I love love love 2nd and Charles. They are my must go to place aside from.the thrift store for great bargains on books.

My family loves this place! Especially when they have the “penny per page” days!!

4/12/25 - Better than Barnes n Noble. Lots to see, lots of options. From books one of which is a very large manga section, music, posters, bags, etc. Prices are better as well. I am very excited to come back. The staff is also super friendly and helpful.

I love seeing places like this still around. The store has an eclectic collection of old & new. The store has many opportunities for the shoppers to come together as a community and many perks for the rewards members. The store is clean & well organized. The service was excellent.

There are many books/ new & used, music sections (instruments/ new & used, vinyl, CDs, +), manga, novelty items, kids section with games & toys... And more.

I always have fun coming in and looking around with my daughter. When I tell you they have everything, I mean it! Any kinda book you could want ON TOP OF merch from certain books or shows. Super helpful staff and such an inviting environment 🖤

We love 2nd and Charles. We frequent the shop and find manga, figures, Comic books, anime DVDs and plushies that you don't typically find elsewhere. Staff is always friendly.

The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. When I was looking for a particular book, the staff helped me look for them, and also, when they came across them, they set them  aside for when I came back 2 days later and remembered me.The moment I walked through the door.

Here you can buy, sell many specialized books, games, toys. A great place for all ages to go shopping and have fun.

I absolutely love this place, the only downside is you really need to make sure your are not going on a Penny-a-page day unless you are going for that because the lines get long.

Wow. How have I never heard of such a place. Full of new and used books and more. Not only have I found tons of used books (cookbooks) on my wish list, I have sold tons of books and dvds that have been sitting around for me to sell.

I'm so sad that I waited so long to come into this place it looks like a lot of fun I spent about 30 minutes in there just looking around and I'm definitely coming back for more it has a little bit of everything for everybody including instruments.

This is a really neat book and current collectables store with some vintage rollback include vinyl records! Enjoyed during through this huge store with my bestie. It reminds us of books a million.  Worth the stop!

i really love coming to this store because it feels like a 50 / 50 chance of things. what i mean is i think it's sort of fun to look around see if there is anything cool or something i am after. i really love looking through the cd's although my only issues it can a little out of order like there will be a cd in the wrong genre of music. i also wish it was more like the records where it is labeled by the genre  so it could be easier to have a spot for heavy metal cd's or if i am looking for rock or punk cd's i could look through there. but that's just a personal thing for me. i do enjoy coming here and looking around and i hope to buy more from here soon

My family and I love going into the store. We are always greeted with a welcoming smile. Our children always find what they are looking for, they find too much!! Great store and we continue going back for more.

This place is a great find to shop for DnD, Anime, Video game, and book lovers.  Bought about 5 different cook books from here so far (like the necronomnomnom) and also some manga and other small dnd items as gifts for friends.

Very cool store if you want a mixture of new and old. Saw a lot of fun, nostalgic second hand stuff (cheat code books, how cool!). The prices were very good, with most everything priced to move. I think a good comparison is Barnes and Noble, but I would come to this store over that any day of the week. It was super fun, we lost a half hour just oohing and aweing at everything.

A large selection of books! Everything is well organized, clean, and the staff is already super chill and helpful. Sometime the pricing is very reasonable and other times there isn't much of a discount, but I always find a new book that catches my eye. Also they have a large manga section.

I love this store! Browsing friendly, used and new books shelved together, comic books and graphic novels are heavily featured, board games and toys, guitars and ukuleles, music and movies, snacks, gifts, etc. Around every corner is another "oh, cool!" find.

A great placed to find mainly used books, vinyl, CDs.  They do have some other items like trading cards and even tablets and the occasional laptop.  If you're familiar with the old school term of crate digging, you'll have search amongst what's in stock as that all depends on what others have brought in to trade or sell.  It's a relatively big store so you might have some better luck with books and magazines. Music is going to be hit and miss as that selection is a little more limited in scope.  I'm not sure how the trade and sell process works although it's listed near the entrance and you could look online for an explanation.  I'm mainly there to look at what music is in stock and get whatever catches my eye.  The condition of the items is mainly what justifies the price but otherwise everything seems to be in a 'working' status.  The staff are polite and professional.  Recommended.

