Going to a wedding next weekend, and I found exactly what I had imagined I would wear at Mechanicsville's Uptown Cheapskate! A brand new, with tags, velvet green dress with gold accents. Perfectly fitted, prefect length, slit up the side to the perfect spot, at the perfect price! I'm finally able to be excited instead of stressed, because I have my dress!

Wonderful store! Such a huge selection of everything. Took my daughter shopping, and she was delighted.

I love shopping at Uptown Cheapskate in Mechanicsville! The store is always clean, easy to navigate, and everyone is helpful! One of my favorite stores!!!

Large, well lit, and tastefully designed store, with wide aisles and meticulously organized women's, men's, and children's clothing in various sizes and designs.  The inventory is plentiful so you have a number of suitable options dependent on your taste.  There area more than adequate number of dressing rooms that are spacious and immaculate.  The staff was welcoming, knowledgeable, and eager to help.  I purchased 3 pairs of brand name jeans in very good condition for less than I could get one new at typical retail price.  Very pleased with my experience and will definitely return.

Huge step above the other option for selling/buying thrifted clothes in Mechanicsville. The store is always super clean and well organized. I sell and shop at least once a month and always have a great experience.

I love being able to come here and get some great deals! Everything I'd color coordinated so it easy to go straight for the colors you want. Everything is nice and clean too.    If I had more time I would have walked out with double.

Very chic and clean. Everything was nicely organized and on top of separated by size a lot of the sections were color coded. The employees were very kind and helpful. The clothing, bags, and shoes were incredibly well-priced. My only critique would be a place to sit to try on the shoes.

Owner is extremely nice, he always remembers last conversation he had with you as well. Doesn't matter how long it's been,  he always ask if you need help. To me that is great customer service .

Great prices and great customer service. I always find what I’m looking for when I shop there. Very clean and neat and does not smell weird like the one in chesterfield. I will continue to shop at the mechanicsville location. Oh and the staff at the mechanicsville location greet you when you walk in also, the chesterfield location didn’t even acknowledge me or my son but when a Caucasian customer walked in right behind us they were greeted with a smile. Funny right, NOT

This place is so cute! I dropped in to purchase a wallet to protect my money for the holidays. They had stellar condition brand names! I bought my first Michael Kors piece! The owners are lovely people. They care about every customer and go above and beyond. Armando took the time to speak to customers in their first language and was able to switch seamlessly into English for me. They make everyone feel welcome! Please pay this spot a visit. I am so glad I did.

I had passed by the shopping center several times and seen the shop, but have never stopped until today. Quite the inventory of new and gently used clothing items. Had a good time browsing and never once felt as if I was overstaying my welcome. The two young ladies there were quite friendly and very personable. I think I'll go back just to see what kind of inventory might be coming in in the next month or two!

Uptown Cheapskate is my go to brick and mortar for clothes shopping.  I am not a fan of shopping and honestly dread it but the experience at Uptown CHeapskate is top notch!  Its clean, modern and well organized, the staff is friendly and obliging and I always find such great treasures there!  My last trip I got jeans for my husband that he absolutely loves and I got some work blouses, snow boots and a fedora!  They literally have everything!  Highly recommend everyone shop here!

This is such a cool store and always a great experience when I come in! Lots of clothes and accessories to choose from and there are new items that come in everyday. The staff members I've interacted with have always been super polite and the owners make an effort to interact with customers when they are in the store. Love this store and love the owners! They have always worked with their customers and employees (worked with and have been shopping with them since 2018) in every way they can. Unfortunately immature individuals would like to tarnish their good name for unjustified reasons (or just because they don’t agree with COMPANY policy). That’s ann awful thing to do to such a wonderful family! It’s true though that love will always outshine the hate. Seeing all the reviews in the last 12 hours breaks my heart. I have worked with AND shopped with the owners since 2018 (shout out to the OG Kid to Kid staff!) and I’ve never had a negative interaction with them. They are unbelievably sweet and always do their best to work with people. They are some of the most genuine and kind hearted people I’ve ever met. They take care of their employees AND their customers in every way possible. Unfortunately there are people (including disgruntled employees) that are bitter and spiteful when the owners set appropriate boundaries (and uphold COMPANY policy). At the end of the day anyone would be lucky to shop with, and work for, this family. I sincerely hope bitter angry people learn to grow the heck up, be mature, and look inward to do some soul searching before opening their mouth. I love and appreciate the owners, adore their stores and styles, and will continue to shop at K2K and UC every chance I get! Kudos to this family and all the hard work they have put forth to own TWO business that are thriving in mechanicsville🩷🩷🩷

Amazing place whether you’re selling clothes or looking to add on to your wardrobe! The store is clean and their selection caters to everyone! All the staff is friendly and inviting, beyond helpful plus takes extra time to answer any questions you may have! I always find something nice for myself and my son when shopping here.  The store is clean and organized and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the purses and shoes!!!  They also have a lot of brand new items like jewelry.  Absolutely recommend.

