I just ordered the Scott Rodell cutting Miao Dao, if you are looking for a real sword made to specs from period times then this is it. The expertise in Laoshi Rodell’s knowledge of ancient Chinese swords is obvious in the Miao Dao. The length and balance point are excellent, the weight of this sword makes it float when used but it’s San Mei construction is designed to cut which it does effortlessly. The price point is excellent as a sword of this design and quality would easily sell in the thousands. I have edited this post and my Star rating from a 5 to a 2, after practicing with it for two weeks the fittings on the scabbard have come off, the very top one where the sword goes into the scabbard and the one on the end. I’m wondering if the others will also come off as they only seemed to be glued on.
