I just wish they had some engineering/electronics books (old ham radio books would be great)

The staff is always helpful, and the selection is ever  changing. I always find something in here to take home.

I have issues with this place, only in that there's so many books in there that I'd like but I've gotta build my collection as my budget allows.  And my daughter constantly wants to go back for more, as well.

They have everything from books, movies, games, to collector's pieces!

A lot of old school stuff here. They sell things that are hard to find. I feel like a yard sale/Craig's list all in one store here when I come!

They are pretty clean and organized and have a good selection of books, music and board games and other miscellaneous things.

On this day, I needed a copy of a particular popular book. I took a chance and called the store. Caleb, Assistant Manager,  answered. I told him of my request. He knew that he had a used/newer copy of this particular book. He asked if I would like him to go check to confirm the cost and condition of the book. I was grateful, to say the least.  He returned, we discussed, and he asked for my name. He placed the book on hold for my pick-up. This location, when entering, was clean, organized, and pleasant , lol, but true. Wheel chair accessible with open floors to navigate. This is great customer service!! Simple, maybe, but u have no idea how important that book was to me!  Well done, Caleb. Thank you!!

I recently picked up "The Messy Middle" by Scott Belsky at 2nd & Charles and I'm thrilled with my find! The store has an incredible selection of books, and the staff was both helpful and knowledgeable, making my visit a breeze. The ambiance is inviting, perfect for book lovers looking for their next great read. I can't wait to dive into my new book! Highly recommend this gem of a bookstore for anyone wanting to discover or revisit favorites.

Our first time visiting this establishment. What a great store for the whole family. If you like Books a million you’ll enjoy  2nd & Charles. Wonderful place to spend time and browse. Had some decent finds with some used books, an anime movie, and found a rare video game that was fairly priced. Will be checking out the inventory at the other location in Richmond.

Great selection of new and preloved books, awesome lego table with random bricks for a very low price, many many toys to choose from ... we love to shop here. Employees are always helpful and kind.

Excellent assortment of books and Fandom items. Noticed that for some titles, there was a wide range of prices. I suspect that this might be due to some volumes being new and others being used. However, both volumes ichecked appeared to be in the same condition, so it might be expedient to not just grab the first volume of a title you're looking for. 😉

Nostalgia, check.  This place has it all.  I love walking around and checking out what new things they get in.  Always great customer service and fair prices.

Love this place. Cheaper Fandom stuff than most retail shops. Appeals to anyone's inner nerd with plenty of nostalgia. Will buy vintage toys Retro or current games or systems, books and guitar gear.

I hate this store... Because I can't leave without buying something, they have everything you need. Just got 4 books for $10... We always end of being in the store for an hour or more just looking.  We've gotten lost in this store. And still haven't seen EVERYTHING, because it changes almost daily!

I only have been here once but i love bookstores, such a great variety of book genres. They had a lot of walkthrough traffic which is somewhat of an indicator that this is a community favorite.  Will repeat sometime in the New Year.  But for now. It made a very good first impression.  They also have some sort of buyback program...not sure how it works but thought I would throw that in there.

Great store and always keeping up to date with what their customers are looking for. Great, friendly staff always happy to help you find what you need. Their innovative business is what's needed more of for the ever changing consumer and to say that I myself was more than satisfied upon each visit is an understatement. My only regret is that their stores aren't bigger and full of even more of what I and others love.

This place was awesome. Books, Music, Collectibles, Games, Movies and the list goes on and on. I personally could of spent hours here.

What a fun spot to check out comics, games, books, and music. We typically go in to browse around and then end up purchasing a few things that catch our eyes. Very unique store and the staff is nice.

Always a fun place to look for unique gifts for fans of pretty much anything. Staff is kind and helpful. They don't provide bags so bring your own unless you want to buy one of theirs or carry your purchases out.

This place is HUGE and amazing! If you love to read or game, and don't want to pay high prices, this is the place for you. The have used and new books, board games, dvds, music, video games for multiple consoles, and MANY other fun things. They also have the option for selling back older items you no longer want or need for either cash or store credit. Although their cash prices/store credit offered are pretty low, they do offer a higher return if you choose store credit. Which if you've been in a 2nd & Charles, I'm sure you will always find something to buy. My family and I love this store, and we would definitely highly recommend it!

