About This Store

Nautical Antiques & Tropical Decor is a unique antique store located in Galveston, Texas that specializes in nautical and tropical-themed merchandise. This store offers a one-of-a-kind shopping experience, with a diverse inventory of items that capture the history and character of the coastal region.

The store is praised for its eclectic selection, which includes both antique and reproduction products sourced from decommissioned shops and salvage operations. Customers highlight the wide range of nautical decor and accents available, from giant porthole[s] converted into a coffee table to stainless and brass cleats. One customer notes that the store is a great source for nautical items and a must-see destination for those seeking beach house decor.

Beyond the merchandise, customers consistently praise the friendly and knowledgeable owners, who are described as wonderful and provide great customer service. Reviewers appreciate the owners' transparency in clearly distinguishing between salvaged and new items, emphasizing that they are not grave robbers but rather source their products ethically.

One reviewer even notes making special trips to the store, underscoring its unique appeal and reputation within the community. Sadly, the store is set to close at the end of 2024 as the owners retire, prompting one customer to express their sadness but also happiness for the owners' well-deserved retirement. Until then, Nautical Antiques & Tropical Decor remains a must-visit destination for those seeking a one-of-a-kind shopping experience and a glimpse into Galveston's rich nautical heritage.

They really have some of the absolute coolest things here! I’ve never purchased anything, just because it’s not my decor aesthetic, but I just love the history in their pieces! The shop owners are very friendly! Definitely a great place to visit!

This place is so cool and I wanted to buy everything. There’s stuff at different price points so you can just pick up a couple accent pieces, or a giant porthole converted into a coffee table.

Owner Response

Thank you- glad you enjoyed your visit!

A must-see shop while you're in Galveston! Get you nautical and beach house decor right here, at great prices! Hurry, they retire at the end of 2024, and will close it down! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Owner Response

May of 2025 is actually the correct retirement date as announced on our Facebook page and posted on our website www.piecesofship.com! so there's still a lot of time and more inventory coming in! Thanks!

I make special trips to Galveston to shop in the store. The people who own and operated are wonderful. The products are changing frequently. And they very clearly Mark what is a salvage item and what is a new item. And these are not grave robbers. They get their products from salvage operations not diving operations. And if you need cleats they have them. Stainless and brass.!

Owner Response

Thanks Stephanie - we appreciate you coming back!
