This is my favorite bookstore! It's massive and I could stay in there for hours.

This store has SOOOO MUCH!! Books of every genre music cds, albums, children's toys, snacks, etc! Great selections in each area of the store.

This is a great new and used bookstore. It is similar to McKay’s, but smaller and nicer employees. Prices are similar in some ways. We stopped by on a Friday night an hour before they closed and I didn’t get to finish looking suns, so we came back Saturday morning and bought more. They have a rewards program, so you occasionally get $5 in rewards. This will become a usual stop for us in the Chattanooga area.

It’s good atmosphere with lots of fandom and music memorabilia. The staff are nice. Prices are mid. But they have some cool things you didn’t know you wanted.

Really cute bookstore with a good assortment of plushies, blind boxes, and cute toys and accessories. I was impressed with the amount of things that would make great gifts!

Amazing experience! My partner and I were like kids in a candy store at this shop. They have a bit of everything. We spent most of our time in the Manga, used books and stuffed animal sections. I do agree with a comment on here that things in there can be expensive but that's to be expected with some things. The cashier that helped us that night was very kind and helped me with my rewards that I had just set up.

Clean and organized store. Cashier was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We asked about how long the book and toy drive was lasting and when he was unsure he offered to find out for us. This customer service action is not utilized often enough. This was a truly enjoyable shopping experience.

Absolutely love book shopping, and this place gets new and used. I find it better than McKays, and is less crowded. Prices are so much better.

I love going to Great Clips because I’ve always got my haircut the way I’ve wanted it. They are very nice people very clean store and I would definitely recommend anybody to go there. My kids, my grandkids, my friend, friends and family thank you girls cut my hair the way I like it.

This was first time at this store today, And let me tell you I'm so impressed, the staff is so nice and helpful and they have such a great quality of books and movies 🍿.. I have definitely found a new favorite store.. Every one should at least check out this store as at least once. I promise if u do you will definitely see what I am saying. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We stopped here while we were on vacation and spent 2 hours looking around! There so much to see 👀, clean bathrooms, and the associates were so helpful and friendly. Lots of one a kind items and up to date reads.

Bookstores are becoming a dying breed. This store is wonderful. They have a mix of used and new books. They have a large Manga section.  Everything is laid out well and clean. One of my favorite stores.

Fun and colorful bookstore with great gifts for bookworms and kids young and old. I even found coconut gummies. I wish they had a seating area though. Not sure their philosophy on this, but without seating you don’t want to linger.

If McKay's absorbed a Hot Topic, you'd have 2nd & Charles. Sad that there were only 2 other customers. I don't see this place taking off in Chattanooga. Went to McKay's on the same day, and it was hopping.

Overall, not a bad place. Wish that the new and used were separated.

I like a used book store. There were new and used here. I did notice some of the used books were priced higher than some old stickers on them listed the price. I also was sad they used a large sticker that seemed difficult to remove. Clean and well stocked though.

A lot of different items you don't find in most stores. Many items didn't have price tags on them. There is more space to move around than McKays and restroom is nice.

If you are someone who likes old games, consoles, or frankly any electronics. This is the place for you. They have things ranging from today's time all the way back to the 2000's. They don't just have electronics, they also have tons of books. And a load of random little gadgets, trinkets, and accessories. Most of the stuff is used, but still in decent quality. The only thing is that the stuff, even though it's used, is still quite pricy. Overall good store for collectors.

There is a good selection of new and used books and price is reasonable for condition but some books are in a rougher condition than I would imagine buying. The store is a good size and kept clean and organized. The customer service was lacking. The person in front of me in line went to a register where an employee was standing and the employee told the man to go to another register rather rudely like the man should have known that he would not check him out even though there was no indication that his register was closed. I couldn't hear what the employee was saying when she asked me to buy a reusable bag but apparently they don't have bags unless you buy one of the giant, hideous, orange reusable bags so I struggled out to the parking lot with my stuff and my toddler in tow. Go, if you like books but not a shining customer service experience.

Okay place to shop for books & graphic novels.  Laughable in-store trade, though...you're guaranteed to get more trade at McKays.

Would like to start by saying it's a nice store with a nice selection and prices are pretty decent for most things, I'm a vinyl collector so cheap prices are not common in my world.

Explanation for the 3 star rating:

A few days ago I took some things to try and sell, a few collectible toys along with some brand new boxes of Legos and a small stack of records in fantastic shape with artists like Taylor Swift, Tyler the Creator, Tyler Childers, Sunn and Aerosmith, so pretty big names and the records themselves in near mint condition (will show pictures if you need proof I'm not embellishing) I dropped off my items at about 5:30pm and the store closed at 8pm (i thought 9pm but that's neither here nor there) 5 employees were at the counter, all laughing and carrying on, playing on phones etc. basically saying they didn't appear busy at all. So I check my items in, get my ticket, the fella told me they would send a text when it was finished. I'm very patient, I don't mind t wait, I understand things take time but at 8:15 when I hadn't heard anything I decided to stop back by to check if my order was ready only t find they had closed and I hadn't received any texts, calls, nothing, again fine as I don't mind to wait. I called back the following morning and the guy who answered said it looked like my order had been completed the night before and I could come by whenever. I went straight there to be told not a single item was accepted. My problem isn't that they didn't take my items, it's strange that several things were still brand new in the box and the vinyl were big names in fantastic condition but again, whatever. My issue is that with all the employees that I witnessed goofing around the previous night that it shouldn't have taken so long to be informed that nothing was accepted. So I feel a great deal of my time was wasted . With that many employees goofing around on phones I feel like it should have been a faster process to tell me that nothing was accepted. I made 3 trips to the store for absolutely nothing.