I love how the store is easy to navigate. The employees are able to look up books for you to see if they have them in stock. Everyone is nice when I come here. They have a unique vintage book and comic selection. The store and bathrooms are clean and smell good too.

A clean and organized store. The staff are knowledgeable about their products and helpful in a concerned manner, not rushed.
Oh, the choices are numerous,  with lots of small items related to reading, music, cell phone, children's fun stuff related to stories, first editions, candy.
Plan on staying awhile.
They have a giveaway section for well-used books.

I absolutely love this place ❤️. the variety of new and used books and movies is staggering. they actually buy these items as well as gaming equipment and individual games and either pay or give store credit. I love the store credit so I can take my granddaughter and let her buy books and movies. they sell guitars, records, and an amazing assortment of unique and fun gift items. we travel about 45 minutes one way just to shop and trade at this store. the staff is outstanding.

This place is great! If you're a book lover, you must check it out. The picture is old and from when they first opened. The whole left of the store is books and the right is games and records. Sell your unwanted books and games too.

Love this place and the staff is amazing. Fun to come in and see all the unique stuff that has shown up. Store is clean and presentable, sometimes hard to move around.

Big music/toy/fandom store that's worth popping into with the kids.

The vinyl, while plentiful, wasn't hugely impressive in terms of condition or price though.

Dedicated vinyl browsers will probably be better off heading to one of Richmond's dedicated record stores.

Spent some time here recently looking for used Xbox games. They usually have good prices for the items they do have in stock.

While i prefer not to support chain stores versus local comic book stores, or music stores, i must admit that this is a fun place to just waste some time and browse around. Really nice rotating selection of used toys, video games, novels, and manga. But avoid there actual comic book area. It is an unorganized mess over there.

I like the large selection of books available.  Employees are knowledgeable and helpful. Budget friendly pricing.  Only wish they had a strict alpha filing system by author name.  Filed largely by first letter last name. Finding a specific book can take some time. But...shopping here is worth some inconvenience.

One of my favorite places to go. This location is about an hour away sadly. It's a bit like an media antique store. There are new items, but most of their inventory is used. Sometimes you don't find something you have to have, but sometimes you can hit the jackpot. From vintage action figures and video games to used books and music.
It can seem overwhelming with the amount of stuff piled up around you, but if you have time to look around you are bound to find something great.  One thing you should know is they don't offer bags, so if you plan on getting several things you will want to bring your own. Overall, it is an organized chaos with lots of nerdy goodness

Great way to kill an evening. Just wish there was a bit more organization in sections such as by authors last name. But you can find some pretty good deals if you're willing to take the time and look.  If you have books you were planning on just dumping to good will you could try and get some cash back from them so your can turn it right around for store  credit.

Spacious aisles with new and used books, games, records, toys, etc. However, the bookshelves are vaguely organized by the first initial of the authors last name. This makes it incredibly difficult to find anything. The trade in value is pennies compared to other used book stores, meaning they offered me .20c for a book when another store later offered me $4.00 for the same book. The staff is friendly, but seems to be too few employees working on the weekends.

Kinda of upset with this situation. Took place  but i understand in a way. The young man was very nice on the phone when i spoke with him i was looking for a Nentendo ds charger and he said he could hold it for me for 3 days bc of bad weather i was later and even called to make sure he could hold it one more day and said yes  i was coming to pick it up thursday showed up and he said it was back on the sales floor and someone had already bought it. I was so disapointed. Still looking for one mind you but the atmosphere and people were great.

Its good, have tons of Manga, (not the kind i want which is hard to come by bec Tokyopop is defunct sadly) a Becides some things being over priced, iv gotten some gems and on rare occasions they do have free books. Go if you have a good chunk of change. Stuffs expensive but still fun to explore. Please have more crochet books, you only have knitting!!

oh btw if they offer you 3 free mag subscripton DONT TAKE IT. They will send the magazines your card info and YOU WILL BE CHARGED FPR THEM after 3 issues. Had to argue woth Cus service for the mag company to insure they deleted my payment info!!!

