over priced to me. Esp since I previously sold them close to 4,000 pokemon cards all in perfect condition kept in a 2" binder with 8"x11" baseball card protector sheets each sheet held 18 cards and i only recieved $90 cash or $119 store credit then weeks later sold them a trunk full of books  equalling 6 waist high stacks of books on their lil cart and only got $19.25 cash for them i don't even remember the store credit they offered. However they don't force ppl to sell anything and all of the employees who work there have always been extremly nice and helpful. I just wish places who offered to buy second hand things would do so in a way to make it worth while for the customer so they at least feel as if they got something in return vs being offered so little they feel as if they are being told their stuff is worthless even though they know it's not i realize they have to make money in return and coukd take a long time so I understand offers will be low however I'm pretty sure they could make much better offers if they chose to be more customer friendly and purchased things with intentions of helping out the seller vs just intentions of making a 85%-95% profit by paying .25-.50 for a book and reselling it for $10-$20 or paying .01-.05 for each pokemon cards and reselling several of them for $15 or more.

Decent store to give in old books or games for store credits. Recommend coming here on their sale days. Or penny by the page sale. I've gotten some pretty awesome books for dollars.

this place is so cool! my only complaint is the pricing is hard to figure out in some cases and it gives me ridiculous anxiety at the register. makes me want to put things back if I’m unsure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but otherwise i could spend hours in this place it’s awesome

For people who have never shopped here it can be confusing as to what books are newer and full priced vs the used lower priced books. Iv been asked by several customers while shopping myself how to figure out if the books are new or used and how to tell what the pricing is on the newer books. Otherwise this is a fun store and my entire family loves shopping here from kids to adults.

Great store! I love the selection of inexpensive used books, games, music, movies, and gifts.  They also seem to give pretty fair prices when you trade things in.

The only reason they're 4 stars and not 5 stars is that they have that section of total trash related to witchcraft. If they remove that garbage from their stores, I think they will do better overall as a business! :)

I like coming here for the books and my husband  loves looking for new CDs.
The kids area does need to be gone through  and fixed up, it's not organized 😑.  But all and all I enjoy coming here.

2nd & Charles seems to have something for everyone. I have sold gently Used CD's here a couple of times. The staff has always been friendly and professional. Their buyback offers are way better than online buyers.

I’m way to in love with movies to ever go in there! In the past two months I’ve probably walked out with 50 movies, not exaggerating. When they did the buy 5 get 5 I got 25, 5 where .50 - $1 and I didn’t want them to be the free ones. Great friendly atmosphere and a lot of cool new or use stuff. Some a little to high for me, but there is enough cheaper things for me to buy. 4 stars just because a lot of there stuff is mixed up, understandable seeing as how many people and new stuff comes in daily. Would still hope for better though.

This store would get 2 stars if it weren’t for the kind workers. What they offer for books when buying them from you is purely robbery. I brought in 3 massive boxes of books - popular novels and children’s books. And they loved my selection. How do I know? They took every single book I brought in. Yet they only offered $25. It’s robbery, and downright offensive. I get they have to make a profit, but the math just ain’t mathing. And they’re literally owned by Books-a-Million, so it’s not like they’re a local store struggling for money. Just sell on Facebook marketplace. Dumb.

The building itself is nice, the staff are also nice. There are many items both new and second hand and a good variety. I'm taking stars off for prices. First, the prices are higher across the board than what I've seen at other second hand shops, and even for the new items, the prices are higher for those than other comparable locations. Second, there were several places of items (mainly toy-type items) where there were no price tags. I would say to go into this store mentally pretending that it's a regular retail store and not a second hand store but then again, it's still higher than retail a lot of the time.

It’s a cool store and i enjoy browsing the different sections but i have to complain about the absolute joke that the buy back program is. I sent in about 7 books, half of which were non fiction hard covers, and one which was a 2022 fiction hardcover release by a popular author. The options they gave me were about $3 and some change for cash and $5.90 in store credit. I’ll stick to media sales on depop from now on. That’s just about robbery.

Okay, this rating is purely to do with them buying your books. The staff was helpful, and the store was tidy. But do not ever ever ever sell them your books cause whatever low price you're thinking, it's not low enough. I brought in 10 older, like new hardcover books. They averaged $20 each, so that'd be $200. Well, obviously, I wasn't gonna get that, so 50% that would be $100. Again, I knew I wasn't gonna get that, so I lowballed it at $20 for all ten. That would have been $2 each, 90% off the original prices. They gave me $5 for everything. That's .50 each & you know they're not going to sell them at .50, so I feel cheated, but I needed the money for bills. Again, I have friends who love going there to buy. Just don't ever sell them your stuff. I didn't have the time to wait for someone to buy them from me on FB, but if you do, then sell them there instead.

