Always love coming here from Roanoke. The store is filled with quality and high-end clothing, purses, shoes. Staff is always helpful as well. Home store is also filled with quality pieces and even brand new furnishings. Delightful!

I love both of these stores their clothing and furniture a few doors down. As someone who is 5'9 I like the diversity in their clothing since it tends to come in maybe from college people or people who have been more traveled. We have such limited shopping options here in Lynchburg. I tend to shop their clearance items which they have quite often and always spend a a good amount. This store it is on my regular shopping stops. I don't even shop at "regular" stores mostly just this store and TJ Maxx. It fills most of my clothing needs.  I do know that they tend to be more selective about things they take in, as a consigner I have not had a lot of luck with them; things I consider nice or unique tend to get shot down- it's just too much trouble to tow your pressed nice clothes all the way over there for them only to take one or two pieces at most. But that's okay! as a shopper I will go there, always. I have since found another consignment store that seems to have good luck with my clothing items I bring in as a consigner.
Well kept great store!! Girls aren't standoffish just busy from what I can see it would be nice to have a suggestion and interaction "Nice to see you again"  "we have some beautiful purses that just came in or are you looking for something particular?" which I would add "yes size 10 long pants for fall under $15".

They sell great quality items which are brand new to very gently used. Today consisted of a brief visit of handbags 👜 and shoes 👟. Staff was great holding chosen items while we continued shopping. This little, cute, girl here was everything; friendly and a hard worker awaiting the next customer!

Wonderful selection of home furnishings that are unique!  Helpful staff, variety of furniture, pillows, housewares, and decor.  Definitely will be returning!

FANTASTIC store, truly. The staff is very helpful and personal. I love being greeted by everyone and even seeing the adorable shop dog sometimes! The reviews that are below five stars are for reasons that the owners have already listed in the consignment contract. I always find treasures in both the clothing, and furniture side. This place is AMAZING! I appreciate that they take vintage clothes because that’s pretty much my entire wardrobe. I love the other used clothing store up the street but they will decline items that might be in style, but were made beyond two years ago (I.e. Target/AE dates their clothes). The best Levi’s ARE made years ago, and ‘On Second Thought’ gives this pretty broke millennial an opportunity to feel stylish without breaking the bank. Thank you to everyone who works here - I will forever be a consigner and customer! There’s enough clothes in the world, shop small and support your local businesses. Buy second hand!

This is what consignment shops should look like. The example of a great America. Like definitely top 10. If you don't buy from Second Thought then you are a second thought. Truly. You know, wrong. Everybody says so. My friends at second thought consignment shop are the best consigners. They have all the consignments. This is the place to go if you want consignment. If you aren't going to second thought, are you even trying to make America great or do you hate America?

Love this place! Brenda has an eye and heart for fashion!! One of the most nicely arranged and kept consignment places I've seen. You'll be treated well and will find awesome deals! I found a really nice tunic style top for 5$!

The best consignment shop we have ever been to.  Everything is well placed/decorated, and the shop is very clean and pleasant.  Staff is always friendly and helpful.  It is always a great experience even when we don't find something to buy, which is rare.

Great selection and prices on clothes and home goods. You never know what you might find there and that is what it makes going there so much fun!

Love shopping here. They seem to only take good quality and well maintained items. Good prices, clothes racks not crowded together so it's easy to get through store. I can usually find something each time I go.

Variety of decor and furniture. Good prices. A lot of new furniture.
Good place to go to furnish an apartment or home. Prices are reasonable.
Right now Christmas items are discounted. A lot still there, but going fast.

Go there often for great new finds. Every time i go here there's new gently used quality treasures to look at. Staff is friendly and service is good.

UPDATE: After the owner heard of my situation, she promptly contacted me apologizing for what happened, and kindly worked with me to have my items returned. Excellent customer service changes everything and I am so thankful for how she handled the situation.

[Original post: So disappointed as a consigner. The pricing was not disclosed to me when I signed the contract. I assumed name brand/high end items would be sold for decent prices. I handed over $1000.00 worth of dresses and shoes and I'll be lucky to make $50 if they ALL sell. If I knew the pricing, I would have kept them and tried to sell them myself. This is my first ever consigning experience and I will never do it again. I can't even take my items back now knowing the pricing because I signed the contract.  As far as being a shopper goes, it's probably a great place to buy.
Advice: don't consign here if you need money, and ask how much your excellent quality/ high end items will be sold for because they will not tell you otherwise.]

Some aspects that impact an item's price are style, brand, and condition. We regret that you had a less than 5-star experience with us, as customer service and satisfaction are our top priorities. 