The place has a lot of stuff... unfortunately, there is a lot of stuff.. I know, confusing- just like I was in this store. I wandered around for about 45 mins... just to see what they had. I got tired of trying to figure out just what the store was about and left. Prices weren't the worst on some things I actually looked at... I've been here 3 times now- twice w/ relatives who seem to like this place for some reason... which is why I keep TRYING to figure this place out. Oh, and FINALLY after @ 40 minutes of aimless wondering, I had an employee ask me if I needed help. I had a few walk past throughput my visit, but only 1 spoke... and he was behind a counter of what appeared to be junk everywhere- on it and in the area behind it... Sorry, I just don't get this flea market kinda vibe I get in this store...

Listen to other reviews and do NOT sell to them. It's insulting what they offer. I was so speechless I know I stood there for a good minute processing what he said he was offering me for my 16 books.

I understand this is a second hand store but when I had 16 books, 5 of them released this year and 2 hardback there is no way I should be getting $6.70 in cash/$11 store credit. They sell brand new books for over $20 so please explain how this is fair.

They want things in prestige condition but offer you nothing and no respect when choosing to sell to them. I won't be buying from them anymore I'm better off with my $39 yearly Barnes and Noble membership where I get 10% off everything. Save your time and money. This place is an absolute joke.

Lastly if I bought 16 books from them used I'd be spending more than $6,. So again I say make this selling model they have make sense. You can't.

The gift cards are if you buy $50 worth you get an extra $10.. a great deal!
But then after you buy the gift cards you have to go over to where they do training and such and then you have to give them your ID they have to put it into the system and load the $10 basically under your name and then you have to go all the way back over to the roadshow that you bought them at and have it applied to a gift card or add it to one of the ones that you already  got. That's a whole lot of back and forth not very convenient.

I was "helped" by a man with his chest sticking out, smelling like an ashtray. I dropped off a box of Blu-ray movies and an old Radioshack controller worth $40-$50 online used. A man can be heard talking to another coworker talking about how the controller is worth $45 online and rare. They wanted 20 movies and the controller with an offer of $12 cash. I told the man I didn't want to sell the controller, and he said that he would have to redo the sell and put my order back in line behind everyone else. Mind you, they are selling 2 of the same movies for $8 each. I went to the 2nd and charles on West Broad St. the week before and sold 8 western themed movies for over $20. I will never go or do business at 2nd and Charles on Hull St.

Extremely unorganized. If you are looking to browse all day this place is fine but if you are looking for something specific that isnt on tiktok good luck. Nothing is in alphabetical order

Okay selection, sometimes product condition can be a gamble. They don’t seem like they change products a whole lot. Staff is on the rude/unprofessional side. Buying will usually be pitifully low-priced, even if you pick store credit. Prices can be a bit high but they almost always offer some coupons/deals. I definitely don’t care for this one at all. Visit the one in Short Pump for a better experience!

I will say this this store etc could be a lot better if the buyback system  was entirely better sold a lot of things that are valued way higher than what they offered for example there’s a ruby nft funko pop that I saw sold between the $50-$100 range and was only offered at this store $6 in cash or $12 in credit which is a heavy drop on the item  please see this review and consider selling your items online unless your willing to throw away items

Donot sell to them!! They will not give you a fair amount for your items!! They're greedy as hell! They bought a book from me that was only being sold in one place online for over $1000 and gave me pennies for it.  How is that a fair deal?? Obviously I didn't know it was worth that much since I let it go but they should GIVE THE CUSTOMER A FAIR AMOUNT! DONOT BUY OR SELL HERE!

I always forget why I drive so far out of my way to go to the other location.  This is to the man working the buy back counter today, who was annoyed and unwilling to search the stock for a switch controller. He said no, they don't have any, without even looking.  After several minutes we were finally able to find one on the shelf. Now I'm just to annoyed to buy it.  It's ok, maybe he was just having a bad day...
