The Palmetto Thrift Store in Chapin, South Carolina has undergone a transformation, according to customer reviews. Previously just a standard thrift store, the new owners have elevated the shopping experience to feel more like a "boutique shop."
As one reviewer, Brian Green, describes, the store is "so nice and full with great furniture" and "feels more like a boutique shop than just a thrift store." He also notes that the store is "so clean" and now has "actual dressing rooms" for trying on clothes, rather than just the bathroom.
Another customer, Bob Nichols, echoes these sentiments, observing the "neat, clean, and well lit" environment with "a nice assortment of clothes, furniture, toys, and odds and ends." He praises the "very nice improvements" made by the new owners.
Overall, the Palmetto Thrift Store seems to have transformed from a typical second-hand shop into a more curated, boutique-style thrift store. As RJ Harris simply states, it is "an amazing store." The new owners have clearly put effort into upgrading the merchandise, displays, and overall shopping experience for customers.

I can see the transformation from the previous store, and it's so nice and full with great furniture. It feels more like a boutique shop than just a thrift store. And it's so clean!! They have actual dressing rooms now vs. having to try on clothes in the bathroom. Loving the new Chapin location and also love the St. Andrew's location.
Thank you for a wonderful review, Brian! Glad you noticed the transformation. We want the best shopping experiences for our customers. We know you have other choices... we appreciate you chose to shop with us!

Immediately you could see the merchandising influence of new owners. Neat, clean, and well lit store with a nice assortment of clothes, furniture, toys, and odds and ends. Very nice improvements.

This location is different from the Columbia location. The store is $75% vendor booths and 25% general thrift setup. I loved the staff, they were super friendly! The clothing selection is a little more worn (out/peeling/stained) than other thrift stores. I did find a leather backpack for $13.99 so the deals are there if you have the time and patience to look.

Very disappointed, I visited this store for the first time on this past Saturday 1/11/25 just before closing time and I found two bookshelf amongst many on the display for sale. After a brief conversation with one of the store managers/supervisors it was clear that I should wait because I couldn't make it back with a truck to pick up items due to closing soon.I was told that the items had been there and should still be there when I return in a few day because they don't sale often. When I returned a couple days later on Monday 1/13/25 after a 45min drive from Columbia with a truck ready to pick up the book shelves I was told by the same manager/supervisor that they've suddenly decided not to sale them to me, and they're going to use them for store use. Even after the manager/supervisor asked and explained the whole story to a higher level manger, without any consideration for my time traveling, and money spent to get a truck they refused to sale me two of many book shelves that they still had in the store. Don't waist your time going here because some people are not valued. They made me feel less than human..