If your looking for new interesting books or old rare manga, expect to leave that store broke because you will find everything and then some.
Highly recommend bringing your own bag because it is a bag free store. They have bags you can buy there but from person experience it didn’t last long but in their defense I did have like 30+ pounds of manga in there
I haven’t gone since around Christmas I’m saving up to blow it all on this store again haha, but I wanted to say there was a really friendly girl with glasses there who told me about a book drive they were doing (I think it’s holiday only but I recommend donating when it’s time again)
Can’t wait to go back I don’t care if my bank hates me for it
If you have low impulse control come with someone who will stop you from spending it all ;)

Big book store. Some used books are mixed in with newly released books. Games are available to purchase. Small section of Spanish books. No place to sit and read a book so be prepared to stand up the entire time inside the store.

I like it but not my cup of tea it’s very expensive but in a few sections it’s very cool, they have lots of vinyls and books, they also have a medium size sectionS of toys but very expensive they also have little funny gadgets and candy

The place definitely has a lot more things than your normal bookstore does. I love the place & the deals they have on used books. One downfall is the small amount of credit or money they give for what you bring in. I brought an entire popular collection, worth retail $150, in the box & I got $27 for it :/

Definitely only come her for second hand. Double check prices around since they over charge a by a lot and only give you $5 for a stack of books.

Overall they have a nice selection for book lovers like myself, especially for anyone in the fantasy genre.

Employees are lovely and know a lot about books anytime I have questions.

Large Bookstore with games and gifts! Great selection of old books (80s - 90s) for a fraction of the price online. However, DO NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS HERE. They give you pennies compared to Book Exchange! For a hand full of decent condition books, I got $1.75. Their policies are also confusing. You can get in store credit for "more value" but then they didn't apply that credit when we checked out. We asked questions and tried to clarifying and found the staff to be stand off-ish and rather rude.

It's a neat bookstore with lots of different types of items, but it's pretty pricey. There's lots of stuff that is supposedly "used" but they price used items for sale waaaay over the top. Their buyback trading for your items is really low, you aren't going to get a lot back. I wouldn't recommend trading with them unless you just want to get rid of your stuff. Employees are ok, I've had them be super pushy about joining their rewards program which isn't even a great program, but I get it, that's part of their job. If you want books though, they got them, but check out other book stores first before you go here because other book stores will probably be cheaper.

Update: Employees should let you know when you get a reward. I did not know that they were auto applied and printed out in a coupon receipt when you’ve reached the allotted points, nor was I ever told that I had earned one. The only reason I discovered that I had a reward was because my daughter found it in the middle of one of her books I purchased from here. I buy my children’s books en masse here, so sometimes it takes them a little minute to get through them all. It would be beneficial if a customer receives a reward, to not only verbally tell them, but to also hand them the printed coupon instead of sticking it in the middle of a book and not saying anything, especially given that those coupons have an expiration date. This rewards program should take note from Barnes & Noble’s reward program and allow you to redeem it when you’re ready, but since that’s not on the employees themselves, I can’t rate based on that, but definitely the fact I wasn’t told that I had earned a reward sucks.

I love Second & Charles, but I wish they’d learn how to properly price items. It’s appalling to see used books priced higher than if you were to purchase brand new from elsewhere, or when you remove the Second & Charles price sticker, it’s covering another tag from a different store that sold it for less. If you’re going to raise the price, at the very least, remove the price tag from the previous seller. There’s no way a tag of $12.95 should be covering a book previously sold for $4.95. I’ve had 2nd and Charles stickers for $9.95 covering $1 stickers. There’s also no reason a book marked as used should cost more than a brand new book from Target, Walmart, or even Barnes and Noble. That’s absurd. If I can find that same book at Barnes and Noble for less, you KNOW your used prices are too high. I’m sure that’s a system thing and not necessarily the employees, so I can’t place fault on the workers or this particular location, hence the five star rating still.

The wall decor, funkos, shirts and socks, mugs, and other toys and knickknacks from here are amazing. The funko prices can be a bit crazy at times as well though. I’ve sat in there and ordered the same funkos brand new online for less than they were selling used ones, or had just purchased the exact funko at Target or elsewhere, seen it here and decided to compare prices to find that 2nd & Charles was selling the used funko for double, triple, or more the price of it brand new, so definitely check prices, but the variety is amazing, especially when you get lucky and find rare ones.

