I love going to this place. Without exception the employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Things come and go fairly quickly so I try to stop by as often as possible. One never knows what might be waiting. I have bought everything from antique tools, an early antique secretary desk, to a door and even wood flooring. Prices are generally very reasonable and, besides, the money goes to a good cause anyway.

I was looking for a door to replace a damaged one and heard that Habitat had a mix of architectural salvage and thrift store items, so I went. WOW! Habitat has a lot of everything including new, used, vintage and antique lighting fixtures, tools, building goods (e.g. doors, windows, bricks, cabinets, etc.), furniture, household goods, and odds and ends. The staff are super helpful and friendly and the prices decrease depending on how long an item has been in the store. Not only did I find the exact door I was looking for (for $10!), I bought several antique saws, other tools, and an antique secretary desk. I've gone twice now and plan on making regular visits in future to make sure I don't miss out on a great deal.

This place has two floors!  Doors!  Windows!  Lighting!  Beds!  Tables!  Sinks!  Tools!   Appliances!  Lumber!  Makes me wish I had more skills!

I'm pretty biased, as I worked for both the Construction Team as a Crew Leader and then as Volunteer Coordinator for the Store. I can give you some hush-hush inside info as a result: 1. The prices are outstanding, as items are priced low to begin with, and then as time moves on, items automatically enter an increasing discount based on the tag color. Look for the large discount wheel above the shopping floor for details. 2. Come early and often to get the best stuff. 3. Check out the amazing back corner on the top floor, where exotic, expensive, historic, and notable pieces are shown. 4. Keep an eye out for the energy and commitment of the volunteer workforce. The store itself runs with less than ten staff, and relies heavily on volunteer help. 5. Holds for purchased items are allowed, and pickup can happen within a few days before your purchase is considered abandoned. 6. The store does donation pickup, but it must be arranged. They do not do delivery, but offer a list of trusted movers who you can call to hire. 7. If an item is not priced, it is not available for sale. If you see your favorite new coffee table being donated, it's not ready for purchase yet. Discounts are not given, as the price is firm, and the policy is clear. 8. The Store offers furniture, bed frames, housewares, tools, parts, appliances, doors & windows, lighting, antiques, lumber, fixtures, baths and sinks, flooring, paint, and electronics. They do NOT sell clothes, mattresses, or media items like books. 9. The staff and volunteers are always ready to load out your purchases, and help you in any reasonable way. 10. When you buy there, you are helping people to buy their own home. Highly recommended, deeply encouraged, would go again.

This place is huge compared to others I have visited.  Awesome employees and great variety of products.  I always buy something whenever I go to the habitat store. Good prices on what I was looking at.. That was a very clean store also. Will shop there again.

They've got a wide range of furniture and home improvement/building materials for reasonable prices! The staff is also very helpful with things like loading your purchases into your car. Heavily recommended for anyone new to town looking for furnishings. Their stock also changes regularly, so be sure to check back!

Always a joy to stop in here first before buying new. I find myself wishing I could scoop up so much more than whatever it is that I need. Extensive, great selection, tidy, and super staff!

Charlottesville's best kept secret! I always find great deals on home decor and building materials. I bought a futon and the 2 fellows working the loading dock were very cheerful and helpful.  Go shopping at this business,  you won't regret it!

It's a thrift store for diy & home projects, what more could you want (if you're into that sort of stuff). It also supports a great organization. Don't forget to donate there too! There are some items that are brand new and regularly stocked. Others are wild treasures you have to search for that might be super deals or special antiques priced accordingly. There's definitely no telling what you could find, and inventory changes all the time.

Great store and a great cause. This particular habitat store is incredible. It is organized and had an amazing selection of donated building supplies, furniture, light fixtures, and more. The community is very generous with what they donate because there are always really great finds here. You have to visit often because the stock is constantly changing almost daily.

A wonderful place. We have bought items for our home and our improvement projects again and again. The prices are terrific and the staff could not be more helpful.

Great place to find unique furniture. Friendly staff and quick checkout and assistance with putting heavy stuff in the car. I have bought a lot of furniture and hardware items here. Top floor is mostly big items and lamps, and bottom floor is a lot of appliances, bathroom stuff, wood, supplies. and a wall of doors.

