Don't go here unless you are prepared for how dangerous it will be to your budget. Not because the prices are unreasonable, but because they *are* and you will want *everything*.

Love the shop, great place to look for unique gifts and mid century modern pieces for home. Great space and there is some parking spots in the back.

Great place for local art and cool vintage pieces. Prices range but there is definitely something for everyone here. Highly recommend. I got a cute free tote when I went too!

The gentleman there is extremely knowledgeable in the furniture that sells in his store. He has a good eye for quality furniture and I definitely recommend if you're in need for something looking through his inventory. He moves a lot of pieces so new quality furniture is coming in regularly..

Stumbled on this shop and was so enamored ! Half the shop is vintage, curated. You won’t need to sift through lots of low quality here. You can tell the pieces have been selected, and are priced as such. Awesome mid century selection, have my eye on a couple bigger pieces. The other half is an art / plants / decor and gifts shop that is such a delight to wander through. So many local artists.

My second time in the shop to pick up holiday gifts and there’s always such good finds here. The owners are super kind and helpful! I’ll be definitely be returning.

I don't know why it took so long to check this shop out! In addition to having a large array of vintage furniture and other goods, there is an entire room dedicated to art crafts created by local artists which I thought was really neat. They also have a surprising number of plant pots and plants for sale.

Visited from LA while I was in town because my dear friend has her ceramics in the Maker’s Market, and now I’m searching for an equivalent experience in my home city. The shop was so well-curated and I was struck by how clean everything was! I’m accustomed to antique and vintage stores that are caked in dust, but you could tell the staff takes abundant time to clean here. Amazing pieces at the maker’s market aside, the mainstay furniture was all restored and cared for beautifully, and you can tell the owner has a serious talent for me buying vintage pieces and giving them a second life. My fiancé and I love the art and gifts I brought back home. Can’t wait to return next time I’m in Seattle!

I love finding new spots in Seattle! I was searching for a graduation gift for my best friend and stumbled upon Big Whale Consignment and their artist collective! While it may just look like a vintage furniture store from the reviews, they have a whole separate half of the store where they sell work from over 40 small businesses and artists! I got my friend a beautiful card, a cute sticker, and a money plant, and they really loved it.
Support small/local businesses and artists and go check them out!

I love the maker's market! So many beautiful crafts, ceramics, prints, and plants. It blew my mind how good it smelled in there. The furniture is of really good quality which explains the high price.

Lots of beautiful, expensive mid century modern furniture here. If you are willing to dig, there are also more affordable pieces scattered throughout. The staff were very helpful and kind.

A little crowded, but only because it's full of so much good stuff. A little on the expensive side but all very good quality, and they deliver (not for free).

What a gem!!!! The owner has a fantastic eye for furniture and has beautifully curated an excellent assortment of furniture and accessories.

Bought a credenza from BWC. The whole process was fast, smooth and pleasant. The owner is honest and straightforward about the material and condition of the credenza it is indeed lightly used and mostly real wood. The price is really reasonable comparing to other merchants. The delivery company they work with wrapped the credenza with blankets so it was delivered without a single scratch. I am getting more affordable quality furniture from BWC.

Great store--they have this place packed with good finds! Lots of unique and quality furniture. Prices are reasonable and the owners and employees are helpful and kind. They offer curbside delivery, also for a reasonable price (as long as you aren't too far).

They keep their Instagram up to date (@bigwhaleconsignment); my wife and I found it was a good way to see recent inventory.

Super friendly, helpful, and flexible in helping us find the perfect dresser for our new master bedroom!

Parking is very difficult,  yet the store is good.

Nice furniture. This is one of those places where there is so much packed in, you have to walk through two or three times.  The people are nice.  The furniture is is great condition.  The prices are a tad high.

Really big selection of mid century furniture...and pricey

Nice items and friendly service. So many items to choose from. Interesting antique furniture. Hundred or so end tables. A few nice newer sofas. Art selection and Knick knacks very basic.

I'll not comment on the furniture prices, as I'm not an expert on mcm pieces. That being said, if you divided this place into two different businesses, you'd have a  recipe for success. Have the high-priced antique furniture, etc. In one store for the fortunate few that have too much disposable income, and next door, a quaint little shop for regular people who don't mind spending a little extra to support local artists. It's a win-win for the owner. Either way, it's worth a visit to Big Whale Consignment. The rich can purchase something my Grandparents had in their home for 1000x's the price, or, If you're not blessed with too much money, you can find consolation in the back room and support local Seattle artists who put their heart and soul into their craft.

This place is overflowing with furniture. Most of it looks great. I have a hunch there is so much furniture because no one wants to spend 1-3k on decent used furniture. I’m sure if prices were lowered, things would sell quicker.

Lots of selection, prices are nuts for an everyday person. Definitely not their target audience. For example- vintage wooden stool, marked for $50, had a crack in the seat. If y’all have money this is the spot for you and I’m sure you’ll go home with beautiful pieces. If you’re on a budget, it’s nice to look at their selection but discouraging to be reminded you’re poor.

I guess used, consigned furniture and home goods are now nearly as expensive as new items? But why? I suppose it’s because the business owners are paying really high rents and have to cover that? It just seems like I may as well skip the old stuff and spend a little more for new.

Very cramped and nothing special. Prices were way too high

2 Stars for the sheer volume of items (often callously stacked), but this could be a flat 0 Stars, when factoring in the ridiculous prices. I have been collecting for just over 20 years and have slowly moved from starter Lane Acclaim type pieces to nicer, higher-end Danish and MCM pieces, so have a relatively well-tuned feel for what realistic prices are/should be. These are not consignment prices and are usually well over the value of the actual item.