The horror section has definitely been improving steadily so I LOVE that.  They even set up a new display and area for it. I wish it was larger and more varied other than Darcy Coates and Stephen King, but again, they can only stock what folks trade in or what’s super popular at the moment.

The manga section is awesome. I wish it were bigger, but it’s a smaller location, so they fit what they could in there, and tbh, for the size of the store, the manga section is pretty huge. You’ll often have some amazing finds in there, as well as the graphic novels area.

The children’s books are amazing, and they have a ton of Minecraft and Pokémon books, which my kids love. There’s also quite the selection of activity books as well.

The manager, I believe he is, Angelou or something, is amazingly helpful. He’s kind, attentive, and has amazing customer service. He often walks through the store and checks on customers and offers to grab a cart for you if he sees your hands are full. He’s just overall a good vibe.  This location is always clean and well organized. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful people, great selection of all kinds of things, however, the prices are insanely high. They had a book there for almost $30 that I bought at Walmart for $13, which i looked up on google while still standing in the store, and they don't bother to hide the original price tag very well. And they don't put obvious price tags on everything. They had a "used" small squishmallow for $9 sitting right next to a new small Squishmallow for $20. They looked exactly the same and it's a good thing I asked or else I would've been in for an ugly surprise at checkout 😬. And isn't there supposed to be a law or something protecting against price gouging on products? 🤔
Anyway, this is a good place to go and "window shop" and then look up the product elsewhere for a more reasonable price.

It's hit-or-miss whether or not you're going to find something good at a good price. The staff are friendly, though. They pay next to nothing for trade-ins, so I don't recommend trading with them unless you really just want to get rid of stuff.

Staff are super sweet but they host these penny-a-page events they’re totally unprepared for. Over hour and a half long waits just to check out.

I was blown away at the prices they were trying to charge for used items. $10-20 for old PS3 games?? 50 bucks for used PS4 and Nintendo games??? All their prices were almost 3x what you can find price wise on ebay! It was cool to walk around and see items physically but I ended up only getting a couple CDs while I was there (almost at the same price I would have got for them NEW on ebay) I would not go here if you are looking for a good deal .

Considering this place is known especially for second hand items I am impressed with the vast selection of books, movies, and video games. However, I don't believe it justifies the prices I see in here. I came across a lot of dvd's that were  sold to them, that were bought used previously, then stocked with sticker saying $1.99, but their price tag was $9-$13. Price gouging is a thing here. To be fair there were many fairly priced items, but many lightly used items were just too high for me to consider going back. I mean, Walmart has bins of NEW copies of the same movies for 5 bucks.

I recently brought books in to sell some almost brand new they offered only 91 cents for all what a joke I was insulted never go there again stay away and I had a few Bibles go somewhere else please

This place is a joke if you want to sell funko pops they offered me $3 for 4 funkos which one was a exclusive do not recommend

The employees at this establishment exhibit peculiar behavior. They appear emotionally reserved and unfriendly, as if their inner turmoil is palpable. Every time I enter, I am left with an unpleasant sensation, and my most recent visit was particularly distressing. With that being said, I truly don’t anticipate returning.

Compare your prices everything is market 50-75% above where you can get elsewhere. Very little is actually priced everything is a mystery until you get to the register

So I have shopped here before and I have never had an issue. So around a week or so ago I decided to bring in items to trade in, and this is where the issue started. So I was told it would take about 2 hrs since there were a couple of people in front of me, so I left to go run some errands I had in the area and would just come back. I got there almost 3 hours after I had dropped off my stuff, and I was told that it wouldn't be ready til the next day. If that was even a possibility, then why wasn't I told that. Don't give me a time and then not follow through  or even tell me it could take til the next day. I have never traded anywhere else that took this long even when I have had multiple people in front of me it never has taken til the next day. Also, when I came to check on my stuff, the guy had an attitude. I finally got the call to pick up my stuff the next day at almost 5 pm, and the trade offer was $5 cash or $11 for store credit for 2 crates of items. Let's just say I will not be coming back to trade or shop here. There are much better businesses in the area that I would rather go to. I have heard many awful reviews about their buybacks, but I like to give places a chance and find out for myself. Safe to say I should have listened.

They'll lowball you on all your funkos on their buy back program and mark them up almost 5x what they buy them for. They use pop price guide instead of Hobbydb so they can offer less. Anyone who buys or sells funkos knows that Hobbydb is the most accurate.