I love the store. I have been there couple of times. The items and service just get better and better there. I sold items last week, and had an awesome experience. I got to Google to write a 5 star review to show my appreciation. I was shocked to see all negative reviews coming thru about Alicia within 1 hr. apart, it looks like somebody went on a rant, I personally know her. She is an awesome person. She is compassionate, hard worker, and supportive. She is fair and will hold you accountable. But she treats every one with respect, and will never leave anybody hanging. I used to work with her, that girl can be funny and productive at the same time. She is full of positive energy. I have seen her interacting with her staff. I don’t know what this is all about. But it looks like bunch of bullying and harassment from a former employee. I don’t know, I am assuming this. But it looks like that. It is
sad to see these people writing reviews within minutes of each other. I cannot believe that they went that low to bring her precious kids to their mess. They even tried to make fun of her for wearing bright colors. She has a bright and beautiful personality that shines everywhere. I highly recommend this place. Excellent store with a variety of items at affordable prices. The store is clean and organized. Management is nice and flexible with the schedule as long as you request time off before the schedule gets published. Management encourages teamwork. Pretty much everybody is responsible of their work, and management will keep everybody accountable. There are common rules like cellphone usage, provide excellent customer service, and keep the store clean and organize.

I have been in there several times and I’ve had a young lady I believe her name was Reagan.   I wanted to Xpress this young lady was very helpful and very polite. Knowing that the store is recently new and knowing that I have been in the retail business before customer service is number one to keep her company and store going and she certainly showed what she needed to.   I would say she was very helpful.  thankful that she helped me out and worked with me she’s an excellent person and younger lady.

Great store and great selection!! Much better than most upscale thrift stores. Sometimes items are priced kind of high but overall this is an awesome store!!

Nice clothes , good prices and the staff are really nice  The only problem is that I'm always stopping in when they are about to close.

First time visiting based on recommendation from a girlfriend and I was not disappointed!! Very organized, smelled wonderful, very easy to navigate the store, staff was pleasant!! Can’t wait to go back!! Maybe a weekly spot from now on!!! Very nice experience!!!!

Store is mostly clean. Very overstocked on women’s small and medium clothing to the point of having bins of close out smalls on the sales floor. Very little large and xlarge options in anything other than denim on the sales floor. Shoes size wms 9 and up were sparsely stocked. I brought in 2 bags of clothes new with tags. I was offered $10 cash/$12.50 in 5 items that retailed at $100+ for sizes they lacked. This is unfair as I would be hard pressed to find 1 item at that cost. Accessories were cheap and lacked quality. It was strange that they were stocking chips and candy at the overcrowded and disorganized counter. I probably won’t be returning to this location. I stopped in based on their good review scores, which is retrospect seem suspect as they are mainly from users who have only left 1-5 google reviews total.

Hi, thanks for your review! I am sorry that you felt that way. We can ensure you that went thru all of your pieces. I reviewed the video of when your items were being sorted.  We are only buying casual items in excellent condition in styles no older than 3 years. If you would to get more details on why we did not take your items. I am happy to answer all your questions. I was able to see your items thru video and I agree with our sorter’s decision. But we cannot buy items that we will not sell for us. I hope that you understand, we are trying to stay in business.  1- I am sorry that we did not take your items. They did not meet our standards. I do not want to provide details here why we did not take your items, out of respect to you. I am happy to answer all your questions, if you like to talk over the phone. Please let me know. The majority of the items in the store are in excellent condition unless we bought an item by mistake. 
2- If you consider friends my husband, 3 kids, and my dog a lot? For me that’s all I need, for sure it feels like a million of friends. But I dont think that’s what you were trying to say. I am not from here. I have 3 kids, a full time job, and two stores that I am trying to develp in hard economic times. I wish that I had time for friends but I do not! All the reviews are true! I probably know 10% of those people and that’s because they are customers. No idea of who they were before we opened the stores.
3- Let’s talk numbers:
Since we opened a little bit over a year ago, we had over 5000 customers sold to us, 87% of those customers have sold multiple times. They returned. We have over 10000 customers that bought from us. 79% have bought multiple times.
4- When people are selling, we ask for all that informatiom because it is a requirement. People are getting paid. We want to ensure that the items that  people bring in to sell belong them. We do not do anything with anybody’s information unless items are stolen at that point the police will take a look are our system. We have never had anybody selling stolen items neither. But we have to take all precautions.  
5- Our process for selling items is not for everybody but we understand it. We do not try to upset anybody or make anybody feel bad about their items, we cannot take items that will sell. There is No need to speculate, get upset, or diminish our store or items. It is a very objective process. No need to add feelings.
I wanted to take my time to explain everything to you because your review is really unfair. And I could tell that you are upset for something that should not be. Please take care. I hope that you have a wonderful day!

They didn’t even look at the clothes I brought in to sell. Absolutely terrible customer service!!! I walked in there and handed them a bag full of not messed up good clothing at 6pm. They stop buying at 7pm. They told me it would take 20 minutes to look at the clothes. It took 5 minutes for them to say they weren’t interested because of the style and condition. When I looked around their store, the shoes had huge stains on the bottoms and the clothes were ripped where they shouldn’t be. I had a lot of items that looked similar to the ones they had. Places like this aren’t selling anything, if they are they aren’t getting anything for them, then they SCAM you out of your money. BUYERS AND SELLERS BEWARE!!! Read the bad reviews from the Mechanicsville location and all of their others before you think about buying or selling.

Maybe yall should be more upfront about that. Instead of people wasting their time to bring clothes to sell. I looked in your store and saw clothing that was almost exactly like what I had. Like I said, your store is a SCAM and you have lots of items like mine and way worse than mine. Buyers and sellers need to be aware. By the way, I highly believe the good reviews are by people who are your friends not people who have gone in the store. Way to lie to people like you do in so many other ways. Eventually people will see for themselves. Oh and, you have to give WAYYY TO MUCH INFORMATION for just selling clothes!!!! Why do you need my drivers license number and address? What are you going to do with that information? Pretty scary.