I have, like other reviews, seen multiple pieces that are veneer listed as solid wood, incorrect designer/manufacturer attributions, etc. If you are willing to spend at what they are asking then you're better off grabbing pieces off of the secondary market, as I do (facebook marketplace, etc.), or go somewhere like Sparkle Barn. While SB are also pricey, at least there they will have the correct attribution, genuine high quality pieces, and have done the work to bring the items almost back to original condition.

Very expensive second hand furniture. I am not an expert on the value of vintage goods, perhaps the prices are fair? However, my experience as a customer is that to shuffle through a cramped store filled like a junk shop only to see items priced as though it’s a high end furniture show room is very off putting.

Customer service is meh. Hours are loosely based on what’s stated on the web. When asked to see a coffee table, I was told to look at it on their IG and not IRL even though it was an arm’s reach away. It seems like all this could be addressed by having more employees. There’s a lot of stuff and it’s all expensive so I’m not sure why there’s not more people to help. I miss the good customer service from the olden days.

Super cramped, furniture had features or decals missing off of iconic pieces yet it was still full price and possibly over priced. I liked what I was seeing at first but for the condition of the store and the price, I dont find it acceptable. This is my honest review as a dealer, slash your inventory and start small because you cant sell anything that people cant experience or even see. Also, there was a rude woman or girl who was "working" there. She wasn't doing much working but I did over hear her raising her voice to a customer and telling them to move along if they didn't like the pricing. Very rude and unforfestional to see in the industry.  I would shop up the street at Furniture guys or go to Ballard for many other consignment shops. Hope this helps!

Fairly decent selection of furniture, but way too expensive for what they have

UPDATED REVIEW: I deleted my original review because the concerns I detailed in it got rectified. I purchased something from an online listing and they didn't actually have the item anymore. A huge disappointment but okay, stuff happens. Aside from needing an inventory manager or website listing coordinator, my only complaint would be that their response time for customer service is a bit lacking and they didn't keep their word on their commitments in terms of time frames. I got refunded for my purchase and I suppose that's the big important part.

Im just going to leave it at this, 1 star. See the prices section for why I would not recommend anyone to this store. Most items I was told were solid or vintage was false. I was being lied to to my face and they thought they were doing a good job. Don't shop here, the owner will lie to you and steal your money if you buy any of her garbage. Maybe go to school for anything furniture related?

Wow, I was excited to shop here but I will never shop here again. SO shady and selling broken  furniture for 2 times the price almost. Just feels like a slap in the face to the idea of "Consignment". I know. they sell other things but I feel like the main part of the shop is a loss and that they are not compensating  the creators the sell for. Just don't trust how staff were with me and how they were trying to sell to me/ following me around.

I would never recommend this business to anyone. Although they appear to have hundreds of beautiful midcentury and antique pieces, this business is run by shady, disorganized people who have been ripping customers off for years. To name only a few issues, they regularly falsely advertise and misname pieces (ex. "Solid wood" when it's veneer, "vintage" when it's new), price gouge everything well beyond an appropriate value, keep a disorganized and inaccurate inventory system, and are poorly responsive/helpful to inquiries and/or resolution for these known issues. Buy your vintage furniture literally anywhere else for an earthly price and avoid giving more money to these dishonest individuals taking advantage of people who just want quality vintage.

I imagine the owner is just going to respond to this saying "you just don't understand how to price and curate a vintage collection like we do," and accuse you of picking on a "small business." If you'll notice their response to every other negative review (including on Yelp) is something similar, I think the takeaway is that is their only defense. Pretty illuminating that their MO is to make money, not to run a legitimate business or genuinely improve.

Place is overflowing with inventory, pieces seem to be true MCM furniture but the prices are very high. Every console, sideboard, dresser is well above $2000 and not in good condition. Also big time smoke odor when you walk in - does not give you confidence that these are being maintained or stored properly. I am surprised they are able to stay open at those price points for a consignment store. A small houseplant was $50! We walked in and out within 5 minutes.

Great selection but everything is priced way too high, despite what they say about the market. They also do not do any restoration work on their pieces so it’s really hard to justify paying these prices. There are plenty of other MCM dealers in Seattle that actually put in the effort so please spend your money wisely. Especially when this place is charging upwards of $600 for a coffee table.

Word to the owners, you need to understand that the open market you referenced in your attempt to play the victim also includes the ability of consumers to label your items as over priced. I messaged your company directly via OfferUp asking about your restoration process and you fully admitted to not having one. I suggest taking the time and effort it took to craft a poorly constructed victim complex and apply it to learning the art of furniture restoration. My review was neither irresponsible nor was I making any blind accusations, I simply posted my opinion of your business and its practices that was formed from my experience with it aka a review.

As stated before, there are a number of MCM furniture dealers in the Seattle area that put in the work to earn the amount on their price tags rather than marking their estate sale purchases up by 300%.

Lovely pieces but absolutely ridiculous prices. They have a lot of nerve charging as much as they do. There are way too many innovative ways to buy and sell vintage merchandise. Don’t waste your time or money on inflated prices when you can find beautiful products elsewhere.

Extremely inflated & overpriced. If your looking for a good deal or good find this is NOT the place for you. Owner was a bit rude. Several patrons walked out at same time including myself. Disappointed :(