From mission statement to storefront, this place is utterly fantastic. The turnover is tremendous, always new things to see, and if you find a gem, snag it, because I guarantee the person in line behind you will be taking it home otherwise!  Some of the best bargain hunting I've ever found, and well worth the return trip, and many, many, many more!

This place is a hidden gem among thrift stores in Charlottesville due to its location. I don't come here very often because it's more of a furniture/lighting/construction type thrift store but from what I've seen they have some good prices. If you have one the Attractions coupon books I've seen coupons for The Habitat Store but you have to spend a little bit of money to use one.

My father has bought chairs for a very small local business he worked for a friend so there would be more than one or two seats in the office plus they had interns.

My full time job is in a retail store and they don't provide an official "office" chair (one with wheels, arms rests, etc) just a really cushiony fancy looking chair so when I helped open a new location I came here to get a nice office chair for the office without spending a lot of money and the selection was great and actually two or three of the ones I chose.

I can't speak to how things may be right now but I know in the past they've offered delivery and/or the names of local places that will deliver to you from there. I've also seen items held after being paid for.

So worth a visit if you are looking for home items. Visit often to find a bargain. If we lived closer I sure would go in frequently.   Nice doors, furniture,  need a chair? Look here. Some furniture is just amazing. Building supplies are grab it when you see it. Don't wait, you'll be disappointed. By nature this is a make a decision when you're there or someone else will grab the item when you walk away. Fun place.

Great place for furniture and rugs. Also excellent for fixtures, odds and ends, windows, etc. Used to be super cheap, but cville prices have crept in. Some good deals can still be had. Sometimes you can haggle depending on who is working that day.

Fine selection of materials or furniture for the home.  The Habitat Store has a random stock of building materials at fractional prices; perfect for those smaller jjobs not needing a whole new box/supply/etc. Examples include: paint, windows, lighting, doors, sinks, and furniture for most every room.  Definitely worth a visit - just bring a truck or big trunk.

This is a great place to find that slightly used countertop or office chair you have been looking for. Also a good spot for new doors that you have to hang yourself if that's your thing. You never know what you are going to find. Need cheap work gloves? They probably have some. Need a little beige tile? They probably have some.

Really excellent and low priced selections.  I'm remodeling my house and the habitat store has saved me a lot of expense.  They even sell painting supplies and some construction materials.  I'll be going back to purchase flooring, a sink, light fixtures... Check them out.  They're great.

It's a good place to buy used furniture. I have a couch I bought there.  I've had it for over four years.

A good place to check every now and then for deals on home improvement items.  The prices vary from great deals, to over priced. If you have a small project around your house, definitely check here first for supplies.

Prices to high. For used furnitures and appliances. But is understandable. Need to raise money for pay rent bills.etc. still find what i need when opportunity hits. Good staff friendly.

There stuff is in good shape and interesting, but even though the money goes to a great cause, the prices here are really high, even compared to other Habitat stores. This means a lot of stuff sits around forever.

We all understand and appreciate what they stand how I understand it is the retail store was created to help fund habitat for humanity building homes for under privileged people but it seems now that they brought in lots of items in at not very good prices even the donated items that come to them completely free I might as well just buy it new in most cases

Huge collection that has been there forever. They need to load up a big portion of their stuff and either give it away or trash it and start over. Occasionally there are good items found In here but along with it usually comes a hefty price tag.

I thought this was to give people a economical solution to fixing there home when they can't afford lowes and what u do spend goes to help build homes for people in need but with these prices lowes is cheaper and guy that works there interrupted me and my gf talking about prices and got rude about it and people go there and pay whatever thinking it must be a deal but it's not most things are priced higher than what it would be new

Ordinarily this place is a great resource, but for now I would say it's not. Because of the Covid 19 they've gone into lockdown mode and only allow 15 people at a time into the store. What this means is, once that many are inside, they only let people in one at a time as individuals leave. I went there and there was a large group waiting in line sweltering in the direct sunlight. Not going to do that. Some things aren't worth sweating in line for. I'll change the one star review in the future once it becomes accessible by normal means.

All in all - waaaayyyy overpriced junk. And I don't mean antiques...I mean junk, like the leftovers from a bad yard sale that no one would take for free. The things that were in decent shape were so ridiculously expensive that you could buy new items of better quality for a better price. Very, very disappointed in the habitat store. When they first opened they were a great place to find all kinds of stuff for reasonable prices, now it's like they forgot everything they have was donated to begin with.