I love the overall atmosphere and layout of the store but look closely before buying. I find many items to be overpriced. Look carefully as many items of similar quality can be purchased new at discount stores for less. I found the staff to be competent but somewhat standoffs. Not sure if it is because I am new to this area and not a regular but there was no welcome or come again as is typical in the retail industry.

Our one-time set up fee is debited from your account, so there is no money out of pocket. This fee is for account set up and item processing. Additionally, it helps ensure a long-standing relationship with our valued consignors. We will reach out to you via email to answer any questions you have about our contract or policies.

The place itself smells good and they are very organized. Friendly, and a great selection. However, the $20 startup fee as a seller makes no sense whatsoever. Keep that in mind

It would be nice if the hours were more consistent with the working class. I just watched a potential customer walk up to the door at 5:25 and the door is locked. As soon as she walked away, the lights went out. If you go in after 5pm, the stores start to shut down. 5:15, music off. As a customer, I feel like I’m being a bother and a nuisance being there so close to closing time.

Staff should be more friendly.  They rarely say hello when customers walk in.  It's always this way.  Not much different when you check out!

I had a short amount of time to shop today and I selected a few dresses to try on. I needed to use the bathroom and when I asked they told me I had to go across the street to McDonalds. Seriously? You sell womens clothes, you need to have a bathroom!!! So i had to leave and then ran out of time to shop. What a huge dissapointment! I cant rate this place very high because of this issue. Please consider opening your bathroom to your customers!

Nice clothing store. Enjoy shopping there! I have consigned clothes for the last few years. However, lately they are not taking my clothes - and most are new or almost new (purchased in the last year). I find it a little disappointing when some of the clothes on the rack look worn-out and older. Many of the clothes I bring in look better than what I am seeing on the racks!

Not impressed with this store at all. Lots of junky stuff in there. I really couldn’t understand how some of those clothes were hanging there but I guess they were in style. The things I took I will admit may have been out dated but there are seniors that would have liked the tops, I think so anyway. The jeans are still in stores. There are some nicer things but not my style or taste. I thought I will take them to Goodwill and bless someone else. No intentions of going back.

the pickiest consignment shop ive ever been to. i genuinely have never seen someone look at the date on a piece of clothing and reject it because of so. i think me and my mother brought about 15-20 different clothing pieces EACH and somehow they took 0. they told me mine had signs of wear..i guess they expect pre-owned to look brand new (and apparently short sleeve shirts and sleeveless dresses arent spring apparel as well). i shouldve looked at the reviews before going since they have a history of this. check out lulus or next time down the road instead, much better selections and customer service 👍

No no no. I took in two pairs of leather boots, gorgeous and really cool, great brand, wore both one time. They said they would sell them for something like $40 each. I ended up getting $12 for both. Such a rip off.

Hi Cheesekake -  It appears you left a review for the incorrect On Second Thought Consignment. We are located in Lynchburg, VA and don't pay outright for items - items are on consignment and are a 50/50 split when they sell. We have surveillance throughout our store and do not have an instance matching your encounter and can assure you that no owner or employee stole a pair of boots. We would appreciate if this review was revised or removed as it's a false accusation of an experience that did NOT take place at our small, family-owned business.

I left 8 pairs of shoes at this store to sell. Someone stole one pair, it was a brand new gorgeous looking pair of boots that I had never worn. I believe either it was the owner or an employee that stole it. So from 8 pairs of shoes they said they had only 7 pairs and could only sell 4 pairs, they gave me only $5.

I would NOT recommend this consignment store. They are dishonest. Don't let them rob you!

The store was nearly empty, but the 3 gals didn’t accept clothing to be consigned on weekends and wouldn’t make an appointment for me. Definitely disappointed with the odd rules, so I’m taking my clothes elsewhere to sell instead.

The staff in the clothing store are rude and very snotty. I had items to pick up that didn't sell and couldn't find any of them. Looked everywhere. 4 people behind the counter so i asked for help. They said it was store policy that customer had to find their own clothes. Not the only unpleasant experience here. The furniture side is much nicer people. Take your clothing business elsewhere. I would rather donate clothes to charity before going to this place.

I had some  20!items to put on consignment. The three girls that were there inspected all of them and we're making faces at each other.  They said they were ALL out of style.  I had seen one of the dresses on Kelly this morning on her tv show.  I was given them back and I made a comment that I did not realize that they were not good enough for the store.  When I picked them up to leave I accidentally step on one of them and turned around and saw the three whispering and laughing. I asked them if they were talking and laughing at me. One of the girls answered no very smartly. I in turn said GOD bless them.  I will never enter this store again and will tell others not to also.