I will still give the store another chance as they do have a nice selection of pre owned vinyl but I don't think I'll be trying to sell anything there again. Just left a bad taste in my mouth reminiscent of mackays which I was hoping they would be a better alternative to, you're better off selling on your own on Facebook or eBay anyway.

This is a great place to go if you've got lots of  time to kill . . .
(Not necessarily a store you go to for a specific item -- more for what you MIGHT DISCOVER ("The Hunt" as their slogan goes) while shopping there . . .

I've found a lot of neat stuff at 2nd & Charles and their prices are reasonable and staff friendly.

My only real complaint comes down to the amount of time it takes to shop there, due to:

#01:  How poorly organized everything seems to be.

• The CD rack is a total mess --

• The vinyl section much the same.
(LASERDISCS slotted-in with LP soundtracks? Did you LOOK at the jacket?)

#02:  Lack of definitive, SPECIFIC categories for used DVDs & Blu-Rays:

• If you have LOTS of time, you can methodically work your way through an aisle of "Drama" or "Action / Adventure" the length of a basketball court, finding all MANNER of other genres therein.

For starters, there is no movie category for "science-fiction" or "classics" (Golden Age Hollywood / 1955 and before).

Makes for a very TIME-INTENSIVE search for anything worth buying.

As a result, I will not intentionally visit unless I have a full afternoon or evening that is free.

I like the store overall, but it's not the best. Selection is decent, doesn't change much, but what's there is hard to appreciate because it's a bit overpriced. This isn't surprising if you're familiar with their parent company.

Fine enough place to pick up the odd thing, but save your trades for McKay's for better value.

Usually love this place but this is the 2nd visit this year that I've seen opened mystery package products on the floor for sale, same ones from the first visit which I handed to the employees then they put back out for sale not even 5 minutes later.  Disappointing cause it was exciting to find that product there (can't find it many other places) only to see they'd been opened and for the store to care so little

I am someone who's been a customer of this establishment for just over 3 years, and it is not the place it used to be. For context I primarily shopped there for comics and occasionally for video game items so that is the perspective I will be approaching this review from. To start simply, their variety and markdown is not what it used to be, and I understand that's not necessarily the store's fault, but it felt worth mentioning. The reason I'm writing this and the reason I likely won't be shopping there again anytime soon is the abhorrently insulting downgrade their rewards program recently underwent. Originally, all rewards members basically got a 10% discount on every purchase, which would increase around holidays and other celebratory times of year. However, they switched it to a points program, where you'd get money back the more you spent. I do not know the specific numbers tied to this new program, but since its implementation I've probably spent $200 there, and only just recently did I get my "reward" of $5 off my next purchase. For someone who was around for the old program, this is an absolute slap in the face. And the cherry on top is when I asked the cashier for more information, I learned that in order to redeem the "reward" I would have to bring back the old receipt because they apparently can't or won't keep this information tied to your account, and I'm someone who's horrible about keeping receipts. But not only that, as when I checked the receipt, in fine print in says that the "reward" is only valid for the next 30 days. $200, for $5 off, only valid for the next 30 days; absolutely insulting.

I wasn't even sure what the store was based on the name which I think is funny it should say books but whatever. I stopped in to look at some Harry Potter items. Here's the problem with this store. And I am definitely a McKay's shopper! This store sells new and used books but they're all together. So I literally had to go through every single Harry Potter book to look for a label that was discounted so that I know it was a used book and I feel like that's very frustrating. Also, the girl up front told me that they are part of Barnes & Noble. As you know most Barnes & Noble will not a business I don't see this one staying in business long. The shelves are entirely too high you can't even reach books on the top shelves. And the atmosphere, if that makes any sense, is just off. It's boring, dull and I definitely won't be back. Plus, the books are really expensive.

The workers here aren’t very intelligent as we attempted to sell them an autographed comic by Stan Lee that was rated 9.9 and the clown at the counter said “I ain’t heard of that.” Someone else got this limited addition item and we got paid. Will be telling everyone not to come here because they’re not too smart

It would be nice if there were two stalls in the men's  bathroom. Especially if your employee is going to be in there for 20 minutes.

They will not buy books back the last hour there open. Three employees just sitting around gossiping more than happy to inform me that I can come back tomorrow. Sorry I interrupted your gossip session guys. I’m sure this is a policy that can be changed to something that’s more customer service friendly.

I have a comic book collection that I have done extensive research on and know the retail value of them, but one in particular is fairly valuable, 42 comics in all and all they offered was $2.25 for all of them. Took them to another place place and he noticed the valuable one one and gave me a very fair price of $812 for one book and brought the rest of them home, do the research it pays off

Really can't say much positive about this place. Came by to trade in a bunch of things. Waited nearly two and a half hours for their text telling me my appraisal was ready but nothing even though the store was empty and the clerks knew I was waiting for my stuff. Go up to the counter to finally check and am just told "the person who did your trade in never closed your ticket". No apology or anything for the long wait and their mistake. They disappear for a bit and then come back and offer a trade in less than half of what McKay's offered. The entire interaction was completely expressionless like they didn't want to be there. Took my things and won't be back. Wouldn't have been able to buy much of anything there anyways with how overpriced everything is inside.  Really, go to McKay's instead.

Staff was great, but…

Waited an hour to get 5 brand new board games “priced”. Found my games in the shelves for between $27-50 EACH. So I was expecting 20-25% of their current retail (remember, these are sealed new). Their offer for mine? $10.40. Yeah, this place is awful and the pricing for their “normal” items is 50% more than Amazon. Save yourself some time and shop elsewhere.

McKay’s offered $30 in cash and $50 in trade for these.