Came in today for penny a page book sale and had my first bad experience at this store. We spoke to three employees and they all had different answers on how to tell a book is "used". One said if it has any sticker on it, one said a sticker in a certain spot, and one claimed it was only certain stickers. Was looking for a solid answer before standing in a long line, but couldn't get one.

Buyback program offers 15%-20% of the actual item value if you want cash. They offer 30% of item value if you get store credit. This applies to video games, musical items, cards, collectibles and books (They are currently not taking DVDs).  After looking at the prices at the store, they are more expensive then any other retail store for new items. If you want used items, any online market like ebay or amazon is cheaper and has a return policy.  If you have too much money to spend or don't mind extreme lowball offers this is your place.  This was my experience when I visited on 5/8/24. I usually love places like this... how disappointing.

Normally I only do restaurant reviews, but I had to post something here because of how absurd the buyback program is at this chain.

I wanted to mention first that I like this place. There's great games, lots of books, and plenty of great merchandise. I thought it would be a good idea to try and sell a bunch of books that I had and get some money back.

I brought a ton of books. I brought 3 large boxes full of them. After they sorted through them, I filled 4 totes full. I figured that, considering many of them were in good shape, I'd get maybe $100, closer to $150 if I was lucky. The cash offer they gave me was just under $15.

As many other reviewers have stated on here, it's not even worth the gas to drive down there. It's absurd how little they pay. It's not the employees fault because it's 2nd and Charles process. Honestly, I'm going to pick up my books tomorrow and donate them to a local small library. Any company who values their sellers that low don't deserve it.

Super disappointing experience at 2nd & Charles - I hope they can make it. Took about 40 books, some really great to exchange for cash or store credit, got $3.58 cash or $7.85 credit 😬 I should also mention I sell books on Amazon and at McKays in Chattanooga and have never had such a low exchange ever. I knew the value of those books before taking them.

The book transfer process was also a bit complicated, a 3-bin allotment would take 3-4 hours and could only be atttended to by the donor and had to be picked up before closing at 7:00 pm

Also, their disorganization of the store is Uber frustrating, aisles are in alphabetical order, not subject or genre so you better know the author you are looking for, Koontz was in the same aisle as King and mixed up all between.

The staff also seemed a bit stressed out. I have had wonderful experiences at McKays in Chattanooga my suggestion would be to have someone visit to see their efficiency, busy busy store and really fair exchange for your books. My guess is they are making a ton of money on the other items from Pokémon and notepads, travel pillows and the donated books are the least. Quite a bummer bc I think Huntsville would really benefit from this store if it were better managed.

The buy back section does not buy back if ur bringing in bulk completely wasted my time.

omgggg. i usually love coming here! it is actually a safe space of mine to go shop! i had my first terribleeeee interaction with an employee today :’) i had walked in with a friend , and it was raining so i had an umbrella, and i had walked up to the desk to ask someone if i could put my umbrella somewhere up near them so i could shop and not hold the wet umbrella ( why would anyone want to hold a wet umbrella while shopping…. ) & i have worked at manyyy retail places / stores and have never had a problem with accommodating a guest / being helpful when it it’s literally just about an UMBRELLA… don’t know her name but she had blue hair. was so so rude and visibly angry that i dared to ask her a question… & i’m so nice too :’) lolol i was smiling and in a friendly tone.. she says with a straight annoyed face “We use this counter.” i still say smiling, “ Oh…! well thats ok, it doesnt have to be like right here, just anywhere up here where i dont have to hold onto it!” as there is sooo much space.. she says “You can put it over there.” and i looked over to where this ledge was right by the door where you come in … i wanted it to be near employees rather than near where anyone could take it, and i let her know, and all she said was “ People don’t usually do that, so…” and she just kept a straight face the whole time and i was just like.. “oh okay then!… “ and i walked away to my friend and we definitelyyy talked about her , how she was a mean girl, and how she should NOT be working in customer service… big yikes! i love this store and the other employee who ended up checking me out was very nice ! i believe once the negative atmosphere is gone, i will be able to shop here once again / show more friends the store! i had already introduced soo many people to this store. really does not seem the best thing to do right now if there is a very hostile and bitter employee! i hope it gets settled and i can return happily shopping! really don’t wanna have to drive super far for another one !

Trade in values and cash offers are a complete joke. The way they advertise their prices is nothing like how it actually is…I brought in an Atari and some decently sought after books in pristine condition and I was offered $4 cash and $7 store credit. The trade in and cash values I was offered were so low I found it offensive. Will never go to this store again. It took three hours of waiting just to be offered some bogus prices. Very disappointing.

Brought 3 baskets worth of trade ins. Waited half a day to hear back about my offer. When I arrived they told me that they could not take anything because one book had some mold from old water damage on the pages. They made me load my items back up and leave. Would not recommend. Next time, don’t spend half a day going through someone’s items just to turn down the whole trade because of light mold on one item.
